My wife and I checked into this hotel on 13-Jul and stayed 4 nights. We had one of the rooms that face the courtyard opposite the downtown plaza. The courtyard is actually the outdoor seating area for the restaurant that is part of the property. I think the room was recently renovated; it wasn't a large room, but it was more than adequate for our needs. It did not have a microwave, but it did have a nice fridge and a espresso/coffe machine. There was also a terrace that we enjoyed each evening. The staff was fantastic; especially Pablo who greeted us when we arrived and gave some excellent recommendations for places to eat and things to do. I would have rated our stay 5 stars were it not for few items that were detractors. This property has a PARKING issue. There are 24 rooms in the hotel and there are 12 parking places. This wasn't a problem when we arrived on Sunday, but it was a problem later in the week when there was an event on the downtown plaza. You are issued a parking pass to place inside your car to identify you as a guest of the hotel, but what we discovered was that this was only to make you feel like you had some sort of privilege to park in the hotel's lot. This is not enforced, and you may have to park on the street. We had to park 3 blocks away during the Tuesday Night Market event. Another issue is that all of the rooms are on the 2nd floor and there is...

LOVED this hotel. It's super cute, well designed with a cozy sophisticated feel. Reminds me of Palihouse hotels.

  1. Location- Its in the center of downtown Sonoma downtown. Walkable to a ton of shops, restaurants, etc. We even walked to Whole Foods from here.
  2. Room. Typical standard size room but loved the little balcony, amenities like steamer for clothes, COLD mini fridge with water provided, coffee machine and blankets (cause it was quite cold when we went there). Heater/AC system worked perfectly.
  3. Bed. Comfy queen size bed that felt kinda of like a king. I slept really well as it was soft but not too soft.
  4. Bathroom. Cute tall shower with shower stool (am going to buy one for my shower) and Toto toilet. The shampoo/conditioner smelled organic and very minty.
  5. Free Parking. Parking was a little crowded at the height of the weekend but always found a spot.
  6. Service. Very friendly service and everyone was so nice and helpful. Excellent service.
  7. Restaurant. Ate there for breakfast. Was a tad expensive but this is Sonoma. Loved the chilaquiles.

Overall for the money- I definitely recommend this hotel. Sonoma and Napa are expensive and thought the price was great for the quality you get. I would come here...

We stayed at the El Dorado and hosted a private luncheon for a Celebration of Life in one of the private dining rooms. The service was outstanding from the moment we arrived. Stephanie at the front desk promptly got us checked into multiple rooms with a smile. The glass of red wine was a welcome surprise. The bartender on duty did an excellent job managing an informal family gathering in the bar. Lila, Director of Sales and her assistant Sarah helped us plan and organize an amazing sit down luncheon. And Daniel and his team provided impeccable service throughout the afternoon luncheon. I must add that the food, was amazing - generous portions, expertly prepared and delicious. The rooms are newly renovated and well appointed. The bathroom is large with a full size walk-in shower. We have already planned a return next week! We highly recommend both the hotel and kitchen for your next...

Charming hotel in an historic building, conveniently located on the Sonoma Plaza. The staff is attentive, the restaurant was great, and the facility is well-kept. My friend found the showers a bit on the small side, but I’m much shorter, so it didn’t bother me. Couldn’t say if every room is like that or not. We had a king overlooking the Plaza. Sonoma rolls up the sidewalks about 9-10 pm, so noise was not an issue for us. There is espresso on the rooms and brewed coffee in the lobby each morning. Parking requires a tag from the hotel. We didn’t have any trouble finding a spot, but on Tuesday there was a Farmer’s Market in the Plaza, so that created some traffic. It was also quite fun to walk around and enjoy the band and family atmosphere as it seems the whole town comes out for it. Nice to see people enjoying being together. Overall, a lovely place in a great location. Would stay again.

This was a great hotel overall and the best one I’ve stayed in California during a 1.5 week long trip. It was very nicely decorated. The room was comfy, the shower was more convenient to use than what I’ve seen in other hotels. Overall this hotel is about getting the details right, for example the cosmetics was nice, they treated us with a welcome glass of wine and some delicious cookies, the room had really nice wine glasses and much better than average coffee maker etc. The staff were very welcoming too. The only nuisance - although pretty large one - was the loud noise at night coming from the ceiling. I bet something was broken because the noise was as if a helicopter was about to take off. We only stayed for one night so did not make a big deal out of it and I am hoping this is a one off thing they will fix
