Update: May 14, 2025- 5 years after our previous visit. We stopped for lunch hoping for a better experience than before, which happened during COVID. This visit was a complete 180 from the 2020 review. Our food was ordered and delivered within 10 minutes. We had a few requests (more thousand island dsg on the side) and the server brought it right away with a smile. The food was good. It could’ve been spicier, but the bread, Reuben pastrami sliced meat was perfectly shaved and piled high. Good amount of sauerkraut and pretty much everything was as it should be. We will no longer avoid going to Jason’s. Before Covid we used to go all the time. Our Covid experience ended that for 5 years. Now I’m glad to be back. See prior review below.
2020: We went last night at 6:15 pm. It was a Saturday night. I expected the restaurant to be crowded but it was less than half full. That surprised me, but now i know why. We will not be going to this particular Jason's again. The service was slow. For a nearly empty restaurant and no one in line it took over 20 minutes to receive our orders. We ordered one Reuben sandwich to share, a grilled cheese sandwich and a cup of tomato soup, and half a Reuben with a cup of chicken noodle soup. Then to top it off the meat on my Reuben was half- heated, and the other portion ice cold. Ten minutes maximum to prepare would be more expected. And properly prepared.
Finally most of the tables that were empty had not been bussed. I noticed the busboy after awhile spending as much time playing on his phone as cleaning the tables. He would stand with his back to the kitchen and play on the phone, then clean a table. The ice cream station had plops of soft serve all over the base. What a mess. It was totally unappetizing.
The restrooms were a disaster,...

Attention GF and Wheat allergy people:
USE CAUTION!! They have a seperate menu and many, many GF options. I would have given 5 stars if not for the 3 hours of hives I had from server error and my trusting the process was safe to eat what I was given.
The food was good, and my GF food was placed in a seperate marked GF container so I feel the restaurant tries really hard. I made them aware of my allergy when ordering.
However.. I what I ordered came served with beef dip that was apparently NOT GF and was served with my food. I have a Wheat allergy which most GF foods cover. I should have asked again before I dipped, but my family felt if served I was ok. After I sampled, I went and asked cause I just felt it wasnt. I was told it wasnt safe for me. I went to my car took meds and still had tingles and hives the remaining drive to ATL and had to repeat meds when I got home. This morning hasnt been pleasant either..
UPDATE: I was wrong. So as I said they try really hard with all their allergen tools. I love the fact they reached out and want to ensure safety so Im changing my review. Theyre right, there is no wheat in what I was served..so apologies to all especially the servers. I didnt use the online tool just the instore menu, but will in the future because it has all the ingredients listed. However the hives were real. So maybe a new allergy has arisen in the form of a berry tea, but the restaurant and its servers were NOT at fault. I wanted to leave the original post to show the effort they put in.
This chain went above and beyond to make sure there wasnt an issue on their end..so thank you for due diligence.
I would eat there again, cause it was a really good sammy, but I will skip...
Read moreThis Jason's is one of the only restaurants in Spartanburg we patronize regularly because of the quality, consistency, value and affordability for a family of five. However we just ate here for our son's 12th birthday. He always wants JD for his birthday. Unfortunately this was the worst experience. There were only a few other families in there but one of the only available booths were dirty. I brought it to the employee's attention but he just told me thank you for cleaning it myself. I had to wipe it down with a napkin and sanitizer. I have nothing against Latin music but it sounded like a Mexican restaurant in there. We received our food, the beef eater is our favorite. But the meat was bland and the auju was so watered down that it was like dipping in salty water. My husband let the manager know and he just said "yeah it is kinda watery today, sorry". The cup they gave me my auju in was dirty with melted stuck on queso cheese on the inside. No hibiscus tea. It definitely wasn't worth the $70 we paid for the whole family to eat. My other son was happy with his sandwich so that's good. The best part was the yogurt that comes with the fruit. The tea was good too. I understand it's a tough time for everyone. We have been to a few restaurants since reopening from COVID and it's hit or miss, but I know it's possible to keep up the high standard that patrons are used to. I will happily delete this negative review when I see that it has returned to its...
