I’ve ate here a few times for breakfast many years ago. We decided to eat dinner here after they reopened. I ordered •CHICKEN SOUVLAKI Two skewers of marinated chicken on a bed of rice. Served with Greek salad, stuffed grape leaves, pita bread and tzatziki sauce - 16.99 *Does not come with two vegetables.
My husband order the •CHICKEN-FRIED CHICKEN Breast of chicken, hand-breaded and deep-fried, covered with sawmill gravy - 14.49 He had the mash potatoes.
I didn’t want to say anything because it’s embarrassing to complain when we are paying a good amount for a nice family restaurant. I finally called the waitress and said these grape leaves are gross. I said “they must be from a can”? . She said “yes, they are”. Nothing she could do about that. The chicken skewers were so flat with no flavor. The chicken was chewy and dry. I then started looking around to see if anyone else is feeling the same way. I looked at my husband and asked “him how his food”? He said, “ I have instant mashed potatoes”. He didn’t like his food either. We are the type of people that are happy with our food. This was the first time that I felt the need to express myself with this restaurant. I had to tell the owner about his restaurant quality of food. He admitted that the grape leaves were from a can. He told us that the mash potatoes are fresh. My husband then said that “I ate instant mashed potatoes for 20 years and I knows those are instant mashed potatoes”. Maybe they aren’t every night but, that day they were definitely instant mashed potatoes.. The owner said “sorry”. That was that. $45 that I could had saved. After leaving we went to McDonald’s and grabbed chicken nuggets. I was very disappointed with this restaurant. Sorry for...
Read moreAfter hearing that Coach House was good but rather expensive, my fiance and I decided to try it out.
The food was very good. I had a Monterrey burger with fries and slaw, while my fiance had the Parmesan chicken strips with okra and rice. The burger was good; nothing special but I would eat it again. The fries and the slaw were very good, and massive amounts of both. The rice and okra were both good as well, but the Parmesan chicken strips were definitely the best portion of the meal. Well cooked, and covered in fantastic sauce. Definitely worth going back to have it again. Each order was about $8.50. The menu consisted of a fairly large variety of sandwiches, salads, burgers, seafood, and other dishes.
The service was also really good. Our waitress at first seemed terse, but it was merely that I had trouble understanding her accent. When she came back to our table after getting our drink order, she was very nice and joked around with us. She wasted no time getting our food to us, and kept our drinks full.
Decor was good, but nothing particularly outstanding. It had a generic diner look, but that isn't a bad thing. Plenty of room between tables, there was a theme of carriages (hence the name Coach House) with artwork, some pop music playing softly. A pleasant place to sit while we ate.
Overall, we enjoyed the visit. The food was good, the prices were reasonable. I wouldn't say it's a place to get super excited about going to, but it's a solid option for either breakfast, lunch, or dinner. If you're looking for something new in the Simpsonville area, check out the Coach...
Read moreMy family came here to celebrate my sister's birthday, and we walked in at 3PM on a Thursday. The atmosphere was peaceful and clean. We were almost immediately seated, and our wonderful waitress got us started with our drink order. The waitress was extremely kind, and she even helped my mom decide what to order off the huge menu! A few minutes later, our cornbread arrived, and it was absolutely amazing! The inside was warm and somewhat doughey, while the top was perfectly crisp. I ordered the Big Texan burger with bacon and sweet potato fries, my mom got a gyro with normal fries, and my dad got broiled pork (idk what my sister got 😂); Our food came out, less than 10 minutes later! The burger was juicy, flavorful, and fresh. My mom loved her gyro, but my dad's pork came out fried. However, the waitress kindly took the pork back and had the chefs make broiled porkchops, which my dad really enjoyed! Sadly, the sweet potato fries weren't very flavorful, and they were quite firm, with only a little crispness on the edges. My mom's regular fries were fantastic, though, so I'd just get those instead of the sweet potato ones (my mom liked the sweet potato fries alright, so maybe they just didn't fit my personal taste). Also, on a side note: the bathrooms, although pretty small, we're really nice! We ordered dessert to go, and I'll update this review once I try my chocolate cheesecake. Overall, I highly recommend eating here, and I'll be back for future meals! Edit: The chocolate...
