Edgewood Restaurant boasts a stunning location overlooking Lake Tahoe and snow-capped mountains. While the view is undeniably impressive, it's worth noting that their more casual restaurant, The Bistro, offers a similar vista in a cozier setting. If you prioritize the lake view, aim for an early dinner. You'll have a better chance of snagging a window seat, but be prepared to potentially finish your meal before the full sunset. The service was excellent. Upon arrival, the host promptly seated me, and my server followed shortly after, offering detailed explanations of the menu and recommending popular dishes. They even highlighted a three-course prix fixe option with optional wine pairings that seemed like a better value than ordering a la carte. The complimentary bread basket was a mixed bag. One bread had an olive oil drizzle that left a lingering bitter aftertaste, but the butter was delightful, with the perfect amount of salt. The first course, asparagus "bruschetta," was a bit of a letdown. The prosciutto was delicious, but the brioche dust seemed more decorative than flavorful. The asparagus and prosciutto combo wasn't quite to my taste. The second course offered a choice of elk or halibut. I opted for the elk, which was cooked well-done as recommended by the chef. While the combination of charred apple, pea purée, and tangerine demi was interesting, the overall texture was quite runny, making it difficult to eat. Finally, the dessert was the star of the show! The spring strawberry creation offered a delightful mix of textures and flavors, from gooey to crunchy and tart to sweet. Beautifully presented and bursting with flavor, it was easily the best part of the meal. I devoured it in no time, a feat considering my usual habit of leaving dessert half-eaten. My server deserves high praise for their attentiveness and friendliness. They explained each dish thoroughly and cleared my plates promptly between courses. Unfortunately, the food itself didn't quite justify the price tag. The portion size of the main course was small (though good), and the first course was underwhelming. Overall, Edgewood Restaurant offers an undeniably beautiful setting and attentive service. However, the food quality and portion sizes don't quite match the price point. If you're looking for a more casual and potentially better value option with a similar view, consider The Bistro at Edgewood. Just remember, valet parking is the only option here.

At the Edgewood, appearances are deceiving. While I don't expect huge portions, at $100+ per person, I hope to be well-fed. So I don't understand why some up-scale restaurants like the Edgewood think, "The higher the price, the smaller the portion." The Caesar salad was tasteless and didn't have enough lettuce to satisfy a gerbil. The single serving of 3 pieces of bread was never refilled. My wife's halibut was small and tasteless; three bites into it she says, "We should have gone someplace else." I was unfortunately thinking the same thing. My tenderloins were delicious, but, accompanied by two potato servings the size of my thumb, left me wanting more. The chocolate souffle was good but doesn't merit the five star price. The service was fine, but unremarkable. The food, like the sunset, looked great, but also like the sunset, was gone all too soon. Look at other reviews in-depth, and you'll see most of them rave about the location and a goodly number find the food wanting. I wish I'd read more reviews in depth beforehand. Behind the high dollar menu is a chef who needs to find a job in a diner. The Edgewood is more concerned with appearances than substance. Not surprisingly, the wait person said most guests are visitors, not local. Don't go unless you like paying premium prices for a view and mediocre food. It was an anniversary dinner we hope to forget. We will not be back.

Nestled in the alpine wonderland of the Sierra Nevada and flanked by Lake Tahoe’s mesmerizing shades of blue, Edgewood presents the most refined and spotless dinner experience in Lake Tahoe. Before you’re greeted by the hostess, you’re greeted by sweeping views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada, contested by the restaurant’s ambient lightning, floor to ceiling windows, and it’s peak-shaped ceilings. Don’t worry, the atmosphere is not the only amazing aspect about Edgewood so let’s talk food. We started with the Sea Scallops that were accompanied with Confit Potatoes, Squid Ink Tuile and Chili Creama. The blend of these flavors was exquisite, a perfect combination of flavors for the perfect appetizer. For the entree, I chose Elk loin. I’m a big fan of game meats and have them often, and with no reservations, this was certainly the tastiest piece of elk I’ve ever had. To finish off the evening, we had a strawberry shortcake rendition that is one of the most beautiful pieces of pastry you’ll ever see. Last but not least, the service was impeccable; Alison provided one of the best service experiences I’ve ever had at any restaurant. She looked after our every need and was spot on with her recommendations. If you’re in Tahoe, you cannot miss the exceptional views, service, and food that Edgewood will provide.

The property is beautiful and I went in expecting a great meal, but this was one of the worst high-end restaurant experiences I've had. I'm only giving two stars because there was a wedding happening that night at the property and I think it might have simply been an off night. However, for the price there just aren't any excuses for how poor the service was.

