im peruvian. lets start with that. review is based on the five times ive been to this place and family members and friends feedback. all peruvians too. cons: disorganized staff specially when busy, might take some time for a server to come to your table and/or food (it's a pattern). the first thing peruvians do when they go to a new peruvian restaurant is try out their ceviche. if their ceviche is good, that's a good sign. unfortunately, their ceviche needs a lot of work. do not come to this place for ceviche, nor to pisco & nazca (only go to this place for pisco, never to eat their food), nor dr. limon. instead, go to taipa restaurant (kendall), divino ceviche (doral) or la mar (brickell). its the closest you'll ever get at experiencing how ceviche in peru tastes like and still you're nowhere near. on a side note, if you're in brickell, go to pollos y jarras and try their rotisserie chicken (pollo a la brasa) and try nothing else but this. *when you order ceviche always get corvina fish, eat it with a spoon, don't order it with maracuya, pisco or any of these silly experiments and please stop eating ceviche at night (its fish!) pros: nice place. friendly staff, looks clean (kitchen?), fair prices. aji de gallina (only had it once). delicious. hands down best in miami. no doubt. my favorite peruvian dish since childhood. typically a home made dish only made by your mom or grandma. tough to beat. way better than machu picchu restaurant and la perla's (kendall) both lomo saltado and lomo saltado with pasta huancaina, delicious. rivals the lomo saltado from taipa restaurant and huancaina sauce from aromas del peru (kendall) chicha morada or jugo de maracuya (passion fruit juice)? meh its alright. go to ranchito mi peru 2 (downtown) or el tambo grill for this (here, try their chupe de camarones/soup with shrimps). puplo al olivo and picarones, good.
finally and freebie, if you wanna try the best sushi-ceviche in miami go to sokai (the falls). if you wanna try the best pan con chicharron go to l'arte bianco bakery only on sundays (kendall) way better than mr & mrs bun (kendall) and if you wanna try tallarines verdes with lomo saltado go to la bodega (yea i know). follow this and you will be rewarded with that dopamine hit.

Read moreI liked my first experience at this restaurant. I visited on a Monday afternoon, and it was pretty empty. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating areas; I chose to sit outside. What I liked right away was the lack of music. Plus, the restaurant is located a block away from the busy road, at the corner of two small residential streets, so it was pretty quiet and peaceful outside. The restaurant menu is quite large and offers a variety of food, from many different appetizers to grilled fish and meat options. As expected, the menu is mostly seafood-focused. My friend and I were moderately hungry, so we decided to order and share three dishes: Yuca Sticks, Gyozas, and The Experience Lover Ceviche (which is a mix of fish, calamari, shrimp, and octopus). All the food came out pretty quickly, about 12 minutes after we ordered, and everything was very fresh and delicious. I have absolutely nothing negative to mention about the food quality. Great job! I definitely recommend trying these three dishes. Price-wise, I would say that the food is slightly overpriced, especially the starters, which are all priced from $12 and up, even the Gyozas, which usually cost around $8. There were two Happy Hour meals for $10 each, if I remember correctly – crispy calamari and beef empanadas. But I consider that a bit of a joke. There were also Happy Hour deals on some alcoholic drinks, but since my friend and I don't drink alcohol, we didn't explore those offers. For our lunch, we paid $54 in total (without tip), and as I mentioned before, I find it slightly overpriced. Only one waiter was working outside, and he was just okay. I wish he had a friendlier attitude because he didn't even smile once. The last issue I want to mention was the problem with getting change, as the waiter had no change for $100. We eventually figured it out, but it's still strange that a big and pretty famous restaurant like CEVICHE LOVERS wouldn't have cash on hand. In conclusion, I absolutely recommend this place for a visit. I believe I will be back again to try some other items...
