Ordered ahead and bought a "specialty" Birthday cake #39 for my daughters 16th birthday on Easter Sunday. Didn't need a whole sheet cake so the person taking the order said we could get it on a round cake but they wouldn't be able to do the whole design. Understandably, smaller cake..no room. Said ok and asked for butter cream frosting. She advised that they would not be able to put the design as shown on the website picture on the side of the cake due to the type of frosting. Said ok and went ahead and ordered. Picked it up Easter Sunday at 11 am and there wasn't anyone else in the store....seemed strange after we were told how "busy" they would be and to make sure we took a number. The store closed at noon and the cases were full with product...however they didn't have any of the traditional Easter goodies like the St. Joseph's Zeppoli or the Easter Bread I was looking to pick up additionally. Was told that they didn't make those items. What?...I had to check that I was in an Italian Bakery. Cake was already boxed and tied so it was not presented to me for inspection like most bakery's do. Got home and surprise...it had some designs on the side...someone didn't know what they were talking about i guess. It looked ok, nothing special and it really didn't seem like much effort went into reproducing the picture of the cake on their website even with the understanding that it wouldn't be exactly the same. Then I thought well maybe they messed up and didn't use a butter cream frosting as ordered. Didn't matter what frosting they used because it was horrible. Nobody ate the cake, including the birthday girl because it was so bad. Basically tasted like lard...no flavor..no sweetness. Everyone said the same thing...they must have forgotten to add sugar and vanilla. I'm a reasonable guy so I tried to call them. Haven't been able to get a live person and my calls have not been returned. Tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but they obviously don't care. Look at some of the most recent posting...seems like they are concentrating on their catering business and quantity over quality. Thanks Lyndell's...so much for good memories for my daughter. Easter comes once a year...16th Birthday's are once in a lifetime. You are not the Bakery you use to be or as I...

I was extremely unsatisfied with not only the cake but the customer service their rude pass blame attitude was upsetting when they came so highly recommended. I was called on the pickup date and was busy setting up did not answer when I called back I got a woman and simply said you called me regarding a cake pick up I repeated myself 3 times she then said “NO! We did not do that “with an attitude in her voice… I had my gps on and my phone disconnected on her. I was driving to the location and she proceeded to call me back 3 times in a row on the forth call I picked up she exclaimed did you hang up on me! I explained to her what took place and we disconnected, when I arrived at the location they brought me my cake I emailed a picture to the Somerville location of a 2 tier cake I got a one tier cake and when I explained it was not what I ordered the gentleman behind the counter said " I did not take this order" in all fairness I know you didn't do it but as part of a team you are responsible for the order as...

I’ve been meaning to stop by Lyndell’s after a friend of mine recommended I come here! I walked in and there was such a variety of baked goods to look and choose from. Staff were very welcoming and didn’t rush any customers to order. I got a raspberry pastry and 2 half moon cakes; one vanilla and one chocolate. They had a deal that day where it was BOGO free for the half moon cakes! Total came out to $6.75. The raspberry pastry was delicious! Soft, fluffy bread with some cinnamon with the tangy, sweetness from the raspberry jam and icing. Half moon cakes- both cakes were pretty good, not dry and not too sweet which was good because the icing on top of them were pretty sweet. It’s a considerable amount of frosting, so be warned if you cannot handle too much much sugar! All and all, I’d love to try more goodies from Lyndell’s! ^^

I ordered a wedding cake from Lyndell's, and I am so glad I did! I always loved their black & white cookies, and when I was thinking of where I could get a small, simple wedding cake that tasted delicious, they immediately came to mind. I called and easily ordered the cake over the phone in a few minute - you would probably need to go in person if you were ordering a more complicated and larger cake, but the person on the phone easily helped me get my simple request squared away. I had cake toppers that I was really looking forward to using, and the cake matched them absolutely perfectly. We served other desserts for our guests, so this cake was just for us, and it was absolutely delicious!! I'd recommend anyone in the Boston area to get their wedding cake from Lyndell's - thank you again!

Lyndell's has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My father grew up just down the street from them, so every birthday, growing up, was always a Lyndell's cake. When I started seeing my now wife, I bought her a Lyndell's cake for the first birthday we shared together. It has now become a yearly tradition. Birthdays aren't the same without Lyndell's. Just the beginning of this month, Lyndell's made us our wedding cake. A beautiful 2 tier fall season cake. The top tier was red velvet (which I'm not usually sold on, but theirs is amazing) & the bottom teir was wedding white with raspberry jam. Karen was amazing in making sure that our cake was exactly what we were looking for. I would recommend Lyndell's to anyone. They are truly great at what they do!
