During my recent visit to the State Capitol supporting Convention of States my son located in the heart of Springfield, Illinois, Cozy Dog, a cherished culinary gem known for its iconic corn dogs, drawing both locals and tourists alike. During we recent visit, we were impressed by the diverse range of corndog offerings that surpassed my expectations. Upon entering, the comforting aroma of freshly fried goodness enveloped me, complemented by the inviting retro decor that evoked a sense of nostalgia. However, it was the menu that truly impressed, boasting an extensive selection of corndog creations to suit every taste. Read moreI giving them 3 stars for the food. The food was amazing. But I took 2 stars away because of the staff. So I went with my mom and sister today. When we were walk in and there is all this politics comics around against the governor and talking about the mandates because of covid. My mom got 2 free cozy dogs (corndogs) for giving blood. The blood bank gave my mom this 2inch x 2inch paper saying that. When we took it to the cashier, at first they weren't going to take it. They called the other staff around to decide if they were going to get the deal. It made the situation very uneasy for us. The staff body language and attitude made us feel unwelcome. We sat down away from the kitchen. We could hear them bad talking other customers about them asking if they have outdoor seating. We ate our food and left quickly. I just think it silly for a place to have 3 to 4 workers in a complete empty building ask the customers to clean the tables. I also think it concerning that they are so cheap that they had a sign saying if you don't use all the condiments to put them back after they clean them. I understand since covid happened alot of people lost money and are struggling to make ends meets. But as a any business you need to adapt to the changing world and market. I hope this place never shut down. I love this place alot. However from today experience I may think twice...
Read moreWe had seen multiple television programs highlighting this location as a historic, fun and good eatery along world famous route 66. Hosts of the program had mentioned how tasty the corn dogs were; which they are well known for. Upon arrival to the restaurant the inside has nostalgia all over the walls. The pictures and 66 memorabilia will give you a trip down route 66 memories. That's the good news. That's why this rating is two stars instead of one. After ordering corn dogs and a cheeseburger we sat down to bite into our food expecting a satisfying meal. That is not what happened. The corn dogs had minimal flavor and the cheeseburger had an odd flavor, very dry and a texture that I will describe as fibery (not sure that is a word). The food is not recommended, unless you live for the flavor of ketchup and toppings because that's all you will really taste. One other note, the staff at the front were in their teens, which is fine and expected. However, one word and one syllable answers seem to be the communication of choice. I don't think many of them want to be there. Take pictures outside and then move on to a...
