I was very impressed with the cuisine and service.
Cafe Pastis is a small restaurant easily not seen between the bourgeois franchise retail stores. But this in now way takes away from how special a place this is.
The servers are very nice, with high motor. They are both professional and make for a comfortable environment. Both Lucas and esther attended my self and my fiancee during our stay and I was very impressed. Esther is very gentle kind with a memorized knowledge of the foods available. Lucas is highly attentive and focused. With good hands might I add.
The owner is very hands on which is nice to see in this day and age.
On cuisine, the spinach soup is very fine. Not too creamy or over spiced. Neither too watery or plain. Very palatable and very satisfying. The food comes out quick without delay.
The salad came with goat cheese with a hint of honey. The mix of honey and goat cheese on a baguette was an impressive mix that I have yet experienced the combination the greens were nicely glazed with house dressing. Wasn't too heavy made it very enjoyable.
En fin, we had an upside down apple tart which went very well with the cappuccino.
Atmosphere, very quaint, very intimate. The kitchen is open ended allowing for all the aromas from the dishes being prepared to fill the air and also allows for all the French banter to be in full witness which might I add is very entertaining.
Was very happy with our experience. We will definitely...
Read moreThe food is delicious, but "caveat emptor"--Buyer Beware! My wife and I have eaten here three times. We love the casual, French bistro ambiance and the wait staff are attentive and friendly. The menu is varied and we've never been disappointed with a dish. All good, so far. However, the second time we ate here, I noticed the bill seemed higher than expected. When I looked closer, I found that we had been charged about $30 extra, because an extra dish had been added to the bill. When I pointed this out, the wait staff promptly fixed it. I figured it was an accident. Recently, we had dinner and I noticed the same high bill again. When I examined the check (they're handwritten and a challenge to decipher) I discovered we had been charged for two extra glasses of wine. The manager/owner passed by and I pointed out the discrepancy. He checked with the waiter, apologized, canceled the first credit card charge, and rang us up again. BUT--the new bill still did not add up mathematically. The waiter--a very friendly guy--compared it to the menu. The subtotal numbers were correct, but the total was $9 over what the food and tax should have been. Less than our original overcharge, but still wrong. Coincidence? It's either sloppy accounting or a way to overcharge customers who don't pay attention or don't want to dispute an extra charge of $25 or $30. We are disillusioned with Café Pastis and will not...
Read moreI had wanted to go to Cafe Pastis for a while but most of the times we went by it was crowded which seemed a great sign. My wife and I decided to make a reservation to be sure to get a table,we arrived a 7:45 PM. The waitress sat us at the table right next to the entrance and the silverware station fortunately the table next to us was empty and we proceeded to change. The water right away arrived as well as our server,he told us the special ,took our drinks and came back to take the order. The special appetizer sounded great goat cheese souffle with prosciutto and arugula salad,i ordered it .When the souffle arrived,it was a puff pastry casing and a goat cheese melted inside not the souffle i was expecting and that should of been, well i ate it and didn't call anyone's attention. The rest of the meal was the same, old fashion heavy and overcooked.I don't know what to think about the other diner that goes there regularly but maybe i expected too much for 130 Dollars,I will never go...
