Read moreMy girlfriend, a few friends, and I visited Krab Kings last night for their Voodoo Lounge late-night specials and honestly, the food was awesome.
We ordered the Oysters Rockefeller, a whole spread of boiled seafood with all the fixins, and a couple of po’ boys. Let me tell you — the po’ boy was massive! I didn’t try it myself, but it looked incredible: totally stacked, absolutely worth the bang for your buck.
The kitchen also made a custom cheese po’ boy for my partner (she’s vegetarian), and she loved it. Another friend tried it too and they both said the bread was divine. We almost ordered another round 😅
Now the seafood: I went with the #3 combo — half crab, half shrimp — with Cajun seasoning and no butter. I was in heaven. The crab was sweet and tender, the shrimp plump and juicy, and everything was cooked to perfection. I nearly ordered another plate! I had planned on trying the AYCE Alfredo, but let’s be honest… I’ll never turn down a solid seafood boil. Pro tip: if you’re not into buttery boils, ask for it on the side or skip it entirely. I loved that I could customize it to my liking.
The drink specials were 🔥 too. We tried the mango margarita, two Painkillers, the Mule, and a Bloody Mary — all strong and delicious.
To top it all off, the owners came by and introduced themselves after our meal. Great people and a great conversation. This was the perfect end to our day — or the start of our night 😉
Definitely coming back with my coin purse ready. Three years on the 29th! ...
Read moreMy wife and I went here on a Friday night for our weekly date night. On this night, we went with another couple as well. We thought we were getting in early by arriving at 5:30, but it was already busy and stayed busy until we left. Lots of to-go orders were going out as well. Do not come in expecting to get in and out quickly.
If you like food with spice, this is the place for you. Lots of variety in seasoning.
We shared the #5 Krab n Shrimp platter with original butter and honey garlic. It was enough to fill both of us but not stuff us. The sausage definitely had some spice and was really good. The krab was good but I was never able to get a whole piece without having to really work for it; it would stick to the shell. The shrimp was a good size, and the potatoes were probably the best I've ever had in a boil. The corn was good as well but only came with one piece.
The other couple ordered the hushpuppy appetizer, which was very good, a little on the small side, but you do get about 10 of them. They also had the crawfish and commented several times that it was the best-cooked crawfish they had ever had.
Overall, we spent around 70 bucks with only waters. We were full but not stuffed. The food was good and flavorful. The menu is packed with lots of options that sound good, and we would be willing to try. The one thing we didn't expect was to see lamb instead of steak for the Surf n Turf.
Definitely will be a returning customer...
