I workout religiously 5-6 days a week M-Sat. Post workout I always grab a smoothie from a smoothie king nearest the gym I decided to workout at on particular days. I am a US Army Disabled Veteran. With that being said I have been to many various locations. Each time I go I ask for a military discount and am granted that once I show my Veteran ID. I have never once been denied it and at some locations that I frequent often the staff remembers me and gives it to me every time I go their establishment without having to show my ID anymore. However the first time I went to this particular location I walked in and ordered. I was assisted by an employee named Erica C. She was very kind and helped me and gave me my military discount with no problem. It was an extensive hold but I’m a patient person so I wasn’t bothered by the hold time. My issue was when I returned to this location 2 days later and decided to go through the drive thru. That day the employee named Taymar was working the drive thru. When I pulled up to pay for my smoothie I asked to use my military discount and presented my Veteran ID as usual. He then stated that I had to be in uniform to get the discount. I explained to him that I always get a military discount at any and every smoothie king that I spend my money with. He argued me down about not giving me a discount. He stated that their district manager doesn’t offer the discounts to veterans and that you have to be in uniform. He gave me the discount anyway (with an attitude) so I asked him for the district managers FULL name. He repeatedly kept saying “Mr. Armstrong” and refused to give the proper information. All I wanted to do was inquire about if that was the protocol for this location so I know not to spend my money there. The back and forth ended with him shutting the drive thru window in my face. I have never had such a horrible ghetto experience at a smoothie king before. I will not be returning to that location until there’s new staff. Taymar was so disrespectful and displayed an attitude as if he hates his job! I hope something is done about this because it’s sickening that folks apply for customer service positions but have absolutely no good customer service. I will definitely be in touch with the district manager and corporate about this issue. I am a Veteran and I served so that we can all have the freedoms that we enjoy in this country. The least you could do is serve us...
Read moreThe experience was mediocre at best. The niece, wife and I checked what time this location closed and on their website and Google it states it's open till 10pm. All of us wanting a smoothie, we headed over. Entered the store at 9:01. Understood their to be quite a wait since there was quite a handful of customers and only two employees. We settled into the line and started examining the menu for what we would order. Didn't catch the name of the male employee but he saw us walk in and get in line and saw us waiting there every time he gave some else their order. When it finally came to us, he walked over rolled his eyes sighed and said he didn't know if he should take our order. As if we had offended him in some way. We asked him why and he answered with y'all walked in after 9, the lobby closes at nine, no where does it state this. so I asked him if he was going to take our order since we had been standing there and he said no. He clearly saw us walk in and knew he wasn't going to take our order yet not at one moment did he take a second to advise us that he wasn't going to take our order instead with his lack of customer service skills had us stand there in the line for around 12 minutes, knowing full well he wasn't going to help us. So I asked him "you watched us stand in line all that time and couldn't have told us that you weren't going to take our order" he just shrugged and rolled his...
Read moreHorrible Experience – Unprofessional and Discriminatory Behavior by Store Manager, Chris
I am completely and utterly disappointed in my recent experience at the Smoothie King located at 1960 Rd W, Houston, TX 77069. The store manager, Chris, demonstrated behavior that I can only describe as unprofessional, dismissive, and deeply concerning. I left the store feeling racially profiled and disrespected something no customer should ever have to experience, especially from someone in a leadership position.
I conducted myself in a calm and professional manner throughout the interaction, and I strongly urge corporate to review the in-store cameras and audio to see the truth for themselves. Chris’s unwillingness to provide even the most basic level of customer service was shocking. He made no effort to resolve the issue or treat me with dignity, which reflects incredibly poorly on the Smoothie King brand.
Chris should not be in a management role. His actions not only damaged my trust in this location, but also in the brand as a whole. Smoothie King deserves better representation than this someone who values every customer and upholds a standard of equity and respect.
I hope this is taken seriously by leadership. No one should feel targeted or mistreated when trying to support a business.
A Disappointed and...
