Had made reservations for 15-20 people for an open tab and pre set appetizers after my wedding Rehearsal Dinner at Seabrook Island Country club - the event was âWine with the Brideâ at 48 Wine Bar. The person working at 48 Wine Bar that evening was different from the manager I ordered appetizers with and arranged drink tickets with. Upon entering I was immediately asked to leave because my group of women (15 women) - including my mother, grandmother, and aunts - were âunexpectedly more than anticipatedâ and a ânuisance to other guests trying to dineâ. Shocked and very upset by the treatment I received, me and my family / bridal party left immediately (of course). There was no apology by the staff. After I got back from my honeymoon, I left a review on their Instagram and they deleted my comment and blocked me. There was no apology by management. I am very hurt and disappointed by this treatment as 48 Wine and the establishments they own in Freshfields used to be considered my favorites in Johns Island! As a local, I would not recommend this establishment for any type event or evening out. It was truly embarrassing and could have ruined the evening of my wedding rehearsal if the Andell Inn (the boutique Marriott hotel in Freshfields) did not come to my rescue, quickly accommodating my party (w/o reservation) with appetizers, wine and impeccable service. Mind you, my husband made the same type of reservations at King Street Grille a few steps from 48 Wine Bar..Upon entering KSGrille, the staff had appetizers pre-set on the table and a server that greeted the group and showed him to their area. The server acted as the groups personal point of communication if they needed anything at all. I expected so much more from 48 Wine Bar and will not be back or recommend to any friends visiting Kiawah or Seabrook Island.

The damage you caused is unfortunately done and your opportunity to correct your actions has far passed. To any Brides hoping this would be a nice spot for drinks with family and friends during your wedding week - please be warned! I would recommend you looking into other establishments in Freshfields Village. Here are a few of my favorites: the Andell Inn Boutique Hotel bar, La Tella Pizzeria, Hege's. King Street Grille is a fabulous choice for your Groom and his grooms-party for dinner or an after...

Our servers, Dara and Dina were great! (There was also one other lady who was great too but I didnât catch her name! She had short, dark hair though!!Sorry for not getting it before we left!) The staff are very personable and made our evening memorable. We were celebrating a birthday and they made us feel so special!
The items we tried were: -Warm crab and artichoke dip -Caesar salad -Jumbo lump crab cakes -Shrimp, corn, & bacon ravioli with additional shrimp added on top
ALL of the food was absolutely delicious! We were told that the chef is from Maryland and that explains why the crab cakes are to die for! They are basically all jumbo lump crab meat with very minimal amount of filler. They are pure perfection! The mustard style aioli is wonderful too. I did ask for a little extra on the side but other than that, perfect! Truly the best Iâve ever had.
There are so many different types of wine around the room and I thought it was fun to read about the wines and sample them.
At the end of the meal, they brought some key lime pie and a glass of champagne for the birthday celebration and it was truly special!
Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an excellent meal accompanied by a great staff! They use local ingredients and have fresh seafood. The shrimp are local from Crosbyâs so they are very tasty!
We are spoiled with lots of great restaurants in Charleston but I will say, this is now one of my favorites!
We had a reservation and were seated promptly upon arrival. We went on a Sunday night and they stayed pretty busy but some walk-ins could definitely have come in to grab a meal. Not sure what it normally looks like in there but based on everything I read, you should make a reservation! We called to make our reservation but I saw on the screen while we were dining that you can reserve a table in Resy as well.
Thank yâall for a wonderful evening! We are looking forward to...
Read moreSeveral years ago, my husband, local friend and I discovered this place! We had an awesome experience! One year ago, my daughter and I visited and even though they didnât still have our favorite wine on tap, we poured a glass and sat outside and enjoyed a glass of wine- hesitantly, because of the pandemic . Today, officially ended any further dealings with this establishment- I, my daughter, granddaughter and a very pregnant friend of my daughterâs were met with such rudeness and condescension, that I wouldnât return if paid to return! My daughter, wearing a mask (a requirement in NC) went inside to request an outdoor table. We were told there was no service outside even though on the night before, the tables outside were all occupied. We asked if we might just get our wine and food and sit outside ( baby granddaughter is unvaccinated and a pregnant friend) . Some woman working there said âWell, if you do then others will see and want to, but I guess soâ! I went inside to see which wines were on tap and she approached me and told me I must buy a card- I have been there before/ I know that! I said I wanted to see what was on tap before I bought a card and asked if they also served mixed drinks- I had not noticed that before when I had been! She -very rudely- reminded me that they really didnât want to open up tables outside! I left- never to return! I donât care if itâs,SC, NC, VT, CA or ME, if you have outdoor tables and there is a pandemic I place, you should offer them to people who would prefer outdoor seating! She was rude and quite frankly, I think she was prejudiced against our wearing a mask and wanting to sit outside! You wonât be seeing us again and our friends who live at Bohicket and on Seabrook will most likely...
