Las Islitas #1 — Restaurant in Texas

Great food, unfortunately the FRIDAY we decided to go they did not have a bartender the waiters were in charge of making our drinks. My friend mentioned how she couldn’t taste the alcohol on her margarita. The waiter who attended us took longer than expected due to the fact that there wasn’t any bartender. She takes the drink returning with a new one apologizing that they had only put the mixer in WITHOUT any alcohol. Her excuse was that they had order a different mixture that didn’t contain any alcohol and the one they normal use it’s just poured. She then brings a new drink as she should. My friend doesn’t like it again it doesn’t taste like there’s any alcohol. The waiter took so long that her margarita watered down. We let her know that she simply didn’t like the drink and if she could please remove it off her order. She informs us to discuss with the cashier which I believe it’s the owner or manager. Approaching her she doesn’t even give us the opportunity to explain how her waiter doesn’t even know how to make a margarita in the first place. She insisted that we took to long to decide that she didn’t want the margarita that she was going to charge us due to the fact that we kept talking and talking and decided you know what we just don’t want to drink it since it water down. No ma’am your waiter doesn’t even know what she’s doing. How are you not going to have a bartender on a Friday having someone serve just the margarita mixture and refuse to not remove the drink she practically didn’t finish. I wouldn’t go her again not after making such a big deal for a margarita that she so much didn’t want to loose...

We enjoy trying new places to eat at and like giving little hole in the wall kind of places a shot so we did just that this morning. From outside it looks a bit run down if you will but once you step inside it's completely the opposite. The waitress took our order and some how thought I said I would share my wife's plate when in fact I said I'd have what she is having. 20 minutes later the food came out and she explained she hasn't put my order in, so she places it and another 20 minutes my food came out. This isn't even what made me upset what really pissed me off was that the owner was watching everything. He walked passed our table and never asked what was going on, never apologized for the inconvenience, he didn't wonder why my family was eating while I watched.... nothing. My wife and I ordered the same dish and we didn't even finish half of it. Horrible food, horrible service, ridiculous pricing and poor management. I'm not sure if I can give it half a star because it's my first time doing a review but we will never be back...

Oh my...nope, I won't be here again. I walked in late afternoon and the place was empty. They had the neon lights on, music very loud and TV's going as well. Apparently the children of one of the employees were hanging out in the dining area...a big faux pas in my book. I decided to stay and see what the food was all about and because I was hungry.

The menu is mainly seafood with an average plate cost of $15, which is quite high for an establishment like this, the menu is hard to figure out if you don't read Spanish (there is "English" on the menu), and the English of the server wasn't good enough to help me either.

The food arrived on a reusable plastic plate (seriously?!) and the quality was below average, with the best part being the toasted french bread. I asked if I could have one more piece of bread, and was told no, but that I could have 3 pieces at a cost of $4.50...no thanks.

I paid and got out of there ASAP,...
