My partner and I chose this restaurant for our date night, and despite some initial hesitation due to mixed reviews, we are thrilled that we decided to visit.
Reservation & Atmosphere: The reservation process was seamless, and we were pleasantly surprised to secure a last-minute booking. Upon arrival, we found the ambiance inviting, creating the perfect setting for an enjoyable evening.
Service: Our server, Camille, provided outstanding service. She was highly knowledgeable about the menu, offering excellent recommendations, and ensured our dining experience was seamless by checking on us frequently. Additionally, her engaging and professional demeanor made for a warm and welcoming experience.
Food: For appetizers, my partner opted for the Wild Game Experience, which featured duck, elk, and bison. Each meat was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and expertly prepared. The dish earned a 9.5/10, with the only minor critique being the expected “gamey” aftertaste of the duck. I selected the crab cakes, which were enjoyable, though not as exceptional as the wild game. I would rate them a 7/10.
The highlight of the evening, however, was the steaks.
I ordered the 14 oz. New York Strip with a loaded baked potato. It had been a while since I had an exceptional steak, and this one did not disappoint. Cooked to a flawless medium, it was incredibly tender, packed with flavor, and required no additional seasoning or sauce—an indication of a truly great steak. Without hesitation, I rate it 20/10. The baked potato, while flavorful, was not as hot as I would have preferred, so I would give it a 7.5/10.
My partner ordered the 14 oz. Ribeye, which he also rated 20/10. Cooked to a perfect medium with a beautifully executed crust, it was one of the best steaks he has had in a long time. However, the mashed potatoes he ordered as a side were underwhelming, earning a 5/10.
Chef Acknowledgment: During our meal, Camille informed us that Blair was the chef responsible for preparing our dishes. We had heard/read great reviews about him beforehand and were delighted to experience his culinary expertise firsthand. From the duck, elk, and bison to our perfectly cooked steaks, his craftsmanship was evident. Cooking such a variety of meats to perfection is no small feat, and Blair exceeded our expectations. A heartfelt thank you to him for an exceptional dining experience!
Overall Rating: We rate our meal 9.5/10 and would absolutely return. This restaurant is highly recommended for a date night or any...
Read moreHate to give such a low review, but the quality of the service as well as the food and pricing has taken a nose dive in my opinion. Went with my wife for a celebratory dinner only to wait for almost an hour while people were being seated that came in after us without a reservation, but this was a minor inconvenience. The problems began once we were seated next to a party of about eight people; mind you the sign stated no parties over six during the pandemic, this was the third or fourth party over that amount including two parties that were about 14 people. The party seated next to us proceeded to be so loud that they could be heard outside the restaurant, to say nothing of the two other parties sitting in the same section. I could not even hear what my wife was saying to me across the table. The next to last insult was the food was over cooked and dry, the chicken breast my wife ordered was so dry she ate about three bites before asking for a to go container and finishing a couple glasses of water to re hydrate. The last straw was the fine print on the menu that states that there is a 39% price increase, if I remember correctly, unless the bill was paid in cash. My wife and I have been there three or four times and had the same thing every time we went and were quite familiar with what the average cost of our meal ran. When we received out bill, it was almost 60 dollars more than it had been any other time we had been there and paying with a credit card every time. I am the last one to complain about an expensive meal, but paying almost 200 dollars for an undercooked steak and an overcooked, dry chicken breast and two beers in conjunction with the inability of the staff to control the party seated in the section with us was unacceptable. Any one of of these issues I would have chocked up to just an off night, but this was the second time that food was terribly prepared and we had given this one last chance only to be disappointed again. I would expect the type of behavior and noise levels there that night to a Chuck E Cheese, not a restaurant that supposedly prides itself on atmosphere and quality food. Take your chances, and make sure that you pay attention to the fine print and verify the things you are charged for and pray you don't get seated next to the same party we had to endure. It ruined a perfectly good date night for me and my wife and will definitely be the last time that we pay that much for...
Read moreI’ll be frank. Avoid this place. We dined at the Mesquite Chop House about a half dozen times when it first opened years ago. It was a well appointed steakhouse with service, staff, food, drinks and atmosphere to match. We got good value for money. However, that’s not the case anymore. I understand the restaurant changed ownership/management a few years ago. It’s physically the same building and decor, but everything else has certainly gone downhill. We made a reservation through Google mentioning it was our anniversary as a special occasion. However, there was never any recognition made of our special occasion. We were seated in the well appointed bar and anticipated service and beverages to match the atmosphere. However, the server was inked up as if she was at a biker bar with an attitude and demeanor to match. We ordered call brand alcohol but my old fashioned was served over crushed ice and without a cherry. We ordered pork chops and a ribeye. Since we were sharing we requested the ribeye be cooked medium well. However, the steak was red and cool to the touch; more of a rare to medium rare at best. The pork chop also was rare inside and had to be sent back. We were never offered bread, I had to asked for bread was told they were out. The restaurant was at ~20% capacity; no excuse for not having bread. The kicker was when the bill came. The total was $164 as expected, but when they ran the credit card I noted additional charges. We questioned the charge and was told it was a ‘Covid’ fee to cover expenses. In reality is was credit card fee. I questioned why the fee wasn’t mentioned online or on the menu. The server explained many customers weren’t happy about it. We ended up paying cash to avoid the fee. We will never go back Mesquite Chop House and recommend others avoid it too. There are plenty of other options for good steak. I guess, the biggest disappointment was the fact that we expected high-end service for the price we paid but we’re given the service expected at a $20 franchise steakhouse. By the way. As of 11 February 2025 this has one review. Has it been...
