If you're wanting the fun and excitement that you've gotten from every hibachi restaurant you've ever been to, then don't go here. The atmosphere was lame, the chef did not interact or talk to anyone at the table, he didn't do anything "neat" while he was cooking...no knife tricks or onion volcano or throwing stuff for people to catch with their mouths! The food was okay...ginger sauce/dressing is not like any I've ever had before, just tasted like ginger and soyaki, their yum yum sauce was also not your typical yum yum sauce, tasted like it had horse radish in it, and my fish tasted fishy...and good fish shouldn't taste the way that a harbor smells. I was hoping the fact that they drowned my red snapper in teriyaki sauce would make the fish taste better, but it didn't(the menu said nothing about teriyaki sauce on my snapper, but I guess that's what you do when you don't have fresh fish!). I was looking forward to the dinner because I'm our here, 7 states away from home, for a work conference, and on my birthday none the less. I was attempting to have a good time since I'm by myself, but sitting in silence eating subpar food was not what I had in mind... and I drove an hour...
Read moreThe sushi was fresh, delicious, and inventive. Probably the best I’ve had in Greenwood so far! Service was very nice as well.
On the other hand, I was deeply disturbed to see their beautiful large Arowana fish “Sushi” kept in such inappropriate conditions. The fish was confined to a totally barren and small tank, completely alone and without any enrichment or natural elements to make its environment suitable. A fish of this size needs a large, spacious tank with proper decor to mimic their natural habitat, as well as stimulation to prevent stress and boredom. Seeing such a remarkable fish in a stark, lifeless tank was not only heartbreaking but also unethical.
Using animals as decorative display pieces, particularly when their needs are not met, reflects poorly on your establishment. It is abhorrent to exploit living beings in this way. I urge you to reconsider your decision to keep this fish and, at the very least, take steps to provide it with proper care—or, better yet, rehome it to someone who can offer the conditions it deserves.
Until this issue is resolved, I cannot recommend your restaurant to others. A dining experience should not come at the expense of...
Read moreI never write reviews for restaurants. This one was so appalling, I had to. I'm by no means new to Japanese food. I make Japanese foods at home. Nagoya served what was, by far, the worst Japanese food I have ever had in my life.
The hot green tea was horrendous. It had all the bad tastes of sencha and nothing more. Couldn't tell it was green tea if I were blindfolded.
The spring rolls were the worst I've ever had. They were over-fried and I could barely tell there were vegetables inside.
The shrimp sauce was a poor imitation of Yum Yum sauce, and the teriyaki sauce was terrible and barely reminiscent of the real thing.
The hibachi veggies did not look or taste fresh.
Without a doubt, the worst thing was the soup. Basically hot water with two thin slices of raw mushrooms and two lonely pieces of fusilli pasta. No tofu, miso, or flavor.
On the bright side, the fried rice was decent, and the hibachi scallops and chicken were appropriately cooked. I know the South has bad Asian food, but this is next-level bad. I'd grade this a 10/100, and most of that is for the hibachi skills...
