Visited on Mother’s Day. It was HORRIBLE! Took the waiter forever to get to us to get our drink order after being seated. Which ok it’s a busy holiday get that. Finally we ordered our drinks I ask for lemonade for my toddler was told they were out of lemonade, so I order him a sprite and the combo appetizer. When he comes back with the drinks he got the water and sprite mixed up and they were served to the wrong people, but whatever no big deal accidents happen. They also were out of toddler cups so they gave my toddler a to go cup, again not a huge deal. Waiter leaves to put in combo order comes back after probably 10-15 minutes said they were out of potato skins for the appetizer combo , so we cancel that and order our food. I tried to order my regular which is the steak with corn and baked potato. He tells me they are out of corn. So I asked to order the salad with Italian dressing, I was told they were out of Italian dressing so I ended up ordering just one side. My husband orders his meal with one side being Mac & Cheese. The waiter leaves and comes back after another 10 minutes to let us know they are out of Mac & cheese which is what we had planned on feeding our baby. So he changes it to green beans. While we are waiting the table behind us who had the same amount of people in their party and arrived at least 20 minutes after us as there was another party setting there when we arrived. That party had time to finish, then someone come to clean the table, and then the other party be seated, their order taken they were served 10 minutes before we were. So there was atleast 30 minutes between us ordering and them ordering and they got served before us which normally wouldn’t be a huge deal but I had a baby and toddler getting antsy wanting their food. Finally food is served only for them to forget my daughters baked potato and my toddlers fries. The burger buns to my toddlers mini hamburgers were “toasted” so long the entire bun was hard so he would not eat them. We were ready to leave by the time they finally brought our missing fries and potato had to get to go containers for them. My steak was horribly dry and my potato was undercooked still hard in places, I could only eat some of it. Never once were we checked on or asked if our drinks needed refilled while we waited that long period of time on our food. It was a horrible experience. The waiter was unbothered by the lack of menu items, wait times or the fact that several things were missing from the order. He was unapologetic. I had just buried my mother 3 days prior and went there because I had taken her there the last Mother’s Day I got to spend with her. I normally would brush things off as I’m a frequent visitor but to be out of that many things, take that long, missing items, with the bread being hard, the steak being dry and the fact the other people got served way before us made me think our food had set for a good while. The attention to detail and manners by the waiter was lacking. I understand he probably had a hard day with the holiday and I understand that the restaurant had probably served a lot of food due to the Mothers Day holiday, but they should have been well stocked knowing there was a holiday this weekend and been prepared for it. I’m totally disappointed in my experience and will likely give Longhorn a try next time over Texas Roadhouse. Hopefully they can improve their staff and better stock their supplies before the next holiday weekend. We paid almost $100 to eat only to have to stop at another restaurant on the way home to feed my smaller children and I had to eat something else when I got home as I only got to eat my small dry steak, and a small portion of my potato. If someone spends $100 on food they should not have to leave there and stop somewhere else for food! I was already having a hard Mothers Day because of my mom passing and only went there in memory of her only to be disappointed and the day be worsened. It felt like some kind of sick...
Read moreThis is a review that starts off bad but ends well. My wife and I love Texas Roadhouse - one of the few chains we will eat dinner at. Today, while they were incredibly busy, several things went wrong. But they corrected and took responsibility.
We ordered for pickup online at 2pm. The app said to arrive at 2:30. We arrived at 2:30. I want to note that we did NOT have the biggest order going out from what I could see (I saw massive orders being carried to cars - & I have zero clue what kind of madhouse they were dealing with inside), so I understand we were probably not the most stressful order they were dealing with at that time. They were behind so we proceeded to wait. At 2:48, I went to the window to check on the order. They checked for it. It was not ready. I was fine with waiting - I could see they were busy. & hell, it was after church on Valentine's Day in Somerset. At 3:10 I checked in, they looked for my ticket, still a no-go. At this point we just realized we need to hunker down, not get impatient, and wait for our order. By 3:45 I was noticing orders for people who had arrived after us were going out, and then I actually saw someone who had been sat inside while we waiting in our car leave. I am thinking "Are these folks just eating salads or something that doesn't require the grill?". So I go check. They find my bag. I ask the girl at the window "It hasn't been sitting there a long time, has it?" (I'm no stranger to restaurant work - I'm already thinking I'm getting "dead" food). She said "No, our kitchen has just been backed up and everything came out at once." 5 mins later (we live about 5 mins away), we open our food. We should have probably checked, but 2 salads were missing, several sauces were missing, and our food was all DEAD cold. I mean, cold potato skins, cold filet mignon, cold bone in ribeye... Like, COLD. No one wants to put a filet in the air fryer, but ya know... Ya gotta do what you gotta do.
I'm not one to call and complain. I'm not one to ask for a refund. I'm pretty tolerant - My wife is a restaurant manager, and I worked in restaurant management for years myself. I saw they were busy. It was the LIST of things that broke me. So I called.
Now to why they get 5 stars: I have never had a bad experience before. I know this is not typical. When I called and spoke to a manager, there was ZERO resistance or trying to dodge responsibility. They owned it, they refunded. I know there is nothing wrong with Texas Roadhouse, this was just one horrible experience out of many good ones that we've had in the past and I'm sure we'll have in the future. I really appreciate management owning the mistake and refunding our order. We may have wasted 2 hours waiting on cold food, but I have no doubt that it was an honest mistake, and that they are standing behind their food...
Read moreCame to Texas Roadhouse for dinner with the family. We arrived around 8pm, the booth they sat us at the seat was nasty and dirty. We had to have them clean it before sitting down, after being seated it took our waitress 8 minutes to even come to the table for drink orders. It was not a busy evening at the time we arrived, the parking lot was dang near empty. Our waitress was in a heated rush to get our order. After asking her to please fill our drink order first it took 3.5 minutes for 4 drinks, and again wanted to rush us to order our food. We asked for a couple more minutes as it takes a few moments with children to get their orders down. Took the waitress 5.5 minutes to come back to get our order. We went to place our order and they were out of the appetizer that we wanted, then the second appetizer we wanted they were also out of that. We had the children's order put in while the wife and I had to find something different to eat. It took 7 minutes for the waitress to come back to the table to get the rest of our order. When our salads arrived, no surprise here, but shrinkflation has hit again. The salads were half the size that they used to be. It took 18 minutes for our order to come to the table, our medium rare steak was grey, and cooked medium well. Sent the steak back, let's see how long it takes to refile a steak medium rare. After sending the steak back, a so called manager bought out a steak in under 3 minutes when I cut into it, it was rare, the so called general manager told me I did not know medium rare was. Vencil May presented himself as the General Manager, which he certainly is not. He berated me in front of my family to the point where even my 13 year old son called out the manager for his rudeness, and making up lies. Then the waitress comes back after we barely start to eat and asks if we need to go boxes. Like we are being rushed out of the restaurant for sending a steak back. Manager refused to re-fire the steak, instead threatened to kick us out of the restaurant.
Bottom line, Texas Roadhouse has gone down hill and fast. I did my externship for Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in 2021 at this very Texas Roadhouse as hot prep.
I will be giving my business to Longhorn Steakhouse...
