I worked in this business as a night shift/overnight service assistant/dishwasher from december 22 through april 23. I was wrongfully Terminated. Dan and Tesla lied during the firing. The incident started as such. A waitress (Ashley) accidentally dropped the to go boxes on the dirty line/cook floor that's extremely dirty. She came around, picked them up and asked tesla if she should throw them away or put them back. First of all, why and how should that even be a question? I watched and heard Tesla tell her to put them back on the line. I confronted Tesla on it and an argument insued. During the argument she stated that she had ashley put them back because they would be thrown away eventually. First of all there is 3 trash cans on that line, right behind her. So if they were going to be thrown away. They would've been right on the spot. I eventually asked if i could throw them away because of how nasty that was. She told me i could throw them away so i did. 2 days later i returned for my shift and was pulled to the side by Dan and Tesla. Dan said i was being let go because of the incident. And when i told him what happened he did not care. Favoritism. I told him what tesla said about the to go boxes, what had happened. And she eventually chimed in and agreed and said i wasnt working out. She then said i threw away clean boxes that were not dropped and that she had already thrown them away. And i confronted her right after she said that about it. Put her on the spot in front of Dan. I asked her why did you tell me to throw them away if they were clean? If they weren't the dirty ones? They maneuvered everything into their favor and wrongfully terminated me. They thought i was a threat so they got rid of me. What a shame. To pile this on top of the bad publicity this company has garnered over the last few years in general.
Favoritism and illegal discrimination is very common here. Dan (General Manager) is responsible. I had not 1, but 4 hostile confrontations with his daytime dishwasher (Tommy Brown). He showed up occasionally and would just hang out in the back dining area until his shift started. He was heavily intoxicated and on drugs each time he started those confrontations. The Manager that night (Tesla) had to have him removed by the police because he was also getting irate with and threatening her too. No consequences ever befell tommy and my complaints fell on deaf ears. The general manager (Dan) excused it as him suffering from mental health and told me to end the negativity or find a job elsewhere. That is creating a hostile/toxic work environment. Tommy didn't so much as get a write up. Dan's favoritism in play. I have text messages from dan to prove it. Dan lies to all of his employees.
The daytime cook on sundays (Craig) who wears a green apron always hides his dirty egg skillets in the back dry storage room where the chemical supplies are stored. Found in one of 2 grey totes on the bottom shelf to the left. Same waitress from earlier (Ashley) and an overnight cook (Nikkita) only had 1 hard/old biscuit left one night on a to go order that needed more. Ashley said to send it out anyway, that the soup would soften it up and if the customer complained about the amount they could take it up with door dash. Another cook (Josh Lewis) i have seen casually throwing bread for meals on to the counter instead of a clean plate or any other dish. In the back room where the drink pumps are if you look up you'll see the ceiling falling in because of extensive water damage and a case of toxic black mold they are trying to cover up. Layer of grease on the floor by the back freezers. There's a waterline issue under the building and its coming through the dish pit floor. This building is unsafe as well. This business needs to be shut down. The general manager (Dan) needs to be held accountable. And so does Tesla. Also, Tesla and other employees bring Marijuana, other drugs and alcohol to work and do them on the side of the building. Nikkita's boyfriend stays in her suv in the back all night...
Read moreToday was a very busy day. Power is only working in a few good places and Denny's has working AC. The hour wait is understandable considering the circumstances and 7 person party. However, the server Marissa needs more training. When the food arrived there was only 1 each of bacon and sausage instead of 2 each on the American slam. When we asked her, "doesn't the American slam come with 2 each?" she flat out told us, "no it only comes with 1 each" then walked away. We sat for awhile waiting for the rest of our food and then finally grabbed another menu and checked because we were sure it was 2. A manager was nearby helping to bus a table so we informed him of the error and he brought out the missing meats. Marissa watched as he brought us the meat from across the room. She went by several times helping other tables and we had to inquire a few times just to get the toast for the rest of the American slam. Another order was still being waited on for our table. Since the manager brought the meat, all other foods were slow to get to us. We even had to get our own silverware even after requesting some. We witnessed as she also forgot about other tables like the one beside us who just wanted a menu, then finally just gave up on that. The girl seems nice enough, and I am sure it was hectic today, but to tell a customer they are wrong about their order without even checking or consulting is TERRIBLE customer service. She definitely needs more training in the menu, efficient task management, and CS etiquette.
Estelle was the last to check us out. We discussed how the service was bad and she inquired about what we wanted to do for a tip. Twice I told her 10%. The first time it was going to go on my sister's card and she said "how about $5?" to end the matter we just said "okay". Her card declined so instead we paid on my card. Again she inquired about the tip since it is a different card. Again I told her 10%. With our receipt in her hand she tells me "I don't know how much 10% is, how about $5?" seriously? You move the decimal 1 place to the left. At like 60-70 years old, you would think she might know this. So Marissa lost out on $1.62 because Estelle couldn't figure out 10%, didn't care to ask if we knew it, nor attempted in any way to figure it out.
I understand it was busy. But employees are the face of the company... And these are the employees that represent the Bradenton tore on cortez. IGNORANCE and LAZINESS and the first things that come to mind about these employees. Terrible customer service.
Good was okay. Average in taste, but definitely not enough to save this experience. We won't be coming back.
I hope Marissa and Estelle are...
Read moreIt is Easter and I've eaten at several Denny's around the state with great experience, EXCEPT THIS LOCATION. I came to this location for the first time because it is closer to my house. I arrived and first thing I noticed was how VERY filthy the windows of the front doors were. I entered and there was no fresh scent of the restaurant. The wait staff did not have the welcoming attitude. As I walk to my seat, the floor were dirty and I could hear myself every step.
The wait staff scuffed their feet all around and can't even pick up their feet to walk. My waitress had to comment how workers did not show up. AS A GUEST, I DONT WANT TO HEAR THE PROBLEMS YOUR LOCATION IS HAVING. ITS A MANAGERS PROBLEMS WHICH WAS OVERFLOWING TO THE GUEST, ESPECIALLY WITH THE FOOD. I looked around the table for sugar for my coffee and the sugar holders had food residue caped on them that wasn't even cleaned off.
I ordered my food which was the Cinnamon Roll Pancake Breakfast. I get my order and the first thing I notice was how small the pancakes were, but LORD JESUS, the amount of cream cheese that was squeezed on top of the pancakes. I had 3/4 icing and 1/4 pancakes which was exactly how it tasted, which I was only able to eat half of them. The pancakes were SO thin. I asked for ketchup for my potatoes, which there were non on my table. Waitress went to 2 nearby tables and the 2 bottles of ketchup were almost completely empty, but let's just put them on my table and then state I'll get a new one. The used bottles had ketchup visible around the lid and not wiped off. The new bottle was slapped down on my table and I went to use it, BUT THE BOTTLE WAS EVEN OPENED.
I couldn't even wait to leave. The atmosphere was not inviting, especially for the day being Easter. I work in a restaurant and a guest experience is so important. It seems that the management at this location does not pay attention to details and make sure the employees complete cleanup duties all around (doors, windows, floors, tables, condiments, holders, etc.). I was afraid to go to the bathrooms.
Hope other guests to this location have a better experience and able to enjoy the holiday and...
