China Garden Buffet — Restaurant in Springboro

First time here today for dinner (5:30-7:30, mid-October 2022) - Together, we tried 15 of the 29 main dishes. Food was fresh, hot, and tasty. Chilled bar with peel and eat shrimp, clams, cucumber salad, puddings, and typical Chinese buffet desserts. Ice cream in prepackaged tubs. Kevin was very satisfied (unusual). For me personally, since I can’t eat gluten, my meal was very limited to about a half dozen items, but everything was very good. The hibachi grill was closed, manager said no foreseeable plans to reopen it.

UPDATE: We had dinner here for the second time (5:00 - 8:30 pm, Mar 11 2023). Just as good as the first time. Hot food was fresh, moist, and hot. Cold food was fresh and cold. The hibachi bar is still not in use, so I asked the manager if I could have some stir-fried meat since I can't have gluten, and most of the meat on the bar is breaded or has soy sauce on it (most soy sauce has wheat in it). So he cooked some beef on the grill in the kitchen for me, which rounded out my protein consumption very nicely. The waitress was very pleasant, and understood English well. I had been told by the manager that if I ate at this buffet on a Friday, that they would make me rice noodle. When we showed up for the buffet, for the second time in a couple months (I don't eat here that frequently), they were out of rice noodle. I have never been particularly impressed with this buffet, so I don't know why I gave them another chance after they were out of rice noodle weeks ago. I will say that they have good potstickers, but the garlic chicken is not good, and the hibachi grill is rarely staffed. I had a razor sharp chicken bone in my garlic chicken today, and a picture is attached. When I told them they should probably check the rest of the food on the buffet that contained chicken the manager just shrugged, and went back to talking on the phone. The best Chinese buffet is the Eastern Buffet on Springboro Pike. If you have time, go there instead. There are also two other pretty good Chinese places down the street in Springboro. I have eaten at a LOT of Chinese restaurants over the years, and I would steer clear...

My family and I have been going to China Garden for many years and it's consistently our top choice. My momma passed away about a week and half ago, It was her favorite place, their peanut butter chicken and corn souffle-type dish was her favorite items. After she passed, I came into the restaurant and asked if we could get catering for after her funeral. They were so kind and did such an amazing job. They had the food fresh, hot and perfectly on time. I was absolutely so impressed with the service (as always) but extra with how kind and how delicious everything was.
