The bakers here are miracle workers--they helped save our wedding cake at the last minute, and did an amazing job.
Our wedding cake was originally made by a different bakery, and it partially collapsed just a few hours before we were ready to serve it. I called Scandia, and told them about our cake emergency. While most other bakeries wouldn't even hear me out, Marcela at Scandia was willing to help! I sent over a picture of our cake, and they told us to bring it in. Once we were there, she quickly identified the issue and figured out the best way we could salvage the cake. They agreed to deliver the cake at the wedding venue later that night, right before we served it.
When I dropped off the cake at Scandia, it was in such bad shape that I did not have high hopes. I would've been very happy if they just managed to save one or two of the layers and made them relatively presentable. However, they went above and beyond: they saved all three layers, and made each one look better than the original. I was extremely impressed with the end result--it both looked and tasted fantastic.
To Marcela, and whoever else helped her on this one: we really appreciate the hard work. You saved our wedding cake under a strict timeline, and gave us an amazing story that we will definitely tell every time we think back to our...
Read moreI absolutely LOVE this bakery!!! We went to Sonoma for a romantic get-away (from S.F.), and I had not been there in about 13 years. All that time, I had been pining for Scandia's Princess Cake. OMG, it was the BEST! I remember introducing it to a friend back then, who said, "That was so good, I had to close my eyes." Yup, it was so good, it almost sounded dirty. Well, after 13 yrs., I am ecstatic to report that it is as wonderfully delicious as ever. The Bolivian woman baker who runs the place is also the nicest bakery lady EVER. I was rushing to get there before closing--running in 5-inch platform shoes, in fact--but was actually a few minutes late. Still, she saw us and warmly opened her doors, saying, "If we're here, we'll let you in." Then, after getting my Princess Cake, we told her we had two little girls, and she asked if she could give us some beautiful pink butterfly cookies for them. "You can't say 'no' to a Bolivian lady," she said. Ma'am, I would NEVER say...
Read moreAmazing sweets and great drinks but poor customer service. There is nothing like having a great morning with the family and having it interrupted by an apathetic person. At least be polite enough to respond when someone says thank you or have a nice day. Look if you’re just unhappy that’s fine but if part of your job is to have decent social skills and not be rude then learn or get a different job where happy people don’t have to see you roll your eyes out of...
