I would not recommend this place to anyone traveling out of state. We arrived at around 2am for check in because we had a late flight from Reno. The check in was easy at first and we headed to our room. The first room was dirty and had clearly not been cleaned by housekeeping. The beds weren’t made and the trash was full. Clearly just forgot to be cleaned. No problem. Our group lugged our bags back down across the street and explained the situation to the front office. He gave us another room. Perfect, no big deal. Again going back across the street and up to the 3rd floor. Second room was dirty with tip money out for house keeping. Once again we go back down to the front office and the man tells us that he will be back and just walks away. 20 minutes goes by of us just standing in the lobby. It’s about 3am by this point.
He tells us that the owner owns a separate hotel off site, so we walk 5 minutes to a back hotel. It’s dark out and we are just following this random man to an undisclosed location. During our walk, he questioned us about the rooms saying “So how were they dirty?” Sir, please go look at them yourself because clearly someone had checked out and the room was untouched. TWICE. Then, he tells us we can’t actually stay in the room and we have to move sometime tomorrow morning, but doesn’t give us a set time. Just says a housekeeper will be in around 10 but doesn’t know when it will be done. Through all of this, the worker does not say sorry one time or apologize for ANY inconvenience. He also says that this happened LAST WEEK. Great to know.
The next day, we head down to the front office. A separate manager, a woman, explains that she basically has no idea about what happened the night before but gives us a new room. She also says that the housekeeper will be in big trouble. We don’t want to see or hear people getting in trouble, we just want a room. It’s unprofessional. Again, this manager also does not apologize for anything. We ask about getting a discount for the disgusting rooms and having to switch rooms and we are told we can come BACK later at 3. We are wasting our vacation time just going in circles with managers.
We come back at 3 to speak with ANOTHER different manager. Again, does not say sorry for anything. She says they can’t give us a free night or an upgrade to a nicer room. We are told that we will be given an undisclosed discount because technically they did give us a room. Also, that the discount would be applied after we were gone and checked out. Convenient. The discount was a WHOPPING $20. Please keep the $20 after paying $200 a night for a room with terrible customer service. Any other hotel in the world is giving a free night or upgrading you into a nicer room.
Trust me, the free breakfast is not worth it. It is overcrowded and cheap. You are better off going to a grocery store and buying a pack of bagels and bananas yourself.
Overall, the management is extremely unorganized and unprofessional, the rooms are DIRTY, and the free breakfast truly was not worth it in the end. I would advise anyone not to stay here because it was...
Read moreThe hotel has great potential but is not realized.
The hotel is located in several buildings on both sides of the road, a bit problematic when the entire road is covered with ice and you have to go to the reception/room and sometimes with luggage.
Regarding the reception, the reception staff were nice overall, it was a bit difficult to get information about the attractions in the area, what's more, some of the brochures available at the reception are not updated for the winter season.
The breakfast is very good, the dining room is clean and calm in the early morning hours, in the late hours the dining room is full and it is difficult to manage there due to the fact that there are many people in a narrow and crowded place.
Regarding the rooms, the room was reasonably clean but needed improvement, dirt in the sink and hairs on the bed even after the sheets were changed at our request.
The bathroom curtain was too low and did not match the height of the bathtub, giving an unpleasant feeling during the shower.
Also regarding the room, one of the lamps did not work and the heating did not warm up that much, so we asked the hotel staff to come and fix these problems, and indeed the bulb was replaced but the air conditioner still did not heat up properly.
I would add that in order for the room to be cleaned, you have to ask the reception. We found out that issue after we got to the room in the afternoon and the room was not tidy, this is indicated on a very small note placed in the room... I would have expected them to say this during check-in so that we could prepare.
The refrigerator does not include a freezer, but there is a kitchen for hotel guests to use, the smell there was not good (to say the least).
More about the residential building, we were on the second floor and the lift did not work... It is not pleasant to spend the night on a high floor and carry all the luggage up the stairs.
The hotel has an outdoor jacuzzi which absolutely needs to be renovated in my humble opinion, broken tiles that cause an unpleasant feeling. More about the jacuzzi, there are no towels in the room that are intended for the jacuzzi and as I already said, there is no organized room service...
The hotel could easily be rated higher but the things I mentioned above completely detracted from the experience and we were very...
Read moreWe stayed here during Memorial day weekend. I looked online and saw that they had a two room suite which was very reasonable. We arrived early and were able to check in, which was great because we had gone on a long hike and needed showers! We were very happy when we saw the suite, it was so spacious! It had two bedrooms, a bathroom, living room with pullout couch and spacious kitchen. The beds were comfortable and we also tried out the pull out couch and it was comfortable as well. The room was clean and well kept. It was not "fancy" or brand new but it was well kept and it exceeded my expectations. I was concerned it would be extremely outdated or not well kept because of the reasonable price, especially because I had done some online hotel shopping to find the best deal I could. Above us must of been another suite, and they had a large patio. I thought the patio was really cool and want to request that room next time. The upstairs guests were out bbq'ing but when we went out around 9 they were already quiet. The breakfast was good, I went a little late but saw someone refilling what was out of stock so while I had to wait a few minutes, I still got my eggs and waffle! The hotel itself was on stateline, two or three blocks from the lake and 3 blocks from Harveys. It was great! Everything we wanted to participate in was within walking distance. The hotel was actually two buildings, across the street from where the office is is a second building which looks slightly newer and is an enclosed building verses the outside facing door "motel" style that we stayed in. They had a nice little pool and spa in the newer building which was well kept. When I checked out I chatted with the front desk and discovered that it was the owner who was checking me out. He was very nice and we chatted about the area. Over all we were very happy with our stay and will absolutely be back. Tahoe is a beautiful place and we had...
