2/10/24 Edit: A place that is worth the 30 minute drive!!! Will come back frequently to both add more photos for the establishment and enjoy the quality food/service. I also appreciate all the staff, Milay, Jasmine, Barol, and Martin! 5/5 service and experience as always đ
Entering this place, we were welcomed immediately and it wasnât crowded at all. The atmosphere and the music alongside it was great. My family and I went for AYCE sushi. Below is my review and notes of everything we ordered.
(Unedited first review below)
Tried the tuna Tataki and the pepper tuna. Both had 4/5 for both texture and flavor. I liked the tuna Tataki. Ordered the shumai and I would give the texture 5/5. Once you bite, it feels like it would melt in your mouth. The flavor I would give 4/5 with a light shrimp flavor, not too heavy.
Cucumber roll texture was 3/5 and flavor 4/5. The cucumber was crunchy and fresh, but the nori was a bit chewy.
Tuna and salmon roll. 4/5 for both texture and flavor. Nice chunks and the colors for both are amazing. I liked the taste of the salmon.
The inari sushi was 4/5 on texture and 5/5 flavor. One thing to note was that the tofu was sweet. The spicy kani sushi was 4/5 for both flavor and texture. I liked the presentation.
Shrimp tempura roll 5/5 on texture and flavor. The texture was lightly crispy and the flavor was enough to focus on the shrimp rather than the batter. Whatâs noted is that the tempura wasnât overly done which is a plus.
I-10 roll 4/5 for texture and flavor. The mango was sweet but it didnât overpower the flavor of the crab.
Dragon roll I didnât try but my family said they tasted more avocado than eel. 225 roll 4/5 on texture and 5/5 flavor. Crunchy shrimp was the focal point. Flavor was heavy on the shrimp and light crawfish flavor.
Caterpillar roll 4/5 texture and 5/5 flavor. Heavy on snow crab flavor and cream cheese.
Crazy California roll 4/5 texture 5/5 flavor. Double spicy roll 4/5 texture and flavor. A little spicy as expected but itâs delicious.
Masa roll 5/5 on texture and 4/5 flavor. Light crisp outside and the creamy inside.
Little Tokyo roll 5/5 on texture and flavor I especially liked this one. Lightly crunchy on the outside and creamy on inside. Heavy on cream cheese and light on the eel sauce and spicy mayo.
Bomb roll 4/5 on texture and 3/5 flavor. Heavily crunchy and the umami masked the taste of everything else.
Salmon skin salad I did not try but my family said the salmon skin was crispy and there was eel sauce to add into the flavor.
Miso soup thereâs just seaweed, tofu, and the broth. Took a few spoonfuls and it was salty. 3/5 overall.
Chicken tempura and shrimp tempura both 5/5 on texture and flavor. Lightly crispy and exceptionally juicy from the chicken! Light chicken flavor. Shrimp tempura lightly crispy with a nice bite from the shrimp. Veggie tempura 3/5 texture and 4/5 flavor. Just that the sweet potato was hard to eat. Donât know how it was done but should look into that.
Red bean ice cream 5/5 texture and flavor.
Second day:
Kani Naruto the texture is 5/5, flavor is 5/5. Spicy Kani Wrap texture 4/5, flavor is 5/5
Bon Temp's Roll texture and flavor 4/5. Dragon Roll texture is 4/5 and flavor 5/5. The Double Crunchy Roll texture 5/5. Flavor is 4/5.
Masago sushi texture is 5/5 and flavor 4/5. Smoked Salmon sushi texture is 5/5 and flavor 5/5. Escolar sushi texture is 5/5 and flavor 5/5. Red snapper texture and flavor 4/5.
Eel Roll texture 4/5 and flavor 5/5. Philadelphia Roll, Spicy Salmon Roll texture and flavor 4/5. Boston Roll texture 5/5 and flavor 4/5.
Baby Tiger texture 5/5 flavor 4/5. Crazy California texture 4/5 flavor 4/5.
Rainbow Roll texture and flavor 4/5. Snow White texture 5/5 flavor 4/5.
Overall 5/5. Would I go back again? Definitely when I have the chance, recommended by my family or friends. Amazing experience and will recommend this place...
