I came back to this location after 3 years hoping they'd improved their service. Regretfully, they have not. Came with my family this weekend and the food was not good and the service was bad. Plus, the quality of food for the price was appalling. I ordered a double steak and got my son the children's steak and we received the SAME PORTION. Might I add mine was DOUBLE THE PRICE. Furthermore, I ordered white rice upon my initial order. The chef came and I reinforced this so he wouldn't make additional fried rice. And still the white rice never came. After the meal was served I had to chase down the waiter and he looked at me like I had never asked, even though the chef confirmed I ordered it. The salad was watered down, I guess to save on salad dressing and they still have not resumed the soup option. Plus our chef didnt do any of the normal "fancy" stuff... fire volcano, etc. The only reason we gave this place a second try was because we hoped my 4 year old would enjoy the experience. Unfortunately, the other tables next to us received better service and my son thought it was his fault for ordering the wrong thing. In summary, DO NOT COME HERE. ITS OVER PRICED AND FOOD/SERVICE IS VERY POOR. I'm downgrading my rating to one star. Covid is no longer an excuse to be trash.
Previous review: My whole experience with this place wasn't great. We called ahead and they said no reservations. We get there and they tell us it's going to be an hour wait. As we're in the process of picking another restaurant, they call us and say they're ready (maybe 5 minutes), except what they meant was you can wait 45 min more at your table because a big group was there and would take precedence. We were seated right up against the big party and our server had us, another table, and their 2 tables, where the big party was seated. Clearly we were less important to the waitress, probably since she expected their bill to be bigger and thus the bigger tip. I had to keep flagging her down for drink refills and had to get someone else to get the white rice I'd ordered. The food wasn't so great (steak over cooked, no soup, smaller portions of rice and veggies vs prepandemic) but the chef seemed to be trying at least. What really drives this place down for me is the giant party we were seated next to. They were loud and unruly. I get that that shouldn't be the restaurants fault, but as anyone knows who's been to one of these restaurants, you can't just push tables together, so to have 2 tables a distance a part, people running around and screaming, that's the last thing you want when you're spending $30-40 a plate. If you're going to take a large party like that then partition them off so the rest of your guests aren't miserable and dedicate a server to them so your other guests are taken care of. I don't go out and spend that much money to run out of there because the atmosphere is so terrible. The large party had crying children, were yelling profanities, and were literally running around the restaurant pushing things over. I will not run the risk of going to this restaurant again and having such an experience. I reemphasize, if you're going to take big parties, you need to be able to accommodate them and not at the expense of your other guests....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHibachi⦠Even the thought of it makes my mouth water and makes me yearn for it. Iām telling you, this place is heaven on Earth and the chefs there are doing Godās work and I have actually told them that exact phrase on several occasions because I am overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of greatness that Hibachi chefs can pour into their meals. This sounds like an exaggeration but I assure you, it is not and there are few things on this planet that come close to the satisfaction of going to Hibachi and eating until you canāt. When I go there, I donāt look at the menu. I know what I want. During the week prior, Iāve been looking forward to this moment and imagining the pure ecstasy of finally getting my order and piling it into my mouth. I arrive at Hibachi no later than 5:50 so that I can be seated and order prior to 6:15 -- the cutoff for the Early Bird Special prices where you can get a meal and side for far cheaper than evening hours. Once seated, I order the chicken teriyaki with a side of fried rice, and a side of fried noodles, and occasionally I will get an additional side of fried rice. Now, every meal comes with a starter salad. And this salad is like no other. The dressing they use on it is a specific Hibachi dressing that just leaves me at a loss for words because I have never in my entire life tasted a salad so good as the ones at Hibachi. This place is so consistent with their quality, I cannot give any other restaurant the praise that this oasis deserves. Following the salad, the chef comes out and cooks the meal right in front of your eyes with a bunch of cool tricks thrown into the midst. The tricks are awesome to see, but if the tricks are amazing and the food is subpar, then I give that a low rating but if the tricks are subpar and the food is as it usually is, I leave the establishment so happy. But when both are perfection, as it always is at the Hibachi in Springfield, I just stop functioning due to pure pleasure. The fried rice there is my absolute favorite food and I canāt get enough of it. I typically finish my fried rice before the chef has the chance to put more food on my plate. After the rice, the delicious fried noodles are put onto my plate and I devour them, leaving no single noodle or rice grain on my plate. Then comes the chicken teriyaki and the vegetables, and any other chicken teriyaki or vegetables from any other restaurant pale in comparison to this food fit for gods. I finish everything. My stomach knows when Iām at Hibachi and likely expands to inhuman sizes, because there is no chance of me leaving that restaurant without finishing every single morsel of precious food that the generous chef has prepared for me. Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood was just OK. Expensive and saturated in teriyaki sauce, that you can taste anything individually. But that's not the problem, problem began after waiting 25 minutes for a cook . And him starting by saying to my daughter that has sea shell allergies, so food has to be cooked separately. But no one told us. So he starts confirming what everyone at table ordered and turns to my daughter and said. You are not or you are my problem. Either way that was uncalled for and I could immediately tell that bother her and myself and clearly she did not smile. So says, do you speak English, which was barely understandable from his broken English.. But not going there! So she was dumbfounded with his question or statement that changed the mood even for the strangers next us. But it does not end there. He finishes cooking and serving and my daughter with no food yes, so I ask! Where is her food, not my problem! What? Waiter comes in with here chicken and no rice. So she waits and I stop eating, because she is still waiting for food. So even if it was 2 to 5 minutes, it's still to long to wait and it took 10 minutes and me getting up and going to a different waiter to get her food.... So rice finally gets here and now here chicken is cold! And the rice was barely warm, so that tells me that her rice was sitting there the whole time. Terrible! And I will never go back! And the place smelled like mildew and something must be wrong with vent, incredibly smoky! Your better off driving elsewhere or going to the buffet in...
