My wife and I ate lunch at the Glenstone Black Sheep. I ordered the “Light My Fire” burger with a side of fries. My wife had the “Foodie” burger. She ordered her burger well done and it came medium rare. I ordered my “Light My Fire” burger patties rare. One patty came medium and the other patty was well done. Burger ruined already, but it gets worse. The “pickles looked like cucumber slices and tasted like cucumber slices. I’m not fond of cucumber unless my wife pickles them really well.
The entire “Light My Fire” burger sandwich was over-the-top sweet. The “jalapeños” looked like finely slice bell peppers and were excessively sweet. Since the burger is listed on the menu with American (FAKE) cheese, I asked for Bleu cheese as a substitute. The Bleu Cheese was the best thing on an otherwise extremely disappointing and overpriced burger. If Black Sheep makes a point of asking the customer how they want their meat cooked, then they should actually cook the meat to the customer’s preference. When the 2 burger patties in my burger arrived one medium well and the other beyond well done, BOTH with a hard, crunchy outside, I already determined to never return to Black Sheep for a meal again. When I lifted the top bun to add a bit of ketchup and saw the cucumber slices, I was taken aback. My wife suggested that I taste one to see if they were pickled, so I did that. Nope. It tasted like cucumber. No pickle flavor at all.
Though the fries were a bit overcooked, we both enjoyed them. Basically we spent almost &36 for 2 orders of fries and 2 Cokes. Nothing else was worthy of consideration.
Black Sheep came highly recommended to us. The Google ratings backed that up. Our experience and our food, however, were dreadfully disappointing and the burgers, because they weren’t cooked to order and had raw cucumber slices instead of pickles, were just downright horrible....
Read moreOmg. I know where I am going every time for food if in Springfield when it's open. Oh my God, not even close, its The best burger I've ever had. Fries definitely depend on what you're craving. But I thought they easily top the charts. Kind of medium size between McDonald's and like a steak fry. Extra crispy to the point that they kind of seem like they've been battered. Still potato on the inside, not completely cooked to a solid like crispy fries sometimes are.
I felt like they were cucumbers, But this burger and it was just the normal single burger, was loaded up with veggies, immaculate, almost sour sauce which is why there was some debate in my mind whether or not they were cucumbers or pickles. Patty cooked absolutely to perfection. A fancy soft bun. I know some places trying to like chat their s* for some reason. It was buttered but not overly so.
Fry portions were extremely generous, had options of a bunch of super fancy sauces. I got the Chipotle ketchup because I didn't want to be too out in the wild, But I think I should have pushed myself a little bit more. The ketchup was great, the Chipotle was kind of subtle. Definitely better than ketchup elsewhere but I think it's probably their worst sauce if I'm making an educated guess. If the worst thing about a place is it's ketchup that's a pretty damn good place. Burger was fairly sized for the price. It's a burger. It was the right size to eat I might add. Sometimes things are too big. Either hard to eat or just too much to eat all together. It wasn't too small either. Definitely a full size burger and not a slider.
Staff was friendly and patient.
Desperately need a Tulsa location. I can say without a doubt that that's worth driving two and a half hours each way just for, But I'd still prefer not to if that were an option. Still. Omg. That burger fed...
Read moreBefore you read my negative review, I gave them a second chance and they knocked it out of the park! Funny and personable cashier, fast service, and the quality of the food was every bit as good as any of the sit-in locations! So glad that they got their stuff together! So if you read on, note that they fixed all these issues.
I love Black Sheep. I have dined at the various locations numerous times, but this experience at the Glenstone location was terrible. My order was overlooked - could hear the staff calling out orders then mention of mine not being among them. Then 35 minutes passed and still no food. I went up to the counter, the order wasn't on the screen and the employee pulled it back up. I got a message eventually that my food was ready, stood there for another 12 minutes and then was offered a refund. I got the refund as the burger was finished, we're at over 48 minutes and they just gave it to me. That was kind after the wait. The burger was overcooked, but I may mark that up to feeling rushed. When I arrived, there was only a couple, a trio, and a couple of drive thrus, not a line to wait in to order. Three groups, two over a half dozen, came in. It was unfortunate and will not deter going there for a sit down meal, but never again for a "quick bite" while out shopping. My wife went without me and shopped in three stores and this was my first meal on what had already been a long day, so I did not get too angry at the staff--they were stressing with the rush and the various long waits and errors on the drive thru customers and my own food. Usually great service. Amazing burgers, usually, fries are always good. Did make it somewhat right with the free burger. I strongly suggest making it a dining experience you can sit...
