We have been here several times over the last year or so, I often meet for friends for breakfast here and sometimes the family goes out to dinner here. Typically the food is okay, it is nothing exciting or some culinary experience, it is just okay as it is a diner type place. However, lately it has been slipping in service and quality. Last night the we went there for dinner and it was almost empty when we got there, two other tables, greeted fairly promptly, friendly young server, but from there it just slowed down. We all ordered burgers, we asked for medium well to well, but medium well is good enough on a burger for us. First, our food finally comes up in the window after quite the wait, we can see it from where we are sitting, there are two servers working and our server is tied up taking an order from a 6 top that just came in. The other server has been grabbing and bagging to go orders for customers and delivery services but he goes over, sees our food in the pass, moves it a bit grabbing the plates, I assume he is going to be efficient like you should be and bring the food out for the other server that is busy. Instead he walks away, he goes back by it at least once in about 5 minutes, then finally as our server is putting the other order into the computer he decides to bring our food out no that it has been dying in the pass for so long, I believe it was to get it out of his way. My chili burger is rare to medium rare, the meat inside is cold and soft. I wave down the server, explain it to her, she takes the plate to the other server and asks his opinion for she takes it to the kitchen. If you cannot spot a rare to mid rare, cold red meat in center as not being mid well, maybe a diner is not even the place for you. Family enjoys their burgers generally, nothing exciting once again, I eat my fries, chili burger finally makes it way back, server suggests a to go box. Yup, pack it up and let me pay and leave. Three people having dinner there with some mozzarella cheese sticks for app, almost $100. Food sub par, service way down hill, this is the end. We will...

I typically like the small shop diners, stop and go dining huts, and even the dingy diners — so long as my dishes are clean. I’m usually pretty lenient about faded lipstick marks too because some of those long lasting ones seem practically indelible.
I order a grapefruit juice and decaf. The beverages are delivered. I take a sip of the juice. There is a bump on my lip. There appears to be some splatter on the glass. I’m turn it around, there is splatter and other foodstuffs. I opt to skip my juice. My coffee cup was good after a quick inspection. Coffee here by the way is mild and tasty. It’s like having coffee with your great uncle who prefers the mild stuff. Food arrives: I’ve ordered the chicken fried chicken and eggs. The runner let’s us know the rye will be right up. I wait. I wait a tad longer then decided to just dig in because I’m not a fan of cold eggs. My butter knife is dirty. My initial thought is the dishwasher is probably acting up. I scrub it with a dampened napkin. My eggs are nearly finished, I ate them with the hash browns. Which were perfectly crispy on the top and bottom and tender in between. The server swings by to let me know the my rye toast is cooking 😶. I say “thank you” and move on to my chicken fried chicken. This is one my favorite dishes. I don’t eat it much because not many places serve it and it’s time intensive to make, plus the calories 😀 It’s slightly over salted but it’s good. It reminded of a place I used to go for “morning after” food. The pepper really speaks up in the country gravy and batter complimenting the chicken and salt. We settle up. I paid the bill in full and gave my standard double tax but I don’t know if I’ll go out of my way to return. I don’t live in the area and seldom need to eat out while there. Good food, but an exercise in antibody building. I think if they can work through the dirty dishes issues they would be worth the value. I didn’t pay attention to any other services they may have had, I.e., takeout...
Read moreI recently visited Tim's Kitchen for my girlfriend's birthday. We use to visit Tims Kitchen often but have moved further away so it's not so convient for us. We drove 45 minutes to get there, only to be thoroughly disappointed.
First, we were asked how we wanted our prime rib cooked, which was confusing since prime rib is typically served rare. We just went with it and both requested medium rare, but what we received was completely raw. We continued to eat the meat convincing ourselves it was supposed to be that way. After about half way through, we couldn't convince ourselves that the meat was cooked at all it was literally blue.
We brought this to our server's attention, and she agreed that the prime ribs looked completely raw. She took our plates to see what could be done. Jamie, who seemed to be a manager, came out and said, "I heard we had a problem with the prime ribs?" After explaining they were completely raw, she said, "Well, prime rib is supposed to be on the rare side, but I agree that they were more raw than they should have been. We are training a new person in the kitchen, so that's probably what happened. Unfortunately, you have eaten too much, so there's nothing I can do to refund you in any way." She then offered to re-sear the remaining meat or give us a free dessert to make up for it. After telling her we had lost our appetites at this point, she just apologized, saying, "I hope we can do better in the future," and walked away.
Our server, who was very sympathetic, brought us the full bill and apologized, saying she disagreed with the decision but its only her second day so shes not sure what she can do. She took down my number, hoping the owner would call to make things right since Jamie had no intention to.
Overall, this experience was incredibly disappointing, especially for a special occasion. I wish I took pictures before they took our plates. We won't be returning to Tim's Kitchen anytime soon and won't be recommending it to anyone like I have so many times...
