★★★★★ Sumo Sushi, a hidden gem nestled in the vibrant heart of southwest Las Vegas, stands as a culinary sanctuary for those who cherish the artistry of authentic Japanese cuisine. During my recent visit, I embarked on a unique culinary adventure with their luxurious all-you-can-eat lunch offering—a delightful journey that unfolded like a vibrant symphony, harmonizing an array of flavors, intricate textures, and captivating visual artistry that reinforced my belief that sushi transcends mere sustenance; it is indeed a profound culinary expression.
From the moment I savored the first piece, I was enveloped in a meticulously curated selection of nigiri and rolls, each crafted with an artisan's flair and an unwavering commitment to the freshness of ingredients. The delicate sweetness of succulent fish—whether the buttery tuna or the delicate snap of salmon—danced blissfully with the gentle warmth of perfectly seasoned sushi rice, each grain a testament to the craftsmanship behind the technique. Every piece felt unique in its composition yet maintained an overall sense of harmony that underscored the dining experience.
To enrich my sushi journey, I explored an array of appetizers and specialty dishes from their extensive menu. Every offering—from the exquisitely crisp, golden-brown tempura that cracked delightfully with every bite to the creamy, umami-rich miso soup that enveloped my palate in warmth—was executed with remarkable precision and elegance. It is quite rare to find such meticulous attention to detail in an all-you-can-eat format, and Sumo Sushi masterfully delivers this experience with exceptional grace.
Equally noteworthy was the service, which transcended expectations. My server embodied attentive hospitality, exuding warmth, and genuine enthusiasm that made me feel as though I were the honored guest at an exclusive omakase. Not once did I feel neglected; rather, the experience was consistently elevated by their thoughtful pacing and insightful recommendations, ensuring that every moment felt perfectly timed and curated.
The atmosphere at Sumo Sushi is as meticulously composed as the dishes that grace its tables. The interior design artfully melds traditional Japanese aesthetics—intimate wooden booths adorned with intricate carvings and thoughtfully arranged seating—with playful modernity showcased through vibrant anime artwork gracing the walls. This seamless fusion of refined tradition with contemporary cultural nods creates an ambiance that is not only inviting but also immerses diners in a rich tapestry of culture, transforming a simple meal into an engaging culinary journey.

Read moreSumo Sushi a trendy, hip and casual Japanese restaurant under new management offering All You Can Eat on Warm Springs and Durango area. First time to Sumo Sushi after the new management. The fish tank has been removed-if you have been here before the new management you should know what I’m talking about. I love the ambiance and decor here, it is brighter, cool light fixtures, the Japanese wall art, the Cherry Blossom Tree with lights, the music playing throughout the restaurant matched the theme of the restaurant and seating all around.

The service was great, they were all helping each other out bringing out the food, clearing out our empty plates, water refills, taking the orders, etc. Vivian was our server she is sweet and kind. She helped us with questions about some of the items on the menu and gave good recommendations as well. Our food came out looking good. Fresh and ready to eat. One of the items was The Pan Rose’ Udon it is on the menu as “strongly recommended” a Pasta with cream tomato sauce with bacon. It was tasty it had a bit of spice to it but not too much. The Hanger Steak limit one per person was so good. The Seared Super White Tuna Nigiri and the Seared Garlic Tuna was a hit it was on a rotation. The Salted Honeybee Pork Belly they were small bites and yummy. We had the Kobe Beef Nigiri from the All Day Special Menu “must try.” Affogato for dessert we asked for extra cereal topping. Everything we ordered was so delicious! Highly...
Read moreTonight I waited 2.5 hours for a reservation, usually I would not give that timeframe any consideration, but I waited. I should of went elsewhere, so I just got over Covid so my eyes are bigger than my stomach, and my appetite, and just stomach health is questionable at best.
We ordered to much so we cancelled what was still to come, I ate the nigiri I orders gorging myself, but I didn’t eat the rice on eight pieces. Let’s say 50 cents in rice, they charged me for 9.95, first I would not have attempted to stuff myself beyond my capacity.
Why are there rules like this over some rice, my intention at any Sushi place is not to over order, and finish what I ordered. Why do we have to do this, it’s not like we ordered tons of food, and didn’t eat it. We are talking a small amount of rice. The business could care less that I said I would never come back, because I have principals, and a warning could have been conveyed instead of slamming a 10 dollar fee.
Profit over Customer Service, we do not go to restaurants to be told what we can and cannot do, we go for the food the ambiance, Customer Service, and how we are treated, well I give a big fat zero out of 10 for this place.
How did the manager handle this, not well at all, no action or respect to keep a customer coming back just because Sushi places are the only establishments to have rules that make sense if there are an abnormal amount of food left behind. Not 50 cents of rice, yeah maybe there struggling, but in this time and age are we not all suffering in many different ways. No empathy, no emotional intelligence from this White haired young lady.
Well be warned, maybe 10 dollars is nothing, but a little decency to try to keep a customer maybe!???
I will be passing this on to others, regardless it should be conveyed that profit matters than Customer Service...
