Family owned gem with an authentic taste of Italy and Greece!
It was Saturday night and I was going to see a movie in Simpsonville and KNEW I was never going to get anything really good to eat BUT took a leap of faith and was rewarded WAY BEYOND MY WILDEST EXPECTATIONS at Milano's
FOOD The Greek salad is fresh and has lovely mixed greens tomatoes cucumbers carrots pepperoncini Greek olives tons of feta piled on top (and huge) and the house made Greek vinaigrette dressing is fabulous!!!! I usually add chicken and might next time (it's only a couple of dollars and change to add grilled chicken) The tea was sweet and Kelli made sure that my glass was full For my main I chose the chicken stromboli stuffed to the brim with grilled chicken onions mushrooms and green peppers *made as a calzone (again just for a couple of dollars extra) - it was a feast for the eyes nose and good to the last morsel. So much so that I regret that I didn't leave room for the tempting cannoli there were gorgeous chocolate and classic and baklava in there calling my name! Can you hear them??!! I STILL DO!!
SERVICE We were greeted so warmly and from there Kelli was warm and attentive, I highly recommend her. She expertly helped navigate my special requests and got everything just right with a sweet smile and I watched her help everyone as if we were all her family. The salad came out super quickly and even though they were super busy the pie came out much faster than if I was anywhere else on a Saturday night for sure! Everyone was being cared for and all the guests looked as happy as I did!
ATMOSPHERE This is a warm, lovely, elegant, well appointed eatery where I would take my family or someone I love for a romantic date or even a group of friends for a wonderful time guaranteed
VALUE Excellent value for the amount of great quality of fresh food you get that is very well prepared
LOCATION Great location just minutes from downtown Greenville or Simpsonville RIGHT off 385 at the Fairview Rd Exit (but head towards Main Street)
PARKING Plenty of parking all around the building and right up by the door
DIETARY NEEDS DEFINITELY all sorts of vegetarian options and just ask - they will help you
HOURS It looks like they are open ANYTIME you might crave Italian...
Read moreThis place and these employees have absolutely no etiquette whatsoever. First of all, they had us wait outside because "the dining area was closed". Why was the dining area closed, you ask ? Because these lazy people wanted to quit ahead of time, that's why. So much so, in fact, that they have started closing the dining area at 9:15 in order for them to be out of there early. This was on a Thursday too, not a Friday (so no excuses about it being a long week, so on and so forth).
Oddly enough one of the employees asked their boyfriend/husband if he wanted to come inside. I said to my wife "they need to tell him the dining area is closed." It seems that their rules only apply to their patrons, and not their lovers. 😏 Tsk, tsk.
Then to top it all off, my wife, my daughter, and myself were sitting out front on their bent up little benches, when one of the waitresses had the nerve to turn the lights out on us (without even a warning) at 9:40. By 9:45 they have us our food, shewed us out the door, and they all scattered like roaches to their cars. There is absolutely no courtesy here anymore, nor any respect for their customers, and it's utterly disgraceful.
EDIT: Just finished our food down at the QT tables since Milano didn't allow us to eat inside and left us all in the dark. I had the chicken souvlaki, and man, it really had no flavor this time, nor did their frozen sauteed vegetables. They also fibbed about it being chicken breast used for the souvlaki because it was most definitely chicken tenders. Now I can't even say the food is good anymore, with the exception of the house dressing. That dressing is still tasty, but knowing them, it's probably something they purchase in bottles. LOL
Honestly, I would suggest folks go elsewhere because this place is about as rude of an establishment as I have encountered in a long, long while. I mean, it's the kind of caliber you expect from fast food employees (and apparently Milano's has no shortage of that sort). Spend your money at one of those grateful, small family restaurants where they actually care about you, not somewhere a bunch of old crabs just want to rush you off and cut the lights out on you and your family 15 MINUTES BEFORE...

I had never been to Milanos. I called to place an order for a Sausage & Onion Calzone. I ask, to make 100% sure, if the Calzone had Ricotta cheese. I was told no, that was a Stromboli. Ok, that a new one to me but who am I to argue with an Italian restaurant. I ordered it with sausage and light onions. Picked up my order within the 15/20 minute time; as well as Cannolis. Brought it home. As soon as I cut into it I realized that there was no Ricotta cheese. Took two bites and realized that it had peppers in it. I can't eat peppers. With a couple of minutes I have an awful case of heartburn. I love peppers and they hate me. THANK YOU for that discomfort. It will be 12-24 hours before I get it under control.
Called them. Had to drive the 12-15 minutes back to pick it up a Calzone. I had intended to work from my desk this evening. Not run back and forth for food.
They replaced it. Maybe the first one was right. Very little Ricotta cheese. What a major disappointment.
Cannolis are ok. I miss Two Guys Pizza.....that made them perfect.
I won't be back. We were looking for a new pizza/Italian place.
Personal opinion.....they are doing pizza, sandwiches, Greek food and Italian. Their menu is just too big to be an efficient and good restaurant. Maybe its time for them to get someone in who know how to handle a restaurant and streamline that menu so that its reasonable and the chefs can...
