Where do I even begin? As a newly engaged couple, my fiancé and I were surprised and invited by family to stay here. The last day of our 2 night stay Friday January 5th I encountered an EXTREME case of (food poisoning) from The Bistro Edgewood located in the lobby area. My 9:45 breakfast order was *Everything Bagel & Lox (tomato, shaved red onion, dill, whipped cream cheese, lodge salad) Mind you, I had not eaten a meal for at least 12hrs prior due to babysitting with my wife to be, 4 children total of my sister's family and their friends the night before. As I have eaten the entire lox bagel, and most of the salad.. I'm starting to feel a sharp pressure in my stomach at the end of my meal, and since i've never had food poisoning in my life, I thought nothing of it. As my sister's family and we both separate from breakfast to our rooms at about 11am i'm telling my fiancé "I'm not feeling good." Again, maybe its cramps or something. 11:30 rolls around, and i'm on the toilet with a small trash can in front of me just fighting a monster in my stomach. The enormous amounts of pain from my back to my legs to my feet was excruciating. I'm literally praying as i'm releasing the food from my system. My fiancé is horrified at what is going on and immediately goes downstairs to the restaurant telling them what is happening. She spoke with the restaurant general manager and hostess and they were both kind and apologetic. She was offered ginger ale from the bartender at no charge. I received the ginger ale, and could barely drink it at first since my body was reacting horribly. Stripping my clothes, and feeling horrendous she takes one look at me and angrily leaves to go speak with the front desk. There she was met with someone from security who was there to fill out a (Security form). She was extremely dismissive, and accusatory. My fiancé was spoken to disrespectfully and in quote said ("Your girlfriend, wife, or whatever?" "What makes you think it was the food from here?" "Why didn't you eat in the last 12hrs?" "Are you sure she didn't drink too much?") As said above, we were watching children, and did not eat anything else but from The Bistro Edgewood. To my shock, my fiancé tells me how rudely and with attitude the woman security guard spoke to her and I couldn't wait to feel better to speak with her and the chef of the restaurant. Our checkout time was already pushed until 12pm and if it is later, it is a 100 dollar fee per hour. My fiancé told the front desk, "we will need more time since my wife is throwing up." The time was extended until 2pm. Thankfully. Graciously, Graciezelda (sp) one of the room maids helped and gave us 3 more trash bags, so that I could eventually clean myself up. She deserves a huge raise. I finally, after a little over an hour can get up, dress myself, brush my teeth, and clean the bathroom and trash cans in the shower so Graciezelda isn't completely horrified by the scene. I marched myself downstairs directly to the restaurant and asked to speak with a manager. She told me she was a manager there, I asked her for a manager of all of the managers, specifically the CHEF. She was kind and told me "he was in a meeting." I told her i'll sit and wait thank you. A kind server offered me a hot cup of water, and was very supportive. She also, deserves a raise. The hostess came over a half hour later to ask me all of the details of what id eaten, how i was feeling, and that she is training to be a veterinarian, and wanted to know more details of how my fluids appeared. She deserves a raise. Over an hour goes by, the head of the restaurant's manager meets with me and says she can get on the phone with the CHEF. He finally meets face to face with me. Honestly, the most dismissive CHEF i've ever met (I work in the catering and food service industry at a well known STUDIO in Burbank Ca.) He was very non comforting, and spoke over me multiple times, and then tells me "I tried the lox an hour and a half ago and i'm fine." You won't hear from us, but from security and they will look into this."...

I visited The Bistro Edgewood for the second time, but this time, it was for dinner. They had a golf tournament going on thsi week so getting a reservation was a bit hard. The hotel/restaurant was packed. I want to say this is the most beautiful hotel/property in the Tahoe area with amazing views of the lake, elegant interior, and a private and secluded beach.
We started our dinner with some drinks - Mai Tai and Himalayan Ruby. Mai Tai was fruity and tropical and well balanced. Himalayan Ruby included Ketel Grapefruit-Rose, Grapefruit Juice, Rosemary Syrup, Fresh Lemon, and Himalayan sea salt. It wasn't as strong as the Black Widow, and the overall flavor was mild.
For our mains, we got -
Pan Seared Verlasso Salmon - it came with Beluga lentils, shaved fennel salad, citrus caper beurre blanc. The sauce was the highlight of the dish. It was creamy and tangy. The fish was cooked well.
