As you approach "The Break" you'll be greeted with a sign that reads along the lines of, "Welcome, please find a seat". Looking into the restaurant the first thing you feel is intimidation. We came on a Friday evening and the building was absolutely overflowing with patrons. We finally find a table in the corner near the stairs and wait for a server. Only to realize that the only way to see a menu, is by scanning a qr code laminated to the table. We are then redirected to a poorly formatted website for mobile phones. Navigating the menu felt like a chore, and cocktail prices were not listed.
We ordered 6 drinks and two entrees. The vodka cranberry and white Russian were very uninspired, however the "tropical trash can" was surprisingly pleasant. Enough to make us consider 2 stars. Our entrees were the garlic burger and nachos totaling in around 10$ each.
The garlic burger was one of the blandest, most thrown together burgers I've ever had in my life. Minced garlic on a slice of munster on a rubbery patty. That's it. Thank God for the condiments left on the table, because this sandwich was in desperate need of love. It came with a side of Mac and cheese. Also a severe disappointment. It could have been passable with a couple hits of salt, but alas; they only provide pepper on the tables. The nacho looked like a college dorm threw it together for their rushed frat party. A handful of Colby jack cheese and pico does not make a nacho. There are gas station nachos that would put this pile of chips to shame. Even with the benefit of being tipsy, the entire meal was quite the disappointment. Especially after seeing a 4.4/5 star rating on Google.
Our server was lovely and very polite and despite how busy it was, she took great care of us! After receiving the bill we were shocked to see that it totalled well past 80$. Easily breaking 100$ after the tip. I guess that's to be expected with the multiple cocktails we ordered. But the overall experience didn't feel anywhere near a 100$ dining experience. The atmosphere was stuffy, the food was bland at best, and the drinks add up fast. Go to...
Read moreI have very mixed opinions of this place. First, the good things. The food is good, and the drinks are generally good too. I really like the atmosphere, and it's the only place of it's kind we've found around here. Now the down sides. In the 4-5 times we've been there (I really wanted to like this place) the service has generally been rubbish. It's always slow and about half the servers we've had make you feel like they're indifferent or even mildly inconvenienced by your presence. In general, I'd give the place maybe 3 stars. It's not a place I get real excited about going to, no matter how much I want to like it. My wife and i also had the singularly worst dining experience we've ever had at this restaurant. In short, we had the wrong drinks delivered more than once, they spilled our drinks and then the guy just walked off leaving us to warn all the servers that were walking by that it was wet and to watch their step. They told us our taco order included more tacos than it did, and got something else wrong about the food too. In short, out of 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and 4 drinks, they only got 1 drink and one entree right. Then at the end they asked if there was anything they could do to make it right, and when we asked the gal to comp one of our drinks, she said that was against the law and walked off. Really, we had nothing good to say about the experience. Oh, and don't sit under the Bose subwoofer mounted to the wall....
Read moreFood: The food at The Break is definitely the star of the show. Their chicken wings are absolutely fantastic – perfectly crispy and flavorful. One of my favorite dishes was the Ciabatta Honey Bourbon breakfast sandwich, which came with Sriracha mayo, green peppers, egg, and bacon. The flavors were wonderfully balanced, and the Sriracha mayo added a delightful kick. On another visit, I tried the Spicy BK Chilaquiles, and I really enjoyed them. The dish was hearty, with just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere at The Break is everything you'd want from a sports bar. It's energetic, with plenty of TVs to keep you updated on all the latest sports action. The decor is modern, and there's a good mix of seating options, whether you prefer bar stools or more relaxed tables.
Service: While the food and atmosphere were top-notch, the service left something to be desired. It was notably slow, and I found myself having to ask for service multiple times. The wait for food was longer than expected, which was a bit disappointing given how great the food was once it arrived.
Overall, The Break is a fantastic spot for great food and a fun time, as long as you're patient with the service. With a little improvement in that area, it could easily become a go-to spot for sports enthusiasts and food...
