This place is a perennial favorite breakfast place for the Siesta Key community. They do a big time trade every day of the week and support their reputation with good wholesome food and an army of support staff who start cleaning your table almost instantly when your party gets up, another employee sets up the table serving, a hostess notes the now free table and calls the next folks on the list at the door and you’re guided to the table and in a flash delivered water w/ lemon and asked if you want coffee; which is rated good by our party. They’re definitely like a well oiled machine in terms of getting folks in and out efficiently while at the same time not seeming like they’re rushing you. Our party of four eats here several times over the course of our month on the key and we’ve fallen into a regular list of selections. I get the cheese omelet but often forget that they don’t have hash browns and the home fries are just little chunks of cut up potatoes with very little spicing and very little cooking. Next time I’ll follow the ladies lead and get the fruit salad as my side. And if you don’t want your side of sausage mixed into the omelet you must specify “a side of sausage”. Some of our group has been known to get the pancakes which are indeed light, fluffy, and delicious. One time saving technique employed at the Mango is to provide your table with the waiter’s meal notes stapled to the cash register bill at the time your food is delivered. I suppose if you wanted to have separate checks you’d better let them know at the front end because otherwise it’s one check for all and you’re expected to get up when finished and take the bill to the front to be cashed out. That way there’s no waiting around to find the waiter to ask for the check, have them bring the check for your perusal, and then to lay your cards out for them to take ‘em away only to bring it back for a signature. At the Mango once you’re done eating you get up from the table and they immediately clear it away, clean it up and put some other folks in your chairs before they’ve even had a chance to cool down. We really love the place. For the relatively small size of the restaurant they manage to feed and satisfy a gargantuan number of patrons. The army of various employees have been universally friendly over the years, the food has been such a cut above the greasy spoon Waffle and Huddle Houses of the world and it feels like an authentic Siesta Key institution that everyone seems to partake in. We kind of feel like we’ve arrived the first time we check in each year. Thanks...
Read moreDisappointed. Came for what I was told would be a fabulous breakfast. So I tried their special - 2 eggs, bacon, French toast and home fries. Over medium egg order came out over easy with runny yolks and the whites still uncooked inside. They kindly offered to replace them but then brought the new order cooked exactly like the previous order - with the whites still uncooked inside and the yolks completely runny. This time when I showed them how they were still raw inside and weren’t cooked over medium I was told that they were over medium and that next time I should order them “medium-well”. Again they kindly offered to make another order of eggs but by this time the rest of our table was done eating so I declined the offer. As for the rest of the meal - Bacon was luke warm and rubbery and the home fries were anything but crispy. However, the French toast with mango butter was excellent. That was where the excellence ended. The service was chaotic and unorganized. We had 4-5 different people servicing our table and none of them seemed to communicate with each other. Requests for condiments, etc had to be made repeatedly. When the bill arrived there was no adjustment made for the eggs so we had to request a credit. After waiting for about 15 minutes, this request also had to be repeated. We were finally given 10% ($3.52) off the bill. When we arrived we all thought it might be a great place to come back to for lunch but by the end of the meal we all agreed that there wouldn’t be...
Read moreMy wife and I live on the key. We decided to try the Toasted Mango for breakfast because it is out the of the way and many people don't know about it. We could not believe how RUDE the hostess was, not only to us buy the people ahead of us!! WE both left without eating.... She didnt say good morning or greet us in any way.... Just whats your name, wrote it down and basically ignored us until she rudely told us we couldnt stand there, we were in her way? LOL..... The people ahead of us, look at us astonished and I said im leaving this dump. The people ahead of us said we are following.... we discussed outside how dismissive and rude they were inside and life doesnt have to be that way... They deal with tourists daily, people wh probably wont be back so they treat them like dirt! Well , we live here and have told this story 50 times so far.... Stay away. We ended up going to First Watch which is just awesome!! Greeted by a young lady who smiled and asked how many.... the waiter was polite and friendly.... the FOOD IS INCREDIBLE!!!...... what a great dining experience it was..... The Toasted Mango can burn down as far as we are concerned.... all because of one ignorant rude hostess.... NOTE most of the other reviews here are " locale Guides"... they are paid reviews. take pics, get free food, etc. never see a bad review from a Local guide, do you??...