We booked for a group of 11 and checked in early to have a drink by the water and play some of the lawn games on the property, which was really nice (this review is for the restaurant, not the property). We went to the desk at the time of our reservation they told us it would be another 15 minutes even though the restaurant was half full. No big deal, we came back a bit later and were seated. Our waiter stopped by and took a drink order and informed us that we should order quickly because there is a large party that would be ordering soon and it would be a good idea to get an order in before them. We rushed to decide and ordered our drinks, appetizers and mains.

While waiting for our food, for some odd reason the shades were raised about 30 minutes before sunset, resulting in half the table being blinded by sun directly in their eyes. We asked the waiter if they could be put back down until the sun was behind the mountains and were told the shades were broken. We found the manager and asked for the shades to be lowered and after some annoyed looks, they managed to find the remote and lower the shades.

The appetizers came in about 15 minutes, and then we waited about another hour and a half for the mains to come, despite the rushed order. In the meantime, the picked over appetizers sat on the table and the waiter didn't stop by a single time to take another drink order or apologize for the delay. After 20 minutes of empty glasses all around, we finally grabbed the manager walking by and told him we hadn't seen our waiter for an hour. He acted very annoyed at us but eventually came by to take another drink order. I understand being busy if there was a large private party, but the waiters were mostly standing around and actively avoided us when we tried to get their attention. The manager was also very short with us and seemed very annoyed when all we were asking for was another bottle of wine.

As far as the food, for the appetizers the burrata was very good, mussels and flatbread were just ok. Four people ordered the lobster tagliatelle and they ate almost completely different dishes. One had no sauce or seasoning of any kind, one was extremely wet (essentially soup), and two were in between. The coq au vin (chicken) was dry and tasteless. The short rib was ok but underseasoned and one person's portion was 25% bigger than another person's. Long story short, for the price point the food was underwhelming.

When our waiter finally came by for the second time in 2 hours it was to drop off the check. To add insult to injury, they add a mandatory 20% service charge for large parties, which may explain the complete lack of effort the entire night. We really enjoyed the property and will be coming back for a drink, but needless to say we will not be visiting the restaurant next time. For $100+ a person, you can do much...

If I can give you 0 star, I want to give you 0 star. But the system does not let me. I hope a manager here sees this. The waiter who served our table gave us horrible attitude when we dined in, which ruined our ENGAGEMENT dinner where we even invited our friends. We are 4 Asians who sat at the outside table yesterday. He came to us and asked questions like where you are from and where we stayed. I really thought that he tried to be nice to us. Then, whole shenanigans happened. He didn't serve bread and butter that any other tables got. You delivered oysters which is just appetizer that needs to be served first and everything thing else all at the same time. The whole thing at the same time. Are we dining at Apple bee's now ? He didn't put cutlery. He threw at us. Then, when the card was declined because we are from New York, which he asked!!!!!!, he ANNOUNCED in front of everyone with his slur speech that our card was declined(which they should know ppl travel and out of state payment decline can happen) . I'm sure he was drunk. He slurred his speech so bad only thing I understood was something $40 something. Yes, he charged $40, which is the most ridiculous thing of this whole shenanagins. It's almost funny. 🤪He CHARGED $40 I guess to make sure ???? Does this waiter think we run away cuz we cant afford ??? He must have been drunk otherwise I could not comprehend this, other than alcohol blush in his body. Oh Just letting you know we all dressed up nicely from New York standard. This shenanigans didn't end here. I ordered a bottle of Riesling on the menu it says $38. On the bill, he upcharged us as $60. Now you are scamming us. Are these ppl serious ?? I want the discrepancy($22), the entire tip (my bf insisted to pay tip since he didn't want cause any scene since the waiter looked drunk ) back and your sincere apology. With this kind of service, you do not deserve no tip. The management should compensate the time and money I spent there. I wish I could go back time and tell you this in your face and your manger. You ruined our engagement dinner and the first impression about Lake Tahoe. You treated us this way because we are Asians who don't stay at your hotel ? I'm still furious about the experience and I'm so regretful that I didn't speak up only because I didn't want to cause awkward moments. Ppl travel and come here to for their important moments, which takes money, time, and effort. Thanks for ruining really important chapter of my life.

If you are Asians like me, don't risk it. They will try to measure you to see you deserve to be here hahaha. Go somewhere else you don't pay $500 to be the second class citizen. FYI, I dressed up very nice cuz it's my engagement dinner. That doesn't matter 🤪🤪 I fine dined myself in New York. I know what the service feels like and looks like....
