This is a great place to eat. We strive to make you feel like you're sitting at home at your own table but with our family. It's been 27 years of local, family ran service and we plan on another 27 years with the support of our community. Bob Hemphill, the owner, brings Texas style food to the Spokane area. He creates his own rub for his ribs, hand-cut beef brisket, and hand-cut pulled pork. He also makes his own bbq sauce some locals might have seen sold around town called Old South BBQ. The sauce is a Texas/Tennessee style blend offered in a mild or spicy option. He also makes a Carolina BBQ sauce popular with our customers who enjoy a vinegar based BBQ. The Carolina is only used on our pulled pork sandwich unless specially requested. The spicy BBQ is only used when requested. Otherwise the mild BBQ sauce is our default for the ribs and beef brisket. If you aren't interested in those we also serve a clean, farm-raised catfish that is cornmeal breaded and deep fried. I suggest calling ahead for this one because it is always cooked to order. Our chicken is fried southern style and we do not offer a spicy breading, however we can make you some appetizer sized party wings with buffalo sauce or our spicy BBQ sauce. Many of our meats are gluten free too. If you have any questions, feel free to call our store and we would love to help. We do take call in orders and walk-ins are welcome. Reservations are not necessary. We can also cater your special events. Visit us in store or online for our catering menu (pdf file under the "contact us" tab). While we do not deliver meals, we do deliver catering orders over $100 for a small fee given enough notice (24+ hours). My name is Mo and you can catch me at the store many nights. I work with my aunt, cousins, and my grandpa, Bob Hemphill. We are all more than willing to help you feel like dining with our family for...
Read moreThis place is THE JOINT. I hail from Alabama and I moved to Idaho 3 years ago. I haven't found legitimate southern cooking/Louisiana influenced- fried chicken etc etc since I arrived in the West 3 years ago. I had the opportunity to work in Spokane for 2 weeks, and the God's blessed me with Chicken-N-More. I Ate their 4 nights in a row. And am truly sad to leave Spokane bc no more Chicken-N-More. The fried Chicken has the perfect scald on it. Crust is delicious. Winston was cooking every Night I went in there. And boy he can tear it up. This is a family run business that was started generation's ago. And you can tell. The old man that started it is still working. It's his food. His recipes. He knows what he"s doing. My hats off to you sir. AJ his grandson holds everything down tight. Along with their other "family" member Logan..AKA Dat White Boy. Had great conversation with everybody. Every time. Part of the reason to come back. AJ, White Boy, Winston..you guys are all Aces. Anyways, if you want southern goodness.with a touch of Louisiana infusion...this is THE ONLY SPOT in Spokane. Hands Down . I salute you 👏 🙌 💯 Red Beans and Rice is legit the bomb. The fried Chicken is delicious. The jojo's crispy. Barbecue sauce has an excellent flavor. Subtle and sweet. Even the mild version has a nice little bit of heat on the back end. They also make a homeade Cajun garlic sauce that would make 5 day old bread delicious. Anyways. This spot is a gem..family run. Family feel. Salt of the earth people. Ill be back Chicken-n-More. Someday. Until then I'll...
Read moreGot stuck in Spokane overnight waiting for my car to get a couple of new tires and found this place the next day as I was waiting for everything to wrap up so I could pick up the puppy I had driven from Everett to adopt the day before. Walking around downtown looking for a place to eat that wasn't fast food or a franchise. I was their first customer of the day so I got exceptionally good service from the owner and her staff - nice people, warm and full of pride about their menu and food. I got a two piece chicken combo with the sweet potato puffs on the side. The chicken was off the hook good, the best I've had in years. The puffs were a nice delight, too - something I've never had before which is always fun to find. But back to the chicken. OMG, so good! I kinda wish I lived in Spokane so I could check out the rest of their menu. I love Catfish and was told by the owner that she makes it to order so it's always hot and finish. I had no problem believing this based on the chicken. Anyhow, what a nice find while stuck somewhere wishing you were home. I was made to feel at home and then the food went beyond my expectations. I regret not remembering their names - I'm bad like that. But I won't forget that chicken! I'll have to find another reason to visit Spokane. BTW, the puppy is an awesome addition to our family and well worth the trip to Spokane. The owner told me she has been there for 26 years, if my memory is correct. Based on the chicken alone, I can...