Pan Seared Striped Bass - It came with roasted pepper sauce, marble potatoes, tomatoes, snap peas, and watercress. It was the least flavorful dish of all the mains we got. The cook on the fish was fine, but the sauce was very bland.
Prime Filet Mignon - It came with a grilled 7oz Filet, seared exotic marble potato hash, mushroom & eggplant caviar, and bordelaise drizzle. It was delicious. The meat was juicy and tender and cooked as requested.
Overall, this restaurant is definitely a must visit if you are in the South Lake Tahoe area. Food, service, ambiance, views - everything about this place is amazing.
First visit-
Bistro Edgewood, nestled within the luxurious Edgewood Tahoe Resort, offers a stunning dining experience with a few shortcomings. The location is unbeatable – picture gazing out at Lake Tahoe and the snow-capped mountains while enjoying a delicious meal. The upscale, chic, and modern interior bathes in sunlight, creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere that elevates your entire dining experience.
The service at Bistro Edgewood is top-notch. The staff is attentive and friendly, and their professional demeanor reflects the high-end nature of the restaurant. Something to keep in mind is that valet parking is the only option; just pull up to the main entrance (porte-cochère), and the staff will take care of your car. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, with the option of enjoying the beautiful scenery on the heated outdoor patio.
For my visit for morning breakfast, I opted for an iced chai, which wasn't listed on the menu. While I was initially apprehensive, I was pleasantly surprised by its quality. It delivered a good amount of chai flavor. However, the experience wasn't entirely flawless. My eggs Benedict came with undercooked and starchy potatoes, a bit of a letdown. On the other hand, the hollandaise sauce was a star – smooth, rich, buttery, and perfectly balanced with a touch of tanginess. The bread, however, proved a bit difficult to cut through.
Overall, Bistro Edgewood offers a beautiful setting, excellent service, and generally good food. However, a few minor stumbles with the sides and bread keep it from a perfect five stars. Still, it's a great choice for a special occasion or a luxurious dining experience in...
Read moreIf I can give you 0 star, I want to give you 0 star. But the system does not let me. I hope a manager here sees this. The waiter who served our table gave us horrible attitude when we dined in, which ruined our ENGAGEMENT dinner where we even invited our friends. We are 4 Asians who sat at the outside table yesterday. He came to us and asked questions like where you are from and where we stayed. I really thought that he tried to be nice to us. Then, whole shenanigans happened. He didn't serve bread and butter that any other tables got. You delivered oysters which is just appetizer that needs to be served first and everything thing else all at the same time. The whole thing at the same time. Are we dining at Apple bee's now ? He didn't put cutlery. He threw at us. Then, when the card was declined because we are from New York, which he asked!!!!!!, he ANNOUNCED in front of everyone with his slur speech that our card was declined(which they should know ppl travel and out of state payment decline can happen) . I'm sure he was drunk. He slurred his speech so bad only thing I understood was something $40 something. Yes, he charged $40, which is the most ridiculous thing of this whole shenanagins. It's almost funny. 🤪He CHARGED $40 I guess to make sure ???? Does this waiter think we run away cuz we cant afford ??? He must have been drunk otherwise I could not comprehend this, other than alcohol blush in his body. Oh Just letting you know we all dressed up nicely from New York standard. This shenanigans didn't end here. I ordered a bottle of Riesling on the menu it says $38. On the bill, he upcharged us as $60. Now you are scamming us. Are these ppl serious ?? I want the discrepancy($22), the entire tip (my bf insisted to pay tip since he didn't want cause any scene since the waiter looked drunk ) back and your sincere apology. With this kind of service, you do not deserve no tip. The management should compensate the time and money I spent there. I wish I could go back time and tell you this in your face and your manger. You ruined our engagement dinner and the first impression about Lake Tahoe. You treated us this way because we are Asians who don't stay at your hotel ? I'm still furious about the experience and I'm so regretful that I didn't speak up only because I didn't want to cause awkward moments. Ppl travel and come here to for their important moments, which takes money, time, and effort. Thanks for ruining really important chapter of my life.
If you are Asians like me, don't risk it. They will try to measure you to see you deserve to be here hahaha. Go somewhere else you don't pay $500 to be the second class citizen. FYI, I dressed up very nice cuz it's my engagement dinner. That doesn't matter 🤪🤪 I fine dined myself in New York. I know what the service feels like and looks like....
