Cute place in the heart of downtown Sioux Falls where everything you want to try is at like Blarney Stone and Josiah’s cafe and so much more. Atmosphere is nice and it’s a nice favorite local for brunch. The staff were so wonderful allowing me to stay after closing to get something important done. Really meant a lot to me. Thank you so much for your kindness. The crepe (I ordered the Seasonal Vegetarian Crepe) which was good and had mozzarella cheese, yellow peppers, tomatoes, spinach, balsamic vinegar. The crepe itself was very good but just not enough filling so I felt like it was mostly the crepe even though the crepe is very yummy. There was a really thin thin slice of mozzarella cheese about 1mm in thickness that didn’t cover 85% of the whole crepe meal area. The Asian noodle salad which is offered during lunch only, and in small $5.75) or large ($8.25) portions, was a cold noodle one with shrimp, peppers, carrots, rice noodles, cabbage, scallions, and peanuts. The cabbage was crunchy so it’s not easy to eat if your teeth aren’t great, though. I understand it’s a salad, and the dressing was a bit bland and I wished they used the same sauce for either Phad thai noodles or Vietnamese spring rolls (the clear fish sauce based sauce with sugar and vinegar which has more flavor). Overall a nice place to eat with friends or just alone while thinking or people watching or being on your phone or reading. The ambience and the good hearted staff made it all a great place for...
Read moreUpdate as of 2/15/20: They seen to have brought back the prix fixe menu as a regular option. It's excellent! I haven't had the regular menu after this update, but the quality is good enough that I would say MB Haskett has returned to being one of the best restaurants in Sioux Falls. Changing my review from 3 to 5 stars. Text below is from my previous review in 2019.
Their quality has dropped significantly from a few months ago. Used to come here all the time for their prix fixe dinners and thought they were great. They changed their menu a few months ago and mostly stopped doing the prix fixe menus; I think their quality has dropped significantly as a result. My girlfriend and I wanted to give them another shot tonight but were still disappointed. She had the bison burger, which was cold and seemed to have Kraft American cheese on it (not what I would expect from a place like this). It came with mashed potato, which were poorly seasoned and also cold. I had the black bean tofu dish. It tasted good, but was quite a small portion, was cold and certainty not worth $15. Maybe MB Haskett still has good lunch offerings and on the rare occasions that they do prix fixe they are still on point, but otherwise I would avoid this place. Really sad to say that, a year ago I was singing...
Read moreEverytime I go to M.B. Haskett I pick up one of their salads or sandwiches that are already made. The food is fresh and you can absolutely tell the difference in quality. The first bite is like listening to 50 Cent in 2003 when he dropped his first album with Shady Records. MIND BLOWINGLY AWESOME.
Upon walking in, you're hit with sweet aromas of coffee and herbs. It's so relaxing. You can see they keep the place very clean, the front and back of the house is always presentable.
The staff there is always quite pleasant and friendly & a small cup of coffee here is equivalent to a double shot of espresso, just the way I like it. Keep the fresh food and strong café coming.
Also, the price? They say you get what you pay for but M.B.'s giving you more flavor in a 4 ounce salad than you'll ever get anywhere else for half the price.
Skip the other place, freaky fast will never be as good as...
