Update: Thank you Kara for reaching out and making things right. The pineapple tasting and smelling like alcohol due to fermentation makes complete sense. Which is no one's fault. This will be a great learning and teaching opportunity for everyone! I understand, that in the current world we live in, that unfortunately everyone has become stretched thin and is under a lot of pressure and stress. Our faith is definitely restored in the customer service of your establishment. We will definitely eat here again, as we have never had a problem before. So thank you again for reaching out and making things right and explaining that pineapple ferments really fast and it will give it that alcohol taste and smell.
We had food delivered Wednesday night around 7pm. First and most important complaint. The pineapple that came on the Maui chicken tasted like rubbing alcohol. The chicken was so over cooked it was like it had been dehydrated inside of the breading. Called the restaurant to inform them of the pineapple having a chemical taste and smell to it. The person on the phone was extremely rude. Placed me on hold and then came back to say the cook said the pineapple was fine. Thats all fine and dandy. But mine still tastes like rubbing alcohol. The so called manager gets on the phone and I explain it again. She basically said well the cook said there is nothing wrong with the pineapple. They swore up and down that there was zero chance of cross contamination with anything. Pretty much got, I dont know what to tell you but not my problem. Didn't get offered a replacement or refund or even restaurant credit. My entire dish was ruined and I sure as heck was not going to risk eating the chicken that had now been stirred around with the pineapple. The other 4 meals that were ordered were sub par to be nice. Didn't get any sauce with the chicken oska meal. So that turned out to be just plain chicken and rice. After spending over $100 on 4 dinners and 1 lunch size meal plus a tip, all I can say is eat at your own risk!! We will definitely never eat or order food...
Read moreVisited Mustard Seed for the first time tonight with some friends. The restaurant was alright; relatively clean, orderly, and the music was okay. Unfortunately, I think some understaffing was happening, which I totally understand as that's something happening all over the place. This did effect our visit as we weren't entirely sure who our server was due to a few different people dropping off drinks and food. We ordered three different dishes: the General Mustards Chicken (can come as Halibut for a few bucks more), Stir Fried Noodles with Chicken and Pork (this can be upgraded to shrimp, tofu, or just veggies), and the Osaka Shrimp. We read that some of the other review mentioned small portions, lighter fare, and a relative high price point. While the price is higher than what we're used to, we were more concerned with the food. There wasn't anything wrong with it technically, but if you're expecting big flavor profiles, I wouldn't choose this restaurant in particular. The GM Chicken was definitely mild, not spicy, but very crispy. I wish there was more chicken and a side of rice included with this meal. The stir fried noodles were bland, as was the meat. And it was difficult getting the attention of wait staff to get any soy sauce, pepper, or salt. The shrimp seemed to be the way to go; delicious, super flavorful, and it came with rice. But the dish itself wasn't complete without some kind of vegetable included. Overall, what service we received from the wait staff was okay. No one was rude, but the whole experience was very quick and neutral, which is the best case scenario for how the whole experience went. I would also go on to add that the menu itself is limited, as even though it's got "Asian cafe" under it's name, the selection was pretty similar. I'll consider visiting again, and if the experience is better I will change my stance. But as of now, it's subpar during these trying times of...
Read moreMy family and I LOVE this place and we've been eating here for years. Occasionally they've messed up and management has been good about getting it right, which we appreciate. We've also ordered out before and the food has been good, but tonight was a bit ridiculous. I know the holiday rush can get people tripped up, but that's not an excuse for that. I ordered teriyaki chicken for take out and we live an hour away. However, the teriyaki chicken was an unbelievable mess. I know sesame seeds are apart of it but it shouldn't literally coat both sides of each piece of chicken and there's a ton of chopped up green onions. Not just a piece here or there but at least 3 chopped buts per piece. We also asked for 2 sides of sauce. One was right and the other wasn't even close. After all the issues we've been having, we've started recommending people not eat here. The staff and atmosphere are great but the food quality is becoming more trouble than it's worth. You would be better off going to places like Panda Express or SushiQQ to get your money's worth. I'm really disappointed that this icon of a restaurant in Spokane is crashing down hill these days. Complete waste of our Christmas Eve and not worth the money spent. You better believe we won't be back. The only reason to go back is for drinks at the bar. Not every dish they make is awful, but the quality is starting to go down and they don't seem to check the food before it goes out. Here's to hoping they get...
