Lighthouse Coffee — Restaurant in Sparks

My husband and I read great reviews before trying out the Lighthouse. We were not impressed with the staff. The young man looked like he just got out of bed with hair sticking up in sleeping fashion. Then I read the special, honey lavender latte, sounded yummy. The girl at the counter informed me they didn’t have honey…hmmm, and that was their special. I then ordered some food after searching through the menu. We found a seat with a beautiful view of the lake. My husband asked the young man if they had any cream for his coffee and the young man said yes and slammed two tables against the wall as he walked away to retrieve it. After my husband finished his coffee and breakfast I went up to the counter and asked the girl where my breakfast was and she said she forgot it. So I had to wait another 5 minutes for them to heat it up. I didn’t get an apology. I know everyone has a bad day once in a while. Their coffee is my absolute favorite in town, but I am so tired of being treated so rudely by disgruntled employees when I am there. The lavender scone and maple scone are two of my favorites of all time and I love the spicy bean burrito. However, when I walk up to the counter if I don’t flag down the employees they will often refuse to acknowledge my presence. I just waited ten minutes at the counter being 100% ignored… I mean, not even looking in my direction has to be completely deliberate at that point. I’m a pretty tall person, so I’m not invisible - just made to feel that way. I wanted one scone and one burrito and no drink today, but after standing at the counter for ten minutes a big group waltzes past me and gets immediately acknowledged and served. I just turned around and walked out. The location at the Marina is beautiful, but the vibe is that the employees don’t like their jobs and half the time don’t like one another. Great coffee and super friendly staff in a beautiful location. Highly recommend for a morning hit of caffeine and a nice walk around the Marina. Only complaint I have is small and honestly pretty circumstantial to myself but the WiFi here is ATROCIOUS. I work from home and like to get out of the house and work at coffee shops when I can to get myself out of the house. This would be a dream spot to set-up shop and work for a few hours and order a few beverages but the WiFi limitations keep me from being able to spend more time and money here. With work from home being more the norm these days, this place should be jumping during work hours Mon-Fri especially with a condo community literally attached to the building but instead it’s usually dead quiet after the morning coffee rush. Guys, get your WiFi right and I promise you’ll squeeze more juice out of this lemon—I know I’d be here way more regularly if I could count on the WiFi more when the coffee, staff, and location are...
