this place is on the money every time (a couple times just a little bit more so if that's even possible where it's literally like 10 for 10 hammer down on the carnival machine top lit up full bazinga lights flashing in my head) maybe especially when i think it's a son and his dad there those two personalities having a great dynamic and chemistry the coolness of it the food really makes me 'melt' being quite impressed and charmed with the whole experience for example some of the 'rebel' spirit (thinking of french culture writers being appreciated expression and that infused with the asian side too the french colony) the cafe light on coming in and taking a break from being at a suite with a computer and a paint station during the day there being a steady flow of guests here to enjoy being in public with i have never had a problem with the vietnamese quite the opposite i have had many great experiences with them (and sort of wished the middle easterners were like them thinking of how there's vietnam vets who some i thought it was like me and germany this great vacation but maybe i expected that at the dc va) from when i first began to learn pho (in the 2000s my brother might've discovered it and told my mom about it) um side note i think my parents said the chinese restaurants are starting to fade out and pho and thai are taking over but yeah when the hot food is in front of me it has like the street food element where it just nails the craving feeling my cold hungry stomach anticipate each different styled thing the pho with the sriracha i love and some beef balls the banh mi with some sauces on it that great bread baguette maybe some fried egg rolls and i even visualized about the country there vietnam i actually saw pictures before when i saw henry rollins the 2nd time at lincoln in dc by ben's chili bowl in january he had a travel photo talk and he talked about unfortunately how the war left some bad wounds but i could like see in my head how much fun i imagined it be to live there as an expat what'd really do it for me would be having a internet connection aside from that i don't know if there'd be too much else i'd need besides my meds inside i'll come with my brother and his spouse in my head i'll have so much conversation ideas while there's each dish hot and served so well this is in springfield near some other stuff like games workshop paper moon um hard times chili the drive up can be atmospheric too pulling into the shopping center with...
Read more20250618 the Ribeye with egg was good but too much sodium, left me with an after taste for a long time. 20250326 Their herbal dessert is bigger than I remember and it's delicious!! The Pork Belly sandwich was soooo good, with plenty of meat. Egg rolls are petite size but amazing. The sesame balls were not freshly fried, tasted better when fresh. 20230721 large spicy beef and pork tendon noodles is good - generous amount of meat. Found a hair in the sauce that came with the noodles. The Vietnamese empanadas are delicious but a bit expensive for a small one. The herbal dessert is delicious!! Much better than the first time I tried it. This time it's sweet, first time was sour. Service is consistently great. 20230609 It has been over a year since I have eaten here. I decided to give it a try and my experience today was better. The young man working at the register was very welcoming and friendly. I had the pork belly banh mi and it was pretty good. The pork belly was a little bit too wet and fatty. The shrimp summer rolls were good and so were the other items I bought. The egg rolls were a little different. I baked them at home to heat them up. The wrap was crispy which I love. Between the crispy layer and the meat was a very dense layer of egg roll wrap, hard to chew. 2022 I try to support small businesses. I met a friend here for a late lunch/early dinner. He got a sandwich, that he said was good. I got the pho with brisket and tendon. The pho was good but the broth is a bit too salty and has a unique flavor that is very different than the broth at other Pho restaurants. I tried 1 of the desserts and it was supposed to be sweet, but for some reasons, it was a little sour, and I don't like sour stuff. I bought some items to take home. The pork and shrimp in a clear dumplings wrapped in banana leaves are interesting. Strange looking. It's good when eaten with the slight spicy sauce they came with. Otherwise, they are OK. I like the green treat with coconut and peanut filling, but the green dough is OK and not sweet. It would be better if it is a little bit sweeter and softer. The pyramid rice thing with pork and mushroom filling is good. The rice reminds me of thick congee, and the filling could use a little bit of salt. I ate it with the Chinese red hot pepper oil....
Read moreThis place is EXCELLENT! A couple weeks ago I got some Bahn Mi from uber eats. They were the best around (south of Falls Church / Eden Center). I also got a TON of other little side things..for more detail see my Yelp review...and they almost all hits (very few misses).
Yesterday i finally got some soups delivered, and wow where they great! The Bun Bo Hue is spot on with all kinds of animals and parts in it. The Bun Rieu tho? Outstanding!!! Even MORE animals and parts in it.
Both have unique and rich broths with a depth so far above and beyond every other neighborhood Vietnamese joint. I put leftover broth in the fridge, and as a testament to excellence, the next day said broth was a solid gelatinous blob. Further proof that these soups are cooked the RIGHT way: hours and hours with a wide variety of bones infusing their goodness into your bowl.
Treat yourself and have them add some oxtail and/or marrow bones. Thank me later. Also, they pack you a zip lock with a little shredded cabbage, some bean sprouts, lime, basil, and two spice portions (well, one is red and spicy, the other I don't know but it adds even MORE flavor crystals to your soup).
And finally, the banana cake is actually more than edible (I've had no luck with Asian sweets). And the coconut spongy cake thing is...
