We sat on the patio which was very pretty. The wine selection is decent. I think they should steam their wine glasses and make them crystal clear. My glass has water spots and looked cloudy. It’s the little things sometimes. Our server went over the menu with us as it was our first time which was appreciated. He was attentive and overall a very good server. I ordered the 6oz steak. I can remember complaining about a steak twice in my life and once was in Wisconsin. This was the worst steak I’ve ever had. After having my fiance taste it, he thought it was some what edible but old and definitely shouldn’t be $45 dollars. It also didn’t come with any sides for that price which usually doesn’t bother me if the steak is good. It was definitely dry, over done and an old cut of meat. I ordered it medium rare and it was still a little over done for my liking (not the chefs fault). In restaurant standards the fillet was cooked perfectly but the taste and texture made me gag. I had two bites and gave the rest to my fiance. Manager and server both wanted to make up for it but at this point I was just over the experience and wanted the check. We originally came there for pasta but they had three pasta options. The dinner menu is bleak. My fiance had their pork chop which he said was pretty good. It was a little bit on the dry side but he still liked the flavor. I won’t write the place off just yet. Their breakfast and lunch menu look bomb so hoping to try those menus soon. Be back for...
Read moreOverall, we were pretty underwhelmed. For the food, nothing was necessarily bad, but nothing was great. It seemed like everything needed just a little more oomph to be good. The tiramisu was honestly great—probably one of my favorites in town now. The lobster tortelloni and the pork chop were fine. The pork needed way more sauce and two budding pieces of broccolini felt odd. The bombolini were barely filled with the hazelnut cream (which kind of just tasted like chocolate pudding?) and the dough was very dry/flavorless. The Italian margarita and wine were good.
The worst part for us was the service. The host sat us down and filled waters and then we didn't get spoken to for close to 10 minutes. The girl who eventually was our server had walked by our table at least four times and never stopped to even say that she'd be with us when she could. After we ordered, she didn't come back to our table until we had almost finished eating—someone else ran apps and entrees to us. We had been out of drinks for a while which was a bummer. When we ordered desserts, she didn't take our entree plates with her and just left them sitting there? I don't know. The whole experience was weird and underwhelming.
I'll probably give it another chance because I want to like it, but it was just an odd experience. One of my least favorite in the Steel...
Read moreAfter driving over 12 hours, we finally decided to stop for the night at the Hilton Canopy. We checked in around 10:35 PM, only to learn that the hotel lobby kitchen had already closed. The exhaustion and defeat on our faces must have been obvious, because that’s when our server, Sara, stepped in with true kindness.
Instead of sending us away, she immediately spoke with Chef Alex, and together they reopened the kitchen just for us. Not only did they prepare food at that late hour, but they served up some of the best flatbread pizzas we’ve ever had. Sara even let us sit and enjoy our meal while she finished closing up and cleaning for the night, never rushing us, only making us feel cared for.
We cannot thank Sara and Chef Alex enough for their compassion, hospitality, and incredible food. After such a long day of travel, their kindness turned the night around and reminded us what genuine service is all about. This was above and beyond, and we’ll remember it for...
