Josephine’s Kitchen — Restaurant in South Padre Island

Let me preface by saying Josephines is our GO TO for breakfast/brunch when staying at the Island. That being said this was our first time eating there during the off season - so we didn't know what to expect. As per our previous experiences we were NOT disappointed. In fact being able to get in and eat without a wait (which a 30min plus wait time is expected during peak season) just added to a Great experience. My husband and I both ordered the Fancy Coffee to drink (his caramel and mine French vanilla-see picture). There coffee is tasty and goes down smooth. For our entrees - i ordered the barbacoa Benedict (see picture). This was a new item for me (I like to try a new dish each time). It didn't fail. The barbacoa was cooked and flavored perfectly. The hollandaise sauce paired with the green salsa and queso fresco made for an excellent combination. My tastebuds bursting with such an amazing combination of flavors. My husband ordered the Josephine Sampler. To quote him "it never fails (this is his go to). Portions were spot on and the taste was was like a home cooked meal. Very "comforting" see picture. Our waitress Brenda was very delightful and informative. She made sure to tell us about the off menu items and provided us with her personal favorites (reason why I went with my selection). Being that we came during off season the atmosphere was GREAT- No wait and not crowded so we didn't feel pressured to eat and leave so the next table could sit down. We were able to enjoy a great meal and talk without feeling rushed. I definitely recommend this place - during off season and peak season. During peak season it's definitely worth the wait and being able to enjoy it during the off season without the wait is definitely...

If there was 6..or 7 stars...to give...this would be the place. The very thing i would tell absolutely all Restaurant owners is that if you want people stomping at your door for breakfast...IT WOULD ALL START WITH GOOD COFFEE...!!! And yes...the coffee was amazing!!... This place amazed me since my driving into the parking lot ..there was a wait...and i knew i was gonna wait ..cause "where's there's smoke..there must be fire ".... I run stag many a times..so i looked at the bar area..and asked if i could enjoy my breakfast there..they said..ABSOLUTELY.. I saw plates of food being brought out by servers from the kitchen area..and I KNEW I HAD MADE THE RIGHT DECISION...FOOD SERVED LOOKED AAAMMAZZING!!. I looked over the menu and the prices were just...WOOOWWW...prices were lower than what i would expect to pay for..for this quality of food and service... Waitress was prompt..knowledgeable and helpful..The right or wrong attitude of your wait staff can MAKE..OR BREAK A PLACE... I ordered an omelet stuffed with chorizo..potatoes..and sautéed onions..IT DIDN'T DISSAPOINT!! The fluffiness and quality of every ingredient was mesmerizing... This place only used TOP ingredients on every single menu item served...You could say...i see everything..I WAS IMPRESSED.. I can sincerely say...living here in this area and not knowing about this GEM of a place in South Padre Island..is a SIN.. This will be my absolute only place to have breakfast and lunch when i visit the Island..PERIOD!! Here are some pictures of food i ate..and food brought out of kitchen i had a glimpse...

Waiter admitted he abandoned our table when he was being food out because another customer was angry while asking him “is there someone else who can take our order?” As he was bringing out our food. He forgot my plate and never checked back with us to see if anything was missing. Another waitress asked if someone was missing because she realized I was looking towards the kitchen. Our waiter then came back and asked what was missing and upon looking into it admitted it was there waiting to come out but had then got cold so of course I asked him to cancel because by then everyone was finishing their food. Another waitress tried to say that the egg was just missing but it was ready so I wouldn’t cancel but it was already confirmed that was not the case. I don’t appreciate them trying to pass that on me when they just forgot to serve me. When he saw my mother in law was taking the tab he said “see you should’ve got the steak tips and eggs” but no I shouldn’t have because why would I have her pay for a meal that was forgotten in the first place? And why would he abandon us because of someone who was angry just to forget my food and leave me unplaced and never wanting to go back because apparently me being polite and patient was not...
