I was told about Mak&Cheesecakes via a coworker and was shocked that I had never heard about them as I love cheesecakes and I have lived in Greenville/Upstate area for most of my life. My husband and I decided to give it a try on Thursday 3/14/24 around 5pm. We drove 20+ min to Simpsonville and were truly looking forward to having an experience similar to my co-workers. When we arrived, someone was leaving out with their desserts and we were walking in. We were the only customers inside the dimly lit location. There were two young workers behind the counters. Neither person said a “hello”, can I help you with anything, or do you have any questions? The space was quiet enough to hear a pen drop as the male worker was organizing pre decorated cheesecakes in the case without looking up to acknowledge our arrival and the female worker did not pretend to even look our way while taking things from the counter to take to a backroom that had a door. My husband was taken aback by the lack of customer service and turned to me to ask if we should just leave. I decided since driving the distance, we might as well attempt to try what we came for.Inside the case there were a couple of prepackaged already decorated caramel cheesecakes, strawberry cheesecakes, turtle cheesecakes, and banana pudding cheesecakes. There was also two packages of already packaged/pre-decorated sample square sized cheesecakes. My husband had to ask questions to see if the cheesecakes in the case were the only slices/options available and we were told yes. I asked about the sample box as I did not realize what was in the box and I was told by the male worker that yes, those are sample sizes. We bought 1 of each flavor of the large slices and put total was $42. I felt that was a little steep for the price point but I understand the price is the price. After our order was bagged and we paid, there was no goodbye or thank you. We told the worker to have a good day and left. We arrived back home and was able to try each one with our kids after allowing to sit in the fridge for 30 minutes. The banana pudding cheesecake texture was not firm and very similar to eating banana pudding. The strawberry cheesecake, the syrup was a bit much and felt like it had been sitting and my main issue with this one was the cheesecake had to sit for a while to thaw because while trying to eat it, I struggled with my fork to break off a piece as it was slightly frozen. The turtle cheesecake was pretty good per my husband and 15 year old daughter. The caramel cheesecake was my favorite one. All in all I felt the prices did not match the quality I was given or expected with cheesecake. I probably would be willing to give another try but the lack of customer service alone is enough to say I would rather spend our dollars elsewhere. I love supporting small businesses but not when I feel like we are bothersome or made to feel unwelcome upon visiting for...
Read moreThe truth is that I'm a Foodie, who travels all over trying and giving honest reviews (most on Google, I don't use Yelp as much). I'm from NYC, Bronx, and I know what Cheesecake is like. Y'all, Mak Got it so get aboard & discover your favorite decadent treat! I started my first visit with the "Change your Life", (Kurt’s words) banana pudding caramel cheesecake. Wow! The Banana Pudding Cheesecake at this place is truly a masterpiece. From the bottom to the top, every layer adds a burst of flavor and texture that will make your taste buds dance. The fresh, soft crust at the bottom is like biting into a warm, buttery cookie. Next comes the layer of homemade pudding, which elevates this dessert to the Royal level. And the addition of homemade waffers, caramel glaze, and fluffy cream cheese with added banana slices makes it even more irresistible. Each bite is a perfect balance of sweetness and creaminess, and the portion size is generous for the price. (approx 5") While it may take some time to get there, we assure you, it is well worth the wait. Just make sure to plan your visit accordingly, as they are closed on Mondays and have limited hours on certain days. Tuesday-Sat Open at 12PM & closes at 7PM & 8PM (depending on day) cost $10-$12 Can order Full sizes $65-$115. (variety of choices) Whole Banana Pudding...
Read moreDuring our brief stay in simpsonville recently we came across this amazing little cheesecake establishment. My husband and I like to consider ourselves foodies as a hobbie when we are traveling, this place was only about 7 min from our hotel ,so we shot right over before they closed for the evening… We were greeted by a gentleman who was so welcoming and patient because I can never decide! He helped me choose and let me tell you his recommendation did not disappoint!! I wanted something summerish but not overpowering! We ended up choosing the lemon crusted(which taste like lemonade Girl Scout cookie) and raspberry! The raspberries itself were a little tart(perfect amount) and a raspberry drizzle… now to the cheesecake….. so incredibly soft …. Made to perfection!!!!! So creamy and soft, melted in my mouth! Where we live in Philadelphia we have the typical Cheesecake Factory chain places… this place was absolutely wonderful! Oh! And the best part? The price! I paid about 9$ for a single piece! I am however not complaining at all! There were like 40 different variations for these single slices!! I believe they need to charge a good 11-13$ for a slice!! I would not mind paying for...
