Ocean Garden Kitchen — Restaurant in Somers Point

We were refered by friends who thoroughly enjoyed a recent visit. The restaurant is clean, bright & roomy. The menu is vast yet easy to read & follow. We had 2 appetizers & 2 entrees. We had Cha Siu Bao, I know them as Bao buns, and Soup Dumplings. My wife commented that the soup dumplings were just like the ones her mother made as a child. Her entree, Roast Duck Noodle Soup, was excellent. For comparison to other Chinese restaurants I had General Chicken. It was superior and not typical. The chicken was all uniform large pieces. The coating was thin and crisp. The sauce was very good. It was less thick & less sweet than most. A true sauce rather than a thick syrup. I usually order from best food in town. Best food in town is more like a fast food Chinese restaurant. At ocean garden, you can dine in or take out. Their food is definitely higher quality in comparison. The server constantly checks on you and makes sure you're satisfied. I came in for lunch. Generally it was quiet and peaceful. I am sure it gets busier during dinner hours. Their prices are fair and comparable to best food in town and other Chinese restaurants. But you get the benefit of higher quality and better tasting food. And the portions are also sizeable. They have great hot and cold tea. The place is clean and comfortable. And I will definitely be coming...

I honestly only went for the general's chicken. I prefer everything else at Best Food in Town. The last few times I threw away the egg roll because it had a horrible smell. I also switched to the white rice because the fried rice tasted old. So the food has been decling in quality and now they are raising their prices. Now they say they changed their menu I said okay thinking a dollar or two but the lunch special went up 4 dollars I said nevermind. Also the last time I ordered the dinner special it was the same size as the lunch. 12 dollars for a lunch special is too much!! If you're going to inflate your prices that crazy you might want to work on the quality...
