This is a long one, so TL:DR - Good staff, good appetizers, poor drinks, poor entree's, and poor desserts. Will not be coming back.
This was a first time experience for me, but this will probably be my last time here as well. Upon initially walking in, the staff were very kind and welcoming. They seated my friends, and I in a timely manner, so you don't have to worry about a long wait time. The layout was pretty good, so they get points for authenticity. Also, they have a pretty good selection of appetizers, just prepare your mind for "trying something new." I ordered the fried dumplings, definitely the winner. My friends orders something with lobster, and the other had octopus. We all tried some of everything, and we each approved of them all.
Unfortunately, that's about where the good things end for them.
While the appetizers were good, the rest of their food was not up to the same standard. Two of us ordered the Ying Yang bowl, which looked pretty good on the menu, but for it being $20 dollar, it was a major let down. Everything in the bowl had no real seasoning, or flavor. The pork that was in it was completely soggy, and I even found lumps of raw fat in mine. The Tempura shrimp was no better, bland clumps of defrosted slop. Even the boiled eggs were disappointing. My other friend disliked hers so much that she ordered something else entirely.
I also cannot recommend their tea selection, especially the Passion Fruit tea that my friend had. We all took a sip of it, and it was just foul. I spat it back out in just seconds of the intake. She ordered a simple coke just to get something decent to wash it out with. What makes it worse, is that the our initial waiter said that it was a "popular option." My friend was lied to. Also, the drinks don't get refills there. Choose wisely, and make it count.
Finally the desserts. Was it their worst? No, but it certainly wasn't their best either. My lady friend and I both got their Matcha Terimasu, and my buddy got their "Red-bean Pudding." Initially, the first layer tasted like stale powdered sugar(if that's even a thing.) However, it redeemed itself, when I got to the actual pastry, and ice cream sections underneath. As for the pudding, my buddy didn't even want to finish it.
Would I go back? Definitely not, and I don't recommend going here. I really wanted to leave a tip, but they simply did not earn it. Skip this...
Read moreWent here twice already. I really loved my first visit and I went to go tell my friends about it. Though the food took a little long to come out. It was fine with us. The service was pretty good as well. The ramen tasted exactly like ramen from Japan and the appetizer platter was really good especially the eel.
For our second visit, we got seated pretty fast and at one of the booths which was great. The host said someone will bring us some waters when we got seated. 10 mins or more later. No water. We were then ready to order so we pressed the button. We asked for water and ordered our food. My brother and I are servers as well so we understood if the food took a little long. We waited for — it felt like an hour — for our food, and no one even checked if we got our food yet. We understand that there’s a button to press to call, but we were patient and thought the food was just taking a little long because I know it does take a bit long from the previous visit. So I asked for another glass of water and asked about our food and one of the server (chris according to her name tag) said that there was a problem on their system and the food didn’t send through and apologized. As a server myself, it would’ve been nice if someone checked if we got our food yet. Shortly after, they started bringing us our food. The server who brought us our food (Naomi according to her name tag) was rude. We would say thank you every time she would put food on our table and we received no response at all. When she did my omurice, she never asked if I wanted the sauce on top of my tonkotsu like how they usually ask and forgot the parsley on my rice (which is not that big of a deal). Then chris brought another omurice and was really nice. She asked if we wanted the sauce on top of the rice and tonkotsu and would say you’re welcome back every time she would go to our booth.
We came to the restaurant around 7:30pm and got our food around 8:50pm. No kidding, They can even check the camera and timestamps. I never gave a review this long but it was really frustrating us.
Food was great as always but I wish they never divided the tips between servers as it affects...
Read moreVery disappointed with my experience there tonight. They are clueless about their food and very disorganized.
I asked our server which ramen are not spicy. She recommended the yinyang bowl. I asked if it had any pork and she said it has a piece but they can leave it out. I procedeed to ask if it was cooked with pork, bacon, lard or any part of a pork and she said that it wasn't. So I ordered that one.
Once it came, the shrimp part smelled and tasted very funny and terrible to me so I asked a different server what it was made of. She didn't know so she went to ask the cook. She came back and she told me it was made with pork!! I couldn't believe it. The manager came and apologized and told me that actually the other side (which i ate 70% of it already although it was spicy and not to my taste, but i was hungry) was made with pork and not the shrimp side. Now I was even angrier since that was the one we ate.
Before we left, the second server came to apologize and I asked again if she knew which side actually had pork since by then I was confused. She went and asked again in the kitchen and said that the shrimp one was made with pork broth and the other side was made with vegetable broth.
Once I made it home I checked their website only to discover that BOTH of them were made from pork stock.
I am very saddened by this as it is against my belief and religion to eat pork and not only did I eat it, but I fed it to my kid as well. I am disappointed that none of them had any clue about the food they serve there and couldn't answer basic questions.
The positives I can say about this restaurant are: the decor, cleanliness, the octopus balls were good and so was the matcha tiramisu. Also, the manager (which tried to hide or didn't know that both had pork) said that our check was taken care of and we did not have to pay for the food (we only had the octopus balls, edamame, yinyang ramen and matcha tiramisu).
Needless to say that we will never...
