When I was younger my family would eat at the Canton in Coral Gables often. Now that I'm older I pick up Chinese from this location for my family often. I have tried many Chinese restaurants from New York to Miami and always end up comparing to Canton whether I want to or not. I get the feeling they know Chinese food is easy and restaurants are abundant so they make sure they have consistently good flavor and ingredients. I usually take out. I have eaten inside a few times and what I can say is that the inside is quaint and quiet but I've never known the service to be bad. Many locals will swing by and eat outside.
The small details in the food is what keeps me coming back. i.e. the slices of red cooked pork in the wonton soup, the generous portions in their dishes, down to the size of the rice grain in their fried rice. I was working late, look at the internet for the hours it close on Thursday and it said closes @ 12 A.M. it was 10:30 pm. I got there @ 10:40 pm and they had a paper sign saying they close at 11:00 pm I just wanted a special fried rice and wonton soup to go. I said ok went next door to pine crest bakery and order. Went I came out the door was open and there was a customer that order online picking his food. I went in and saw Harry telling customer that it was going to take a while cause they were making his soup. I told Harry what I wanted and he said next time. So I walk out. I think they could have done that simple order within minutes. While cooking for the other customer. I see they don’t value the customers. So for that reason they lost an...
