In-N-Out Burger — Restaurant in Riverdale

I really really want to like this food but I just can't!!

Looks are really deceiving here!!

Let me clarify here, the beef patty was cooked properly and tasted really good, that's about the best I can do as far as trying to find "the good" in things.

Everything else was abismal, the bun was rock solid on the edges (so much so that I had to take the bottom bun off and eat the burger without it), the beef patties were WAY too small for the size buns they use (meat to bun ratio was horrible), lettuce was green, fresh, and crunchy but piled an inch high within a 2 inch area in the center of the burger (no care to spread it around), same issue with the caramelized onions.

The fries: I saw them in the background putting whole, well peeled, fresh looking potatoes in the press that cuts them into fries, so I had high hopes for the fries from the start, WRONG!!!! (They somehow managed to screw that up too).

I really don't think they served me old/stale fries, here's what I think is doing them in.....

I ordered my fries "Animal Style", which means they add cheese, spread (their version of "Mac Sauce"), and the caramelized onions to the fries.

The problem is that they use the same sliced American cheese that they use on the burgers, the cheese is fresh, thick, and great tasting, (exactly what you'd want in your burger). The only problem is that it won't melt over the fries by itself, for that they have to put it in a special machine (it's definitely NOT a microwave or else the fries would get soggy), I can only assume it's an "express air fryer" because it REALLY dries the fries out in order to melt the cheese over them. They could solve this problem by switching to a cheese sauce of some kind.

In conclusion, I think this restaurant has really good potential but the careless kids that are entrusted to professionally run it are the ones who are bringing this establishment down.

Let the kids work but at the very least employ 1 adult to manage/supervise their activities.

Was casually enjoying my Pink Lemonade until I felt something out of place in my mouth and spit it out to find this small VERY sharp piece of plastic. Assumed maybe a piece of plastic near the straw had simply broken off and fell in(which wouldn’t have been a big deal and I wouldn’t have bothered to leave this review)but as you can see the four folds were still perfectly in tact which tells me that little piece of plastic was inside their pink lemonade dispenser itself. I also noticed looking in the drive through window that one of the pink lemonade dispensers looked incredibly dirty and had a decent amount of build up on it. This leads me to wonder 1. How often are they cleaning these dispensers and 2. Are they even cleaning the dispensers properly? I was even feeling a bit nauseous prior to finding the piece of plastic but wasn’t sure why, now I’m wondering if it was the pink lemonade I already drank over half of that caused me to feel ill. Very unfortunate because their pink lemonade is usually my favorite. I’m just glad I realized the piece of plastic before swallowing it and likely hurting my throat due to how sharp it is. As a food service worker myself I can’t believe they’re this careless about keeping things clean and sanitary for their customers. Food was okay but this definitely ruined any chance I have of returning to this particular location.

EDIT: immediately after writing this review out of curiosity I decided to dump the remainder of my pink lemonade into a glass to see if there was anything else in my drink and found what appears to be a piece of a wrapper of some sort? I’m beyond disgusted. Why in the WORLD are there so many unsanitary hazards in your drink dispensers? Health code violation...

All I ordered tonight was an animal style burger to go. What I was not anticipating, was the most polite and energetic front counter service I have ever received at In-n-Out, let alone, any fast food establishment. Hailey, working the front counter, greeted me, like everyone else, with a smile so inviting, that it could warm up anyone's coldest day. She asked me how my day was, and was able to multitask at the same time executing my order perfectly. I was so overwhelmed by this act of professionalism, I took the time to write Hailey a poem about my visit, souly inspired by her act of kindness. I presented this to her, before I left the place, and she was taken back for a second, and told me it really made her day! Hailey, you made my day too! So here's this poem again on this review and I hope it finds you and touches the hearts of anyone else that works at In-n-Out, or anywhere, and needs to feel appreciated for all that you do!
