Average. When seated for a party of 4, two of our chairs were dirty with stickiness and chip pieces. The complimentary chips and salsa were ok; one was spicy and one mild. The spicy salsa was actually spicy; I liked that. The chips kind on the stale. The service by the server was mid. For our party of four, only two people were given menus. We requested additional menus and were then given. The server did arrive promptly with waters with lemon when initially seated. The waiter never introduced herself by name therefore making it hard to get her attention. She retreated to the work station leaving our table to have to awkwardly wave here down. We order a pitcher of margarita and it served 8 drinks total. However it was a watery, diluted, excessive ice, and sadly only a slight taste of tequila. Not too big of an issue though because she brought a full pitcher and 4 glasses already filled with margaritas; a great bonus. The food arrived in 12 mins. The flavor was average. I was not tasting the seasonings that makes you a lover to Mexican food. I had a machacca burro with enchilada sauce and other had green Chile enchiladas. All four guest felt the same about the lack of pizzaz in food flavor.

It’s sad because the place used to be very popular and so delicious 25 years ago. The prices have increased per post plandemic as expected but the quality and service has declined. I would like to give this place another chance however, I’d feel sad to be...

Went here for a friend's retirement party and the service was unfriendly and terrible. Out of the dozen people that were there for the party, four of them ordered the soups (Chicken with Rice or the Cheese Soup) and all of their soups were ice cold when served. Makes you wonder if they were made fresh daily or not. The server did try to correct the problem (but without acknowledging there was a problem or saying sorry) by asking to reheat or provide new soups for those who ordered. The one who did ask for a new soup received cold soup for the second time.

The only reason I'm giving this two stars is my beef tamales were good, but not $10 at lunch, good. I think if the service was a little more friendly and inviting instead of demanding and seemingly upset at us for showing up, the experience would have been different because no one minds spending a little more for food if it's delicious (and hot) and if the service is outstanding. Sadly we never saw anyone after we received our checks for soda refills...which for $2.50 for a soda I would hope we could have received another refill. I just hope it was an off day for the server but if this behavior is persistent that maybe management could help this lady be more successful in a different position where she doesn't have to deal with the public, especially serving a party for someone's...

We came to Tucson for a case referred to us, and when we left the courthouse, we were invited to this restaurant. I had already planned to go to Denny’s, but the people we met invited us to this restaurant. (if servers don’t like their jobs, they should change jobs). They got upset when my friend asked for more chocolate, and I asked for more coffee. We asked for those drinks to be put on another ticket, because the person who invited us took the ticket to pay, a friend of his came later and ordered, so they gave us two tickets, but the one who invited us took them to pay. That’s why we asked for another ticket. These women were upset; they said there were too many tickets and got upset because we asked for more. My friend asked for more chocolate, and I asked for dessert, and they rudely told me that there was no flan left. I asked for more coffee, and they got upset; these two waitresses were very rude and bad-tempered. I didn't give them the $30 that we were going to leave as a tip because I wasn't going to pay for them to maltreat us. These women need customer service classes. They should leave their problems at home, and if they don't like their job, they should change it. As for the food, I give them a *. It's Mexican-American food, and it has no flavor. We hope to find a better restaurant when we...

At 1st glance of the menu I thought this was another Tex/Mex place. As it turns out all the dishes are the recipes of the original founders of the restaurant who are the great grandparents of the manager. The menu is possibly a good insight into the food of Tucson at the time of the Gadsen Purchase. Many burritos and combination plates available. The salsa is perfect. Great flavor with the right amount of chilies. The Albondigas soup has a great broth and the meatballs are outstanding. Comes with lemons, a giant sobaquera flour tortilla, and a jar of homemade dried chili piquin of the Sonoran desert. Only a little will suffice. Too much of this can be challenging. Great service. Great Mexican music on stereo to entertain. Family from Tucson

Came by myself at off-peak hours on a Saturday. I took a seat, and chips and salsa were brought out. I've been consuming got food for a while, so I was expecting a very mild salsa, but this one had a bit of a bite to it. I am pleasey with it. I ordered Two Machaca (shredded beef) enchiladas, rice and beans, and it was bright out in less than 5min. Nice! I imagine that if I came with a group at a busier hour, it would have taken much longer, but I am still pleased with the speed. And the food too. Good chips, enchiladas, enchilada sauce, rice, and beans. For $12.50 too.