Read moreAlright, been coming here since I moved back to Texas after a decade away & stumbled upon this place. Iâve been coming here for almost an entire year now and can honestly say: I know all the things. MelyââTHE best, literally knows basically everything I get (but then again, all my chosen servers do at this point!) she even left for a while (it was so sad for me) and I quit coming as often, but she is back!!! I rarely got to talk to her so would try to come during the hours where restaurants are usually slow because she would have some tables and the bar, so it was either we didnât talk because she was incredibly busy rushing around to be the amazing. Tonyââhe always remembered my order, the specifics. Unfortunately for me, Tony is always banished to the 600s and I HATE it over there, it makes me want to cry, so anytime I see Tony come over to my favored section (table), he always manages to speak to me, so we can check in with each other. Berylââis top tier, I enjoy talking to her when she isnât busy running around like the baddie she is. There was another guy I super liked, but he is no longer with them, I was sad about it but replaced him with Beryl, and as I said above, top tier!! ~Those are my people, and I have walked out when they werenât there!! I do try to call to ask if my any of them are even there bc the drive IS 40 minutes, minimum (aka without any traffic).
I donât have too much experience with the management in the last year, I only had one pretty small incident (literally, the shrimp tempura was a bit cold) and not only did they fix it (as they should), one of the managers had given me a slight bill reduction, I assume for the inconvenience, and really, it wasnât even that huge of a deal, but I appreciated it nonetheless! So, onto the specific mention of a manager: there is a new, training-for-another-location (boooo!!!) manager there currently. His name is David Moore, and he will be management at the Beaumont location. Iâm kinda sad that he wonât be staying here, but extremely happy that he will be a great manager for the store he will be over, as the employees and the customers will benefit from his attentiveness and hospitality!!
He had brought me a dish early in my meal, I asked if he was new (since I am here fairly often and hadnât seen him before, but I was gone all summer) he told me âyesâ he was training for another store (again BOOO!!) and I just thought âwell dang, he is highly personable, lucky them.â I started paying attention to him a bit closer, for review purposes of course (yâall know I LOVE my reviews!!) and he was out there, helping the servers, picking up dishes from tables, refilling drinks, speaking to customers (and again, me, as he got me a drink too) and seemingly is very genuine and cares about doing well at this job so I am happy that the Beaumont location will be getting to have such a good manager. A good manager(s) mean the world to the serving team. Back in my server days (2008ish), Iâve left a job when the manager was stolen away from our store and we were left with the crap manager; management can make of break your business so I think itâs safe to say that as long as this David Moore stays doing what he was doing at this temporary-for-him location at his new location, it will all go very smoothly!!
So basically, now, Iâll have to eventually go visit him in Beaumont. sigh I guess I COULD go see my family near there, in Orange, just to ask them to lunch...
Read moreAfter going to the Sugar Land location for several years, I looked forward to visit this location.
I went here around 12 on a Saturday, and noticed there were plenty of tables available. A main detraction of the Sugar Land location is how busy it is and consequently the restaurant gets really bogged down in orders. I sometimes have to wait fifteen twenty minutes there to reorder.
No problems here. Our servers were prompt with our needs, and the kitchen kept up.
I was happy that Dinner (30.99) was available on weekends all day. I really wanted sashimi.
The food is excellent overall with some pros and cons.
First off the sushi and sashimi was excellent, all the fish I was served was finely cut, and cold. The flesh was firm and gently melds into your mouth. No resistance, like it was meant to be there. Love it. Get it.
The krab sticks "kani" are the lower quality made out of threadfin. A compromise was done here as it is used in the seafood soup and can hold it's shape better. The better quality surimi would just fray into different threads and would have made a messy looking soup.
Speaking of the seafood soup, highly recommended if you are able to eat it Comes with plenty of broccoli, one large shrimp, one impressively sized scallop, kani, and a mussel.
Fried rice was disappointing, sticky, too sweet and no wok hei. Chow mein was a little better, but the Sugar Land cooked one that was too sensational to forget.
Avoid the salmon tartare. It is just salmon scrapings melded together with a balsamic vinegette sauce that kind of overpowers the fish scraps.
On the other side of the ledger, the smoked salmon is outstanding. Really, it blows my mind. The flesh is moist and unlike most smoked salmon, is not too salty or too smoky.
Tempura was fresh but too saturated with oil. They need to raise the cooking temperature.
Of the raw rolls I ate, try the Nemo roll. The lemon really complements the raw fish much like a cerviche.
One of the sashimi orders, took an while, because it was presented in a beautiful wood box setting. They really didn't have do that! I was just concerned about eating it.
Despite a few detractions present in my experience, I still had great time. It is so good enough that I didn't eat until...
