The first time we visited Ember and Oak since it was reopened. For our first time we went brunch it was absolutely fantastic wonderful service, food was great. We decided to invite our mother and father-in-law to brunch for our second time there. It was a birthday celebration. This time we got the private room on the side . We were 12:00 left at 3:00 pm. We were waiting one the rest of our party to show up, he arrived around 1:30, got the boom boom shrimp it was good. (Here is issue I was having )the lack of any kind of priority or attention to our table. It started off slowly and then escalated towards the end. Our server was more busy hanging out with a manager than paying attention to the table. We watched her many times basically ignore us when we needed to put in something. The kicker was we were stationed next to the server station and can hear her complaints and her talking to her coworkers and still did not pay attention us . Heard the complaints about us as well after having to send back food. “They don’t get I’m busy and I have other people to help” “ they don’t even know what they wanted “ those are her exact words. We know how a restaurant works… and we know what we wanted but couldn’t even get her attention to put an order in. Between the time we were there literally visited our table maybe seven times. First did not come to refill the water, parents love to drink had to run her down just to get drinks. The parents probably would have drank more alcohol if we were properly attended to…Mother-in-law literally had to get up from her seat to ask for a refill. Food came out wrong, The eggs Benedict were basically hard-boiled and had to be sent back, they ran out of fruit or some of our sides, then substituted our sides without even asking what we would like. Her complaints happened after we had to send the food back. My complaints started after we had to find her to refill drinks and the fact we were not checked on even for water refills. I was so embarrassed by the lack of professionalism or attention given. I had to apologize to my parents-in-law on the whole experience. Didn’t even waste time talking to the manager I don’t think that would’ve helped anything. After the first experience, I had high hopes for the place …...I don’t think I’m going to waste my time or money there after this one! The place seemed like a high-end but this was way below the expectations of McDonald’s. In the end the alcohol is great, the food is good but the...
Read moreLet me begin by saying that my wife and I don’t go to restaurants we don’t Normally go to. Tonight was a special occasion, my wife’s birthday. So I decided I was going to take her to a different restaurant. This was our first time ever being in this restaurant, our reservation was for 6:30 and we got there at 6:15. We were greeted by our host and almost immediately showed us to our table, it was a Tuesday and the restaurant looked pretty empty, not a lot of tables to wait. Our waitress name was Bailey, she was very friendly and attentive at first. We ordered a couple of waters and 2 cocktails that came out pretty quick. We ordered our appetizer that also didn’t take to long to come out, it was shrimp wrapped with bacon smothered in an incredible sauce that I can’t recall what the name was but very very delicious! Up to this point everything was perfect, my wife was having a good time and to me that was all that mattered. We placed our food order, I ordered the 12 ounce ribeye with loaded baked potato and French fries and my wife ordered the 8 ounce filet also with baked potato and French fries. 45 minutes after placing our order, our food was still not out, and our waitress was no where to be found. My wife and I sat there and watch 3 other parties come into our dining area that sat after we did by at least 20 minutes, get seated, waited and served their food before us! Our waitress Bailey comes out and says that there was some kind of delay with the meat, and that the food was coming out shortly. 20 minutes later our food comes out. For a 60 dollar ribeye this steak was missing a lot of flavor and my wife’s steak had a lot of pepper seasoning that she had to scrap off with her knife so she could eat it. Our waitress Bailey tried to make it right with a free dessert and I really appreciate her for doing that but at this point my wife and I already had a bad taste in our mouths about this place. I’m sure this restaurant can do better and I wished it had done better for us as I was trying to make my wife feel good and have a good dinner on her birthday, and for this I am not sure if I would recommend this...
Read moreEmber & Oak Prime experience: Made reservation for 4 with a baby/car seat ahead; No child car seat accommodations provided. Was initially given the food tray stand which was wobbly and not safe. Ultimately had to put the car seat in a chair. Wine/water Glasses dirty with lip stains (was told it was the 2nd complaint today) Ordered lemon berry spritz drink- was delivered with a very flat “enjoy;” no smile. Ordered a bottle of Prosecco to share for the table. They were out of their Wycliffe champagne which was $15 a glass. So we got the alternative for $30 for the bottle Lamarco. Not offered ice to keep the bottle on, and bottle came to the table already opened instead of being opened at the table. Bacon appetizer $30 for 4 pieces. Menu does not specify flavor and was told one had jalapeño after asking but they could not specify which one was which. Ordered Four meals: Salmon Benedict with grits (brought out as a salmon dinner but was quickly corrected). Rate it 5/10. Grits were cold and bland Chicken and waffles with grits- wasn’t fresh. Grits were cold. Shrimp and grits with fried green tomatoes (came out very cold) sent back and was told tomatoes were being remade but never came to the table. Shrimp and grits were microwaved. Eggs Benedict- “average” Final bill given and paid with American Express. Was not notified before hand that a $5 charge added due to AMEX credit card. And noticed after being charged a different amount. No manager came to table after all of this happening. The waitress was nice and timid but did not seem confident in her role or ability to handle the mishaps throughout. Very sad about our experience as we planned this ahead as a great local spot to try with our friends that came in from out of town to spend brunch for my husband’s birthday.
Opinion: quality overall did not match the...
