I'm not usually this harsh with anyone, but professionalism is everything to me. I went to the Vespa Kitchen honestly because the two breakfast places inwent to were packed. I saw this small restaurant off to the side so i thought, why not. I asked a couple, before going in if it was good and they said it's great. So off I went! It is a quaint little place and most people in there seemed like the kind of people they would have which is 30's with small children which I thought was awesome as well even though that time had passed me by. It was quiet and they staff seemed really friendly. I ordered the Emerald omelet which was very good, but you get about half of what you would get anywhere else. I also got a bowl of fruit as well. It was all good and to be honest they would have received a three or four stars at this point. The place wasn't busy by any standard and I only saw my waitress a few times. I asked, before I ate if the had Wi-Fi and they did with no password required. The Wi-Fi was step g, but the internet wasn't working. Again not a huge issue, but a little annoying. My issue came when ingot the bill and it is a little more than I normally pay for half the food, but still I'm not going to drop them that much. But, since I was sitting at a table near the bar and I gave them a $20.00 and the bill was 13+ some change, I wanted some change back. The waitress asked if I wanted some change back and in said yes. She then went to the bartender and said "I can't believe someone would ask for change during Saturday rush hour!" loud enough for me to hear. Almost making sure i heard it. So when unprofessionalism occurs to that degree and even though I still left an over 20% tip, I must use media to help change this issue. To the restaurant, if you are still reading I thank you. When unprofessionalism happens I start to tally what was good and bad in the truest way, and the star is given with the likelihood I would ever return. To be honest i should give 2 stars, but the 1 star is my guarantee thaybi will not return. The food is dressed well and for a young guy wanting to take a new girlfriend on a first date, I'm sure points will be given. But if you are actually hungry and can't eat bread or potatoes, the omelet isn't goingbto cut it. If you are on a diet of any kind and need options, there's a fruit bowl and that's it. If your drinking first thing in the morning, this is your place. If you want coffee options for breakfast, there is basic creamer...thats it given, but you have to ask. Well I'm rambelling on, but the main fix it at this place is thinking you are so unique and cool that .ambers a d professionalism was lost. Do...
Read moreWe came here for my husband's birthday with great expectations. Those quickly fell flat. Ordered the 7oz tenderloin and the 8oz strip. Both came with diced tiny vegetables and mashed potatoes. I also added a crab cake and macaroni ala carte. We had to ask the server for bread, which ironically, was the best part of our meals. ALL the food came out cold, except the meat entrees, which were lukewarm. The crab cake was the size of a silver dollar and tiny. The server mentioned that we could tweak dishes, so I requested the macaroni and cheese without the salmon. It also came out as rigatoni noodles in a watery sauce with giant chunks of salmon. I would have notified my server but he was absent the entire duration of the meal and did not even check on our steaks to see if they were prepared correctly (thus we could not tell him of our cold food). Also, we did not taste any bourbon in the mashed potatoes. The atmosphere was more of a diner than an elegant steakhouse, yet they definitely charged steakhouse prices. My husband ordered the pumpkin dessert, but this also came out cold and odd, as it had a funny orange taste. We did not eat it. For a truly fine dining experience in Springfield, we highly recommend Char or Flame. You get superb dishes and so much more for your money, along with a beautiful atmosphere and complimentary champagne. This place, sadly, is a "one and done.". We encourage the owners to try some of the other high end dining restaurants in...
Read moreFood: While I can’t speak for our large party, everything I personally tasted was incredible. The full rack of lamb was perfect without any added sauces. The mashed potatoes were the perfect balance between smooth/creamy and flavorful. One of my 19mo olds ate nearly a dozen pieces of the calamari. Everything was fresh, well seasoned, and presented beautifully.
Service: This was some of the best service we’ve had in years. Any time we try a new restaurant with our 19mo old twins, it’s very stressful to anticipate everything we need to make the visit smooth. The staff was kind, fun, and went above and beyond. We never felt like a nuisance with our young children. The host that took our photos at the flower wall was genuine and fun. He even managed to get both of our kids looking at the camera- something I’ve only been able to do a handful of times in their lives. We also had a 2wk old baby in our party with a bulky stroller that was never an issue. Our server constantly assured me that my kids were doing great and that she totally understood the stress of dining out with kids. It meant more than I can day
Atmosphere: Atmosphere is a tricky thing to nail. Somehow, they have managed to make the restaurant a place for everyone. We saw date nights, large groups, families, and everything in between. We felt welcome and comfortable in the setting.
Overall, this was one of the best restaurant experiences we’ve ever had. The staff is remarkable. Pay them well- with money...
