My friend and I went to silver saddle yesterday for her birthday April 25th we were amazed at the price of the menu our usual sirloin steak I gone up about $10 which I think is a little ridiculous but anyway we ordered baked potato steak and salad we had to wait at our table for a plate for salad it's like they didn't trust people which I understand we waited for our steak for a while finally came got steak baked potato with beans on the side I noticed my baked potato was not what I expected from before had very little green onions on it very little sour cream and hardly any cheese. My friend got hers same thing her baked potato was not cook all the way. I asked the waitress for steak sauce and some Tabasco sauce we notice steak sauce was really watered down at the Tabasco sauce didn't look like Tabasco sauce it was a strange off red color in an old reused bottle. My steak had a lot of fat and gristle makes it tougher to chew not good quality meat the whole meal was really I mean ridiculous I wasn't very satisfied I ate steak and potato I was not satisfied at all everything bland no seasoning on the meat couldn't even find the cheese on the potato, my friend couldn't eat her food she was really upset, so I called the waitress over and told her what the problem was she apologized I said this is substandard food it's like you guys are trying to say pennies when you add water or whatever to the sauces to save a penny it's ridiculous so she went over and talked to the manager I only got charged for my meal cuz I was stupid enough to eat it so instead of over $72 for my dinner I paid $40. It's pretty sad what this restaurants are doing that's why a lot are closing down going out of business cuz they're screwing the customers and people don't want to go back. I'm not they just lost a loyal customer. I hope this review helps someone unless you get people that enjoy McDonald's and think their food is great that will go to the restaurant and say the food is delicious sorry I'm not like that I know good food and that was not...
Read moreOk I’m going to rate this place with the Tucson curve lol. As far as Tucson steak houses are concerned in order to really enjoy a restaurant like this you need to know what and how to order. I have found that native Tucsonans in general have a very sensitive but flat palette, and the silver saddle really caters to the native Tucsonans. That being said all of their steaks typically come without any seasoning unless you know to ask for it. So a lot of the negative reviews you see on here are folks that just don’t understand Tucson. Honestly though who does? Lol
Let’s get to the meat and potatoes… this place is no nonsense. They know how to cook a steak. That big beautiful Santa Maria style mesquite flame grille in the center of the dining room isn’t there just for looks folks. I love the charm this place has to offer. It’s not unheard of to speak to a server that’s been there for more than 20 years. The people that work there love to work there and it low key shows. Most cuts of meat are obviously not prime but they are still very tender very juicy and perfectly cooked. Not everyone can make a steak delicious without seasoning and fancy sauces and trust me I’m about the seasoning and the sauces, but this isn’t Flemings. Their salad bar is very fresh and takes care of the basics. Their dressings taste like their made in house and their plates are usually chilled. If you like medium rare to rare ask your server to cut the steak extra thick you’ll thank me later and they will accommodate.
Nothing beats this place’s charm and smells. The menu is humble just like the staff and I hope they...
Read moreI had not been here in years, and am so glad we decided to stop in for a steak. It is truly a Tucson gem and clear why it has stood the test of time the last few decades. The sign, outside and something about the decor inside reminds me of 70's/80's type retro... not sure why since the inside is deep wood tones with a solid steakhouse feel.
Anyway, three things are important to the Hubs and me -- cleanliness, service, and food. Silver Saddle did a great job on all three counts. The place was clean and well kept up, the hostess friendly. Our server was engaging and checked on us often from start to finish. The food was fantastic (and the prices incredibly reasonable). We ordered a fried shrimp starter; top sirloin and NY strip plus fully loaded baked potatoes and their housemade Mud Pie for dessert. We got one trip to the salad bar -- salad bar was clean and had mixed greens (vs. iceberg which was a HUGE win in my book) and plenty of other toppings. The steaks and ranch beans are cooked right there in the dining room on the mesquite grill. Our steaks were cooked to perfection with really great flavor. The loaded potato was really good as well.
I gotta tell you my favorite part of the meal was their Mud Pie... there is nothing that I can say about it that would be meaningful to you unless you get in there and try it. It...
