Dolce Roma — Restaurant in South Padre Island

After an afternoon at the beach, we thought we'd give them a try and have a waffle cone. We were the only people in the store, walked up to the counter, and the glass in the gelato cases was fogged uo so you had to lean over to see the flavours. The lights in the case were off and the woman, without saying hello, turned on the lights and said can I help you. We obviously hadn't chosen a flavor yet since the lights were off and the window was fogged up. She repeated herself impatiently so we hurried up to order two waffle cones, and were snippily told they were out of all the dipped and sprinkled cones. This apparently should have been obvious since she put a napkin over them in the display case. We got regular waffle cones, paid our $10.83 and went to sit down. The woman didn't thank us or wish us a nice day. The gelato was full of ice crystals and instead of the normally super smooth and creamy texture, the gelato was gritty, and the waffle cone was stale. Obviously it isn't fresh. If the woman at the counter had been even remotely polite, we might have said something, but she was so rude, we decided to just cut our losses and go to Dairy Queen where we paid $2 less and got great service. Very disappointing from the moment we walked...

Let me just say when you visit a location there is a proper way to greet your guest and pass on information. If you step into this location don't expect that!! Small girl with glasses is ensuring the public who visits needs to wear a mask in a loud tone. No "Hi or Hello or Welcome" to our "you don't need to buy Gelato here. " Yeap 6 guest and 6 guest that just walked through....add it up and save you money. Then it's connected to a souvenir shop which mask were off and guess what same rude employee there too!! But nothing else was said but the darted eyes said enough. What got me was the iron on they offer and what is above the entry that goes back into the Gelato location. What was there name who cares when you have that bad apple there!! Back to the iron ons...freedom, American flag and the sense of not know what any of that stands for because you have no clue. I do, Governors Order was lifted and we yet seem to recognize our freedoms just for living in this Great Country!! So far best ice cream shop on the island. I would have given them five stars, but I had to hold back because they didn't have lavender flavored one. I am hooked and addicted to lavender ice cream. So not they need to make a lavender gelato flavored one. Dolce Roma has a Very Good selection, my family and friends wanted to try them all we could have if we came multiple times, but we found out about them at the last day. If you our a tourist Definitely you need to add this to your places to get some good Gelato.
