Handel's Homemade Ice Cream Riverdale — Restaurant in South Ogden

Handel’s. Heaven. Home. When I was a wee lass my grandpop would walk me down to the parlor with him to enjoy a scoop of ice cream. These memories live on even though my grandpop does not. Ever since his passing I haven’t been the same. When I walked into an ice cream parlor a feeling of hurt and dread used to engulf my heart. It wasn’t the same without grandpop. But when I walked into Handel’s everything changed. The friendly staff greeted and welcomed me making me feel as warm and fuzzy as the sweater I knitted for my grandson. A young girl named marlee especially touched my heart. If she is looking for a husband in the next few years my grandsons are always available. When I had a taste of the strawberry cheesecake ice cream my heart soared. I could feel the spirit of my grandpop smiling down on me from heaven on high. Glory hallelujah! This place has a lot of hype but not worth it. I should have driven to Grandy for atmosphere or Farrs or Bowtie for flavor…we walked in an hour before closing it was empty but the workers were all very engaged with cleaning some shiny surface you could almost feel their disappointment as we walked in the door and they realized they would have to serve another customer or alas clean up again…it’s almost as if cleaning up is going to drive this empty new chain more business. Samples? Suggestions? Have you ever been to Handels (I have). But worst of all the ice cream tasted like it had thawed and was frozen again. It probably was. It was grainy. There is nothing worse than grainy ice cream. I really wish we would’ve gone to the supermarket to buy a gallon of Neapolitan. You know it’s bad when the garbage can is full of ice cream unfinished. The cone was OK it tasted like all sugar...

HANDELS IS MY NEW GO-TO! I’d like to say my experience at Handels started out very disappointing for my first visit. That turned around real quick! After a quick message to the store directly about my concern I was contacted by a phone call within 24 hours from the General Manager, Stephanie AND the Franchise owner, Zach.

I am absolutely taken and so pleased with how this location took my issues and concerns. They talked to me on the phone, texted me and took VERY good care of me for my next couple of visits there. They truly have top tier customer service and care about every single customer that walks in those doors.

Manager Stephanie was so incredible and understanding to work with directly and is making sure her staff is fully trained on “the Handels way”.

I will 100% be back to Handels for their incredible ice cream, variety of flavors, and...
