China Dragón prepares adequate Americanized-Chinese food for Spokane. I especially enjoy the EGG DROP SOUP and the MOO GOO GAI PAN. We have ordered take-out from them 1xweek for the past five months, sometimes only for the soup. My family enjoys the food as much and sometimes more than the few restaurants we have visited. However, virtually every time an order is called, the reception is less than courteous. The staff are generally rude, argumentative and dishonest. In one case, we received an order of soup half full. Before that time, we had never thought to check after retrieving it for home consumption. The next order, (after waiting 10min on hold, twice) I requested to fill soup completely. To that the receptionist claimed they always do. When I explained my previous situation, she continued to deny the error, even though I was not asking for a refund, simply a fully prepared meal as ordered and paid. Luckily, I had insisted on photographing the “half full soup” after the previous incident. They offered a very small percentage off our meal that was still less than full compensation towards the soup. However, beyond that, there was no sense of regret for their error and certainly no indication that our previous loyalty and support for their business was valued. In this day, take-out is more prevalent than eat-in because of Covid. It is crucial to have a courteous team responsible for phone orders. Spokane visitors & residents have reasonable choices for Chinese restaurants. Service matters, even for take-out orders. At least, it does to me and my family because we will NOT be returning to China Dragon. Photo attachment is of untouched interior of a bowl sized soup container with partial amount of WONTON broth bought for take-out from China Dragon July, 2021. Edited to add: we now make our own egg drop to be exactly how we prefer it. So, I appreciate the poor service as an opportunity to test our own skills of food preparation. 😉

D I S A P P O I N T E D Read the past negative reviews about the quality of food going back 5 months- 1 year. It’s been 3 years since we were last here and the food quality was fantastic then. Last week’s experience from what was once a great Chinese restaurant is no more. Notice that the owners now fail to respond to any google map reviews. To be fair, I will point out a few positives. They did accommodate 5 of us with a reservation and the chairs are comfortable. The server was very persistent to make sure we had everything we needed, the whole time. The service was fast. The hot tea was abundant. The combination plate sizes were the largest we have ever seen for a Chinese restaurant. Large fried prawns are about 8 to 10 inches. However, the negatives abound. The outside of the restaurant has not been maintained. I mention the sizable proportion served. But quantity does not make up for inferior quality. I ordered a combination #11 plate, Almond Chicken, Special Chow Mein, BBQ Pork and an Egg Roll. The gravy in the Almond Chicken blended between no taste to an identifiable flavor. Not the flavor I am accustomed to across the western states at many other Chinese Restaurants. The special Chow Mein does have the advantage of not having any celery, but the soft noodles were gummy. The broccoli in the Special Chow Mein is under cooked. The BBQ Pork had no flavor except for the red sauce I dipped the pieces into. The large Egg Role was salvageable with the requested hot oil. I purposely did not use soy sauce to get the true flavor of the cuisine. I usually do not write bad reviews but my experience here is a fair warning to others. If the owners were concerned they would be responding to the negative reviews as well as the positive ones.

Met my Dad at China Dragon Spokane for lunch today. Our server was great, the restaurant and bathrooms were clean. My Dad had been saying (for quite some time) that he wanted to go to a Chinese restaurant that had brown sweet and sour sauce, not the red sweet and sour sauce that is very prevalent in our area. When I was pregnant with my Son (that will be 31 this year 😳) my Dad and I went to The China Dragon every single week. It’s where I learned to master chopsticks, because I wanted to “impress” my MIL (she was Japanese). 😊 I knew they had the brown sweet and sour, so we made plans for lunch. Was going to be yesterday, but Father’s Day was more fitting. Food was really good, dinner prices are a little higher than many other places in town, lunch prices are decent, but the amount of shrimp in the shrimp dish that came with my dinner-sized combo was ridiculous (two tiny shrimp in my black pepper shrimp). I did have lots of leftovers though. 😂 So definitely check out China Dragon, it’s been around for a long time. The food is good, the restaurant is clean. Just don’t order any stir-fried shrimp dishes. 😆

