Read moreBeen thinking on exactly how I was going to post this. I have not been here in 20 years and remember how awesome this place was. So I was so disappointed on our experience. The service was absolutely horrible. We showed up early and the hosting staff was awesome. They explained that it was going to be a bit and said we could go to the bar and wait until our table was ready. Completely understandable. Went to the bar which only had a few people at and they had two bartenders and couldn't get anyone to serve us. We waited 10 min to have someone to come wait on us. I would understand if they were busy but there were a lot of empty chairs at the bar. After we got our drinks a pair of gentlemen sat beside us both bartenders rushed to take their drink order. Which I found odd but found out they were regulars. A few min later our table was ready. There was four of us in our party. We were seated. After getting seated it was 15min before our server came to greet us. He was very friendly but seemed to be distracted. After we ordered our drinks he came back with the drinks 2 plates and two rolled silverware. We ordered an appetizers and our meals. He brought the appetizers but never brought anymore plates or silverware. We asked for more plates and he said ohh yea. We Finally got our plates. We got our food. I had a strip the wife had ribeye. Both supposed to be medium rare. Mine was perfect but hers was well done. Our server never returned to ask about our meal until I waved him over. By this time we were frustrated and the wife just ate her steak. I have no problem paying for great food and a great experience but this place fell very short of what...
Read moreUnknown to anyone outside the area, Downtown Sioux Falls has some really nice restaurants. So I grabbed the wife, told her to get in the back of the car and we drove to Minervas.
Upon entering, it's got more of a steakhouse feel as most of the decor is wood. But it's very nice. Probably could do without the fake stained glass window things they have but overall it's a nice place. I believe the building has been some sort of restaurant since 1917.
We ordered a Walleye Cake appetizer and 2 Margaritas. The Walleye cakes were very delicious! Margaritas while in a skinny glass, were strong and tasty. If I'm gonna pay $10 a drink, just break out the fat big boy glasses and fill it up. After that I tried the Habenero Whiskey Lemonade. That was so amazing!!
Then came the dinners of Pheasant Risotto and Filet mignon with a mushroom enhancer. Food was top notch. The steak was the 2nd best the wife and I have had. Only place that beat it was Hells Kitchen in Vegas. Had I known how good her steak was going to be, I would have ordered one too. The plating of her steak was a little poor but tasted great.
For dessert we ordered the Creme Brule and Panna Cotta with Strawberry caviar. Amazing dessert! Beautifully plated and just pure heaven. The strawberry caviar is amazing!! One of the prettiest desserts I've been served from a plating perspective.
We will definitely be back again to try more dishes and desserts. With a 20% tip to the great waitress (small skinny blonde girl), our bill was $185. Not...
