My mother (rest her soul) used to visit the N Minnesota location so much when she worked in downtown Sioux Falls that when she moved to Iowa and hadn't sat down to eat in years, the woman working immediately recognized her, and me as her youngest child now grown up. They have the best spicy sour soup you will ever eat (and the cheapest!) and all around the best Chinese you will ever have in Sioux Falls. Personal faves are the crab rangoon (amazing), shrimp in garlic sauce, duck in plum sauce and the duck in hot garlic, my mom loved combination low mein and anything with mushrooms! ANYTHING here is delicious! I stopped by tonight just for spicy sour soup and an eggroll and they accidentally forgot a fortune cookie. The last one I got was a perfect fortune for when I needed it saying "Don't give up, the beginning is always the hardest". I called the store and asked the nice young woman that helped me at the window if she'd just pick one and read it for me since I was home already and of course she did! And again - exactly something I needed. "You will do well to expand your horizon's". Also - something very relevant to my current circumstances. So if you want great food, great customer service and the best fortune cookies, Schezwan's is number one! It's the little things that can make a bad, or a mundane, or average day into something special, which is why I love Schezwan's! I hadn't visited often until recently again and it reminded me why my mother was a regular! Oh and the best hot food takeout that is exactly the same quality when you get home with...
Read moreI really don't know where to begin with this location. It was probably a popular destination restaurant at some point but that does not seem the case now. I just don't know what path they are on now. Maybe sales are lacking, maybe it is mismanaged, I don't know and it's none of my business. The food was good, reasonably priced and the service was courteous and efficient. It is a superior location but parking is awkward but abundant in the adjacent strip mall area. The entrance was also awkward and created confusion of which door to use as there equipment and such along a walkway and just inside the entrance . It made for a disheveled appearance like work was being done and perhaps the restaurant was closed as no one was apparently there at first. We could hear people talking and finally someone appeared, greeted us and showed us to a table. The restaurant was lavishly decorated as classic Chinese with plenty of seating. There was just one other party of 2 there but it was before noon and several other came while we were there. This business is definitely stepping to the beat of a different drummer than other Sioux Falls restaurants. Maybe they are simply going through some hard times or in some sort of a transitional period. None of my business but my experienc there was favorable and...
Read moreKid unfriendly. My son was running around and went around this area 3 times and would come back to where my friend was sitting. One of the servers came up telling us that the kitchen door was wide open and that my son was like on his 10th lap around the restaurant. A few minutes later a different server that wasn't our server brought us the check and walked away. No-one asked if we needed anything else or dessert and we never even asked for the check in the first place. They basically were kicking us out. They didn't even ask if we needed any boxes we had to ask for some. The high chair straps weren't even strapping good enough for my almost 2 yr old son to stay seated he basically kept getting out of the straps. They should know toddlers don't like to sit still and maybe should keep the kitchen door closed. When we were leaving, we were just being stared at by the servers and i believe the manager was standing by the register by one of the servers. Very bad service and...