I have been coming to China Dragon for many years. I sit in the bar for an adult atmosphere. I have had many frustrations with one particular server, Mandi. I have come when there were 2 people at the bar with no one else in the bar. Most of the tables had not been cleaned off. My husband and I selected one that was the cleanest. When she brought the menus I asked her to please wipe the table first. She dropped the menus on the table, got a cloth and picked up the now dirty menus and wiped the table off. Then set the menus down. She proceeded to talk to the people at the bar and not take our orders. When she did she walked back to the bar and talked a few more minutes before entering the order. When the order came to us it was luke warm. I told her that it was not hot. She said she picked it up right when it was done. I asked her if it could be heated up. She took it back and it came back hot. She continued to talk to the people at the bar. She didn’t come around to fill up our pops. I finally went up to the bar with my glasses and she filled them. We got our tab and payed it. The tables were still uncleared. I found out that she had Thursdays off so I try to plan to eat on her day off. My husband wanted to eat Chinese this afternoon so we ventured in. 1 person at the bar, a couple just finishing their dinner and my husband and I. After a few minutes of talking to the lady at the bar she came to the table to ask us what we wanted to drink and then brought us our menu. A couple of men came in to the bar and she brought them drinks. She took our order, did not enter it into the computer, went back to the bar to fill drinks for now 3 people at the bar. She then took the two men’s orders as another 2 men came in. She brought drinks to the first 2 men that came in after us, went from their table to the second set of men and took their orders as well. She then went to the computer to enter orders. By this time it was 15 minutes since we had given her our order. The two men that had come after us received their order. Just a few minutes later the second two men got their orders. She did not come to our table. Finally I asked an employee that had come to get drinks for the main restaurant. They checked and came back to say that our order would be a few more minutes. And about 10 minutes later HE brought the order to us with an apology. After all of this episode the order was wrong. I asked for noodles with my chow mien. It came with hard noodles. Mandi has had similar behavior every time we have come. She gave no explanation or apology for overlooking our order. The gentleman that had brought the order to us apologized profusely for it. He had played no part in this other than looking for and serving our food to us. He was not even...

I used to like this restaurant, so much so that I drive from Coeurdalene to eat there. Tonight I went there and ordered a take out meal, asked the waitress (on 11/21/21 at about 5 pm) for several substitutions and a couple of extra things ( no big deal, an extra set of chopsticks, some sesame seeds, etc. like I said no big deal, except I always get sesame seeds for my Chinese food, I don’t like Chinese food without it. Ever.) She brought me my bag of food and said everything was in there. My mistake was not looking in the bag, didn’t want to seem rude and just assumed everything that was supposed to be in there was in there, and handed her an OVER 25% tip. When I got all the way back to CoeurdAlene and opened the bag I was very disappointed to find that there were NO chopsticks at all, no sesame seeds, and the wrong soup altogether. And that WASN’T something I wanted substituted. It was just wrong. And I hate eggflour soup. I could totally understand if they were super busy, but they weren’t at all. She did include a couple extra fortune cookies as I had asked, and got two of the substitutes correct, (and I have to admit that the food tasted good) I would have let it go and I’ve never left a bad review for any business before, never wanted to be the guy to do so, but when I called them to tell them what had happened the waitress herself talked with me on the phone, and I told her I didn’t want to leave a bad review online, I just wanted to let her know what happened.. but I could barely talk to her without her interrupting me, I literally had to stop her and ask her to let me finish telling her… then when I was finally done telling her her response to me was ,” Well, the next time you come in I hope it’s better for you.” And that was it. I can’t even blame any of it on a language barrier because she was Caucasian just like me! THAT’S why I’m leaving this review. Their food is still my favorite Chinese food, but the service sucks and that particular waitress’ attitude made it so that I probably won’t ever...
