updated review* Ok this is hard but important. Spent an hour in the shop today. We drive 30 min for their tasty bagels. Spent almost 40min waiting for a totally incorrect order. I’m not mad about the wait- I understand bagel places are busy on the weekends. I was not in a rush. I didn’t complain. The incorrect order shows they are struggling with being busy. They started to bicker and blame each other. I opened and touched the bagel to see what it was- when I gave it back he proceeded to wrap it back up & did not throw it away (He was standing next to the can) “sir, I touched those orders, please don’t give them to someone else” He looked annoyed that I caught him & reluctantly put it “aside” As I waited for the corrected orders, one of them says “time to lock the doors” I was not sure what that meant until i was sitting & eating at the table next to the door. They LOCKED the door to prevent more customers from getting inside. Closing time is in two hours. Families kept coming up to the door knocking and looking and wondering why it was locked. Uber eats drivers too. I had to ignore those people looking at me for help bc I was not going to manage/help this FIRE hazard situation. Another guest waiting a long time asked for the manager. Response was “owner is not here today” no resolution. My biggest issues are

  1. fire hazard locking the door
  2. the costumers that were turned away without an explanation. Why not just let them in, explain it will be awhile and let them decide if they want to wait or leave. Or Put a sign on the door??
  3. offer a free bagel or a small coffee to help keep loyal customers or prevent losing future business?
  4. bathroom appears clean but smells like pure strong piss.

Even when you are busy & overwhelmed safety is priority and they should try harder to keep customers coming back.

I won’t go out of my way to come back but if we are in the area I will give them another chance.

the Closest to a NEW YORK bagel so far. Except they do not understand what WELL WELL toasted means.🙄

Been on the search throughout Houston for NY bagels-...

This review is for NY Bagels not for Abby's. For some reason Google took the reviews of the previous bagel place and applied them to this new restaurant (also bagels but with none of the same people or store name)

The owners (4 Brothers) sell bagels in the HEB at Barker Cypress and 290. They are excellent bagels and remind me of "real" bagels from the NE. Our favorite local bagel shop (Abby's) went out of business around a year ago - heartbroken.

4 Brothers eventually bought the shop and opened the end of Jan 2022. Our bagel commute went back to about 15min from the 1 hour it took to go to get them from their HEB location - so excited.

It's a nice shop, good people working there, plenty of parking easy to get into and out. They serve breakfast and lunch dine in or carry out. Their bagels are good. Unfortunately there are not as good as the ones sold at their HEB location. My personal preference is for dense and chewy with plenty of well developed gluten. The more standard Texan's taste is for something lighter so I understand why they might go a little more mainstream so these could be perfect for you. We have visited the store 4 times over the past month and ate a few dozen bagels.

Hey, if you are used to the ones that come in bags at the grocery store these will be a BIG step up and there is nothing better in this 1960 area. This is a new store and they may still be honing their processes we will check in once in a while....

My first time visiting here today was absolutely AMAZING! On a recent trip to New York, unfortunately I was unable to try the bagels there but when I read the raving reviews about this place I had to try it! From the moment I stepped inside, the New York vibe was obvious. From the signage and pictures on the wall to the overall environment, I knew I was in for a treat. The manager greeted me instantly and when I told him it was my first time there, he immediately began telling me about how everything there was handmade from the cream cheeses, to the pastries, even the bagels. I believe his name was Josh. Before you know it, our conversation went on to where he was from, Jersey to be exact, which was apparent to me due to the accent. The next thing you know we were talking about Houston and New York traffic, weather and just about life in general. Very welcoming, friendly, and down to earth. I can’t wait to go back and try more on the menu. I had the blueberry bagel with blueberry cream cheese and as the signage read “you have been warned these are very addictive” they were absolutely right! No pictures this time around as I was so anxious to dig in, by then it...

Bagel sandwiches, cinnamon rolls and coffee options were good. Scones are too small for the price. Overall, I thought the service was great it does get busy on the weekends and the prices are a little more than some other bagel shops in Houston but to some the cost might not be an issue.

A trip to New York made me fall in love with their bagels. I came across 4 Brothers NY Bagels recently and had to see if their bagels were everything I remembered from the bagel shop in Tarrytown, NY. Guys, they did not disappoint! My husband is less adventurous when it comes to food, but he approved. I had a "Everything Bagel, plain cream cheese, turkey, egg and cheese" and he had a "Hungry Man" on a Cheddar Bagel. Both were nice and toasty, fresh and hot! We also enjoyed a cup of coffee, despite the coffee being lukewarm, they quickly prepared another pot. We met the owner, Mike, and we chatted for a few minutes. You can tell he's a "People Person" and as a customer, you enjoy that. We had a great conversation with him and are happy that they are expanding their business. Check them out at this location or any of their other locations for some fresh bagels!
